Axe, Axe, Baby Construction

A new construction fence is now in the location of the old Axe, Axe, Baby's game location. This is the area under Diamondback's helix. What do you think this could be for? Are they going to use it for Haunt props, queue area for a maze, new drinks stand (unlikely), other ideas?

The clearing behind it is what has me curious. As I mentioned in another thread it could just be work on a water pipe or other utilities. There's also a chance that it could be a check-in/sales area for The Conjuring if they for some reason need that. We haven't exactly heard how getting into the experience is supposed to work, so maybe there has to be a check-in area for some reason. If the clearing in the back is for a path, I'd be curious as to why construction wasn't begun sooner. It also appears to be on a hill, while there is a perfectly flat area between the corner and the games shed that a path could've gone on.

I think it would be a great spot for a water feature and/or a new activity if it's not for Haunt. I'll be sad if the electric chairs are completely gone this year, hopefully they'll still be used somewhere.

Side note: I wish they'd have either gotten rid of the "exciting new offerings" bit or chosen a different design for the construction wall vinyl covers. This fence is probably the best-constructed I've seen of them being used — none of the fence panels are askew or bumped out of place — but the way the vinyl has consistently been poorly hung makes it look bad IMO. It's one of the reasons why I'd like to see wood fencing/gates go up around Boo Blasters after it closes.

Those electric chairs always freaked me out lol. One time when I was walking past, I was like, "what's that smacking noise?" and my friend said, "oh that's just the guy in the electric chair". I looked over and saw the animatronic doing some weird motions and looked quite terrifying

I love the guy in the electric chair. He was really fun to see back when he was at the front entrance in front of one of the map holders. It kind of feels like Haunt really started to get too family-friendly after they removed him from that spot.

I'll make another guess for that spot: a new temporary stage for Winterfest performances.

I doubt it'll amount to anything "worthwhile." Why hide it behind a fence with screening if people riding Diamondback can see it from above. Likely a queue or something to do with what's coming into The Crypt building.

I'd bet the wraps were already attached to the fence walls from the last time they were used. I don't know if the park owns those fences or if they rent them (why they'd still be renting them at this point IDK), but if they're constantly in use there's no need to take the wraps off. There's also the facts that most guests will think it looks better with them on and that people like us will talk about it. I'd say anyone riding Diamondback is also not doing much to look below the track during that helix.

Maybe this weekend someone can take a photo of where more fences were next to The Conjuring from The Beast's queue. I'm sure we might see more work behind the AAB fences this weekend as well.

More work has been done! This week's work appears to have included tearing out all of the shrubbery to the left of the initial clearing, removing a section of fence back by Slaughterhouse's entrance gate, putting hay down (in the shape of a path), and lifting one of the mesh panels at the back of the game stand. The hay could just be there because something got dug up, but I like my theory better.

To me, it's currently looking more and more like Axe Axe Baby will turn into an entrance for The Conjuring: Beyond Fear. They could set up either a shed or a tent (or two of either) to act as a check in/a sales point in case they need it. It'd give the attraction a more prominent entrance (Diamondback kind of ruined any grandness that the cave entrance had) and might entirely eliminate the need for the indoor queue.

They might need it to flow better or have space for a check-in table/sales table that couldn't didn't fit in the normal entrance. Using the normal queue could also come with the complications of needing a functional elevator to get down to the maze floor, which may be part of a concern with guest flow through the attraction.

A wild card option could be the fact that the normal entrance still has remnants of Tomb Raider in it, and while most of it was removed there are still certain remnants that cannot appear with the new stuff. Mixing IPs is already a big no-no with the Peanuts license, so I can imagine that Warner Bros. would not want anything that could be tied to Paramount appearing in/with an attraction that they licensed. Building the new entrance might've been cheaper and quicker than a renovation of that indoor queue.

I’m not sure how accurate that comment is considering that it became The Crypt in 2008 up until it’s final season in 2011. Cedar Fair had to remove anything related to Paramount.

I thought there were still at least one or two items left from it that could be considered conflicting IPs by WBD. Either way, I was really just speculating on the reasoning. It could also be that the theming itself conflicted too much for Kings Island instead of anything from Paramount being left over.

All of which very well could be true-I’m not entirely sure if there’s anything left in there. That building has been around for nearly 25 years and has housed three (now 4) different themes.
