robintodd
Went with both grandkids on Sunday (my 9 yr old grand daughter is not quite ready for the Haunt) and had a great time. We rode 4 rides and spend most of the time watching the shows and doing the lantern scavenger hunt. For as much fun as the Haunt activation spots are the Tricks and Treats is just as enjoyable. Fine job again KI.
Tr0y
For those wondering how the lantern works. You have to aim these bulbs (circled in red) at the activation point. (Orange circle). There is a reset button (circled in blue) that you can press if you would like the prop to play again. I would recommend doing this. Also for those wondering where the locations are, there is a QR code at the bottom of the lantern that you can scan that directs to a website that has a map as well as directions to how the lantern works. They did this a couple of years ago. It's lights on and no scares so appropriate for kids. Very interesting especially for those of us who remeber Tomb Raider the ride. I beilive this is the first year I've noticed the "ice" on the celing not there. CP has done this in the past. It takes less people to operate and allows guests to view the house with the lights on. My favorite at CP was the old HEXED (now Midnight) house. It is beautiful. Of course they are limited in what houses can be open because of gore (Slaughterhouse would be a no go for example.) If you have a lantern there are several activation points that are used (1 or 2 are in the line). I'm assuming those points are also active during Haunt. 1

I get an extremely good value out of my season pass, drink plan and meal plan. I figure conservatively I have saved over $600 on drinks and food alone, that kind of savings allows me to make additional purchases in the park. So many times I've read on this forum that people are "voting with their dollars" by not purchasing things that are not worth it as a way to send a message to management. For example I didn't participate in the food for grand carnivale because they eliminated the tasting cards. By the same token I strongly believe in supporting (voting with my dollars) things management does that are very well done to send a message to do more of this. Plus have a great souviner. BTW, I was told (and I found it to be accurate) that in order to activate the lantern spots make sure the side of the lantern that has the haunt/Kings Island at the bottom faces the activation point. Again, kudos to management for going above and beyond the lantern definitely has my vote. It was said in jest. I'm sure it's a good product for those that find value in it. I'm the opposite of you. I have found less value in my pass this year. The park has seemed to settle in a period of mediocrity this year and last year. That could be park level mandates or corporate mandates, I don't know and don't care. It's not the ki that I've known since I started this hobby several years ago. Ive only visited twice this year and spent zero extra dollars. It's all very subjective, but until I get the tug at the heartstrings, I don't plan on coming back anytime soon. I've planned several national park trips next summer and will go to the Christmas event at Kentucky Kingdom this year instead of WinterFest. It could be that anything after 2022 is a disappointment because that was arguably the best season in ki history. Or it could be that seeing the discourse about Kings Island politics here and elsewhere online removes the magic. Or it could be that I need to step away and come back with a fresh perspective in a year or two to reignite the spark. Who knows?

I have always and will always love KI. I've been going since I was 3 when it opened and have numerous memories thoroughout the years. Living 20 minutes away from the park I go about 50 times per year and use my drink and meal plan every visit, therefore my value is greater than others. My resurgence for the park has increase with taking my grandkids (now up to 6) and seeing the park for the first time through their eyes. It completely changed my perspectiveon the park. I find myself fortunate to be able to share a place that has been so special to me with them. I like my Grandkids so much, I wish I would have had them first.

johnjniehaus
So I went to haunt opening night and why in the name of boocifer was boo blasters closed???? The one "haunted" ride closed during Halloween? Ridiculous! Last time I checked boo Blaster is technically international Street not Planet Snoopy except when it comes to staffing haunt I guess... Out of curiosity was it open sat during haunt or can we expect it to be closed consistently during haunt? Having said that the atmosphere was there, got a couple good jumps by roaming monsters. I thought the costumes and roaming scare actors were very good and very plentiful! Lines were short and I got some great night rides on beast, bar, Adv Ex, Dback, Orion, and Banshee. Got Racer before it was totally dark.

When Planet Snoopy is closed for Haunt, Boo Blasters is too. To my knowledge, its been that way for years.

Still think it should be open though just saying.

Disney is able to do it with Haunted Mansion; I see no reason we can't as well.
johnjniehaus
Did the walk through of Madam Fatales Cavern of Horror today to see what all remains of tomb raider. It was a really fun experience! I must say after seeing everything that is still in there, wouldn't it be awesome to eventually have a rollercoaster or dark ride return to the building? Something like DarKoaster or Verboten would be amazing in there or of course a Vekoma Mad House would be a riot too.

I makes me sad/mad when I see all of that just there… wasted most of the year, but my glimmer of hope is- since they’ve never “needed” the space it’s not been gutted and used for something dumb. Was BY FAR the best queue ever done at this park. Why could the “museum of mystery” idea even be used for a dark ride? Use the monkey room as it was before as a holding /preshow with narration about “tribal relic that brigs the museum to life”. Old pre-show room become boarding for dark ride that uses the ride building. Goes high then comes down past scenes of the museum using simple animation and projection mapping (a much simpler Mystic Manor). Unloads at the bottom of the ride building, returns to load empty. Use 3-4 car trains like a dark ride/coaster combo (like blazing Fury)

How long does this tour last? Is it until the end of the season? Also, isn't opening that door with Tomb Raiders triangle of light copyright? I'm just curious because it has TR's triangle of light carved on it. Isn't that copyright? Please, LET ME KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THIS TOUR. Or is this the haunt? Because this looks a bit like an actual tour than the haunt that I went through last year.

It's during the day on Sat and Sun before haunt begins. You wait in the que and then they take a small group and it's almost like a skit type of thing they do with madam and the tour guides about the museum and they walk you through the haunt maze. Anyone can go on the tour but on a rainy dead day at the park, I waited longer for this experience than I did any rollercoaster the entire day.

Kings Island is definitely more polished and in my opinion has better interactions. Cedar Point was more difficult to find the interactive locations, even with a map, and that was said by multiple guest. For example try finding the interactive location and then imagine it being dark, and foggy. CP: KI:
Bansheelover
I have been to Haunt twice so far. Last Saturday after the rains we went, and went through Slaughterhouse and Madam Fatale's. Both were fun, but limited scare actors due to the weather. We arrived around 10:30pm. Rode Orion, Diamondback, and Banshee twice. I went last night and did Pumpkin , Hooked, Cornered and Alien Abyss. All were fantastic, and had major upgrades from the previous years. Good amount of scare actors, and the kids had a blast. The fog was amazing, and had to the atmosphere of the evening. We will see what Sunday night brings when we go back.
Korey
I went twice this season to Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt. Went on 9/28 and again on 10/5. On 9/28, it rained all day, but honestly, it turned out to be a blessing! Every ride was a walk-on, and we got to enjoy the haunted houses without the usual crowds. The scare actors were all inside, really nailing the creepy vibe despite the weather. It was such a unique experience!2nd trip on 10/5, and wow, it was the busiest I’ve ever seen! The atmosphere was electric, with all the guest, decorations and scare actors out in full force. Even with the crowds, we had an amazing time. Both trips were completely different however, both were fun and can’t wait to return for my 3rd trip of the haunt season.
BryanJay
Here’s my random thoughts after attending Haunt this season (Small Spoilers if you care for that sort of thing) 1) I’m obsessed with the revamped Cornered maze. It’s currently my favorite iteration of the maze, and the setwork is some of my favorites out of the houses. The Lawnmower scene is probably my favorite out of any of the Haunt mazes. 2) Hooked is a very good addition for this year. I love the Screamin’ Demon reference, and the use of swords make the scareacting really intense. 3) While neither are new this year, the scareactors in the Alien Abyss and Slaughterhouse did exceptionally well the night I went. I love the alien that squirts water at you in that house (not sure if that’s new for this season or I just never noticed it) and walking through Slaughterhouse I felt the most fear I felt in any maze ever. 4) I caved in and bought one of the lanterns, and honestly really enjoyed them. The Phantom Theater points outside Boo Blasters and in the Museum of Mystery were personal favorites obviously, along with the iconic Son of Beast station. Overall, loved the event. Hope in the coming years, it can get even better! Enjoy my random photos of stuff I liked!
