  1. 1. Watching Vortex, being near the Carosuel, or seeing the climbing maze thing. 2. Either Bat or Banshee 3. My favorite area of the park is Action Zone, with Soak City and Rivertown in 2nd and 3rd place 4. Maybe? I was too scared to ride when I was a kid.* 5. Mystic Timbers, just being in the park again riding great rides and the triumphant return of Cirque (and hopefully DuoFannick!) *EDIT: So, I don't think I correctly answered the 4th question; I thought it was about if they should bring Phantom Theatre back. In answer to the newly proposed question, I'll say King Cobra. I never got to ride it (well, almost...) and I remember seeing it during my childhood. Son of Beast would also be an option, but it's not as nostalgic now due to it being closed the last few years of existence and because the loop was removed.
  2. I think Kentucky Kingdom needs a standard looping coaster, and B&M would be able to pull it off. A floorless, standard or wing could work, but I think they need a good looper like KI has Vortex and SDC has Wildfire. Yes, I know some could count Storm Chaser as the looping coaster, but I'm talking in a more traditional sense of a looping coaster.
  3. I forgot about the tunnel! This thing looks great so far; can't wait to ride it!
  4. It's a bit too early for me to be thinking about this ... nah, who am I kidding, I've been missing Sam and listening to Blood Drums since Closing Day! Well, I think Blood Drums should definitely make a return 'cause that's always awesome and there will likely be a new or remodeled maze. I think it would be cool to have a maze that has an objective (besides escaping), like finding items and then returning it a Scareactor (This could be a Skeleton Key experience, or a parkwide thing- like, find Sam, he'll give you the next clue, etc.) As for returners, Slaughterhouse, Backwoods Bayou, Blackout (because it's different) and Killmart should return. Urgent Scare could've been improved from last year, but everything is great as is! Can't wait for that time of year when Thumbs (a scareactor in Rivertown), Sam the Butcher, the sliders and others begin their nightly stroll of scaring!
  5. Good stuff spanning a ton of years. I believe I remember seeing that cargo net used for Son of Beast's announcement on top of The Crypt/Madame Fatale's building during the Mystic Timbers announcement. I remember the Tasmanian Typhoon construction and I love the Son of Beast drawing you made. Also, I'm loving those King Cobra pics; I remember seeing it prowl around Action Zone until the great windstorm we know as Delirium took it's place. EDIT: I didn't know the same fence that Tomb Raider: The Ride used for construction was reused for King Cobra's deconstruction. So much good stuff here; thank you!
  6. Before seeing those pics on Twitter, I didn't realize that MT had those awesome curves! This is gonna be crazy; reminds me of Lightning Racer or The Voyage! 82. more. days.
  7. Apparently I won an award for the most liked content yesterday? Thanks!? :) 83 days, yo!

  8. Score! I'm super pumped for Opening Day... and Soak City's Opening Day... and Cirque... and Haunt. Winterfest I can wait for , but I'm sure it'll be cool nonetheless!
  9. I didn't even think about the first rider shirts... if MT is as awesome as I think it would be, it might warrant buying a shirt; however, now I can save some $ by receiving a First Rider shirt! Even if I don't get the shirt, I'll be there to wait for MT... however long it takes!
  10. Mystic Timbers, no question. After that, I dunno. I've got The Bat, Adventure Express, Beast, Banshee and possibly Flight of Fear on my agenda. But first, Mystic Timbers! As for other rides I'd like to ride on Opening Day, I'd like to ride Drop Tower, Delirium, and Congo Falls (if it's open). Restaurant-wise, I'm not sure. I like most things at Festhaus and Tom + Chee is always good. I'd love to get some Chicken Shack bread this season and if the rest of the group is going to Reds', I'll likely tag along. 84 days! EDIT: Subway is always a good choice, but I don't really go there often anymore (both when I'm at the park and when I'm not)- the last time I went there was last year; my friend's girlfriend and I stopped in to get a bite to eat in Chicago before I went home from my Secret Trip (I also just realized that the first and last activities after/before the bus rides on that trip included eating out! )
  11. I agree; the first time I rode Sidewinder (Hersheypark) I noticed they had the new restraints. Although that was my first (and currently only) standard Vekoma Boomerang Coaster, I couldn't imagine it with the old restraints as it was fun, but not worth re-riding. Now, if we are talking about Vekoma's other mass produced product (SLC's), I love those (at least based on my experience on T3, but then again it had the new restraints as well)! More to the topic, I don't know who I'd feel about those on Vortex. On one hand, I've survived without new restraints for years, however, it would breathe new life into the ride and really help with some of those transitions (esp. when sitting up front or in 5-1, which seem to be the most jerky seats for me).
  12. It think it was just called Lion Country Safari and then during the mid-90's it became known as Adventure Village. Adventure Village contained Top Gun, Adventure Express, XS Raceway, Xtreme Skyflyer, Congo Falls, King Cobra, and more. Learn more about Adventure Village here: http://web.archive.org/web/19980112193919/http://www.pki.com/cgi-bin/ParkPages/Advent/Advent.pl
  13. Maybe there will be a new Vortex sign with a 30th anniversary logo (or another type of redesign for the 30th)? EDIT: If there is a ceremony for Vortex's 30th, I think Vortexbfforever should be invited (or maybe even give a speech)! She's ridden Vortex 300+ times!
  14. Congrats DrummerMattk! I'm super excited for Mystic Timbers and I'm sure you and the rest of the crew will do a phenomenal job introducing Mystic Timbers into the Kings Island coaster lineup! Also, props to all rides crews;you all have a lot of responsibilities and handle them effortlessly!
  15. I did! I rode 5/6 slides on the Complex, and I enjoyed the Blue and Green drop slides and the Constrictor the most (aka, Blatoise's HydroBlast/Vensaur's Vine Whip and Arbok's Constrictor); the tube slide with the double drop (Delibird's Slippery Slope) was fun, but the yellow/orange drop slide (Raichu's Electric Feel) was super intense and I did not try it again.
  16. Just by looking at the webcam, it'll be interesting to see how much clearance to the train has as MT's station is on one side of the tracks while most of the track is on the other. I'm sure the train won't crash into our beloved coaster and the clearance will all work out fine, but it'll be interesting to see it in person (or, if Don could take a pic to post on social media to show the track crossing over the train, that would be great! )
  17. I'd be up for something like this! And no teasing games, you say? Did you forget about the Decoding thread and all the tweets that led up to Banshee? But yes, CP does do it on a much bigger scale.
  18. Thank you for return of the signatures! Even though I've survived without it, I'm really glad it's back!
  19. Thanks for the notice of KI's hours! Also, anyone notice the park will be open from 12-7 the day after Opening Day (as it's usually closed)? If I'm not too KI'd out, I think I might go that day as well. Also-also, December 30th will be KI's official Closing Day- wonder what rides will be open then (and will we have 2 Closing Day meetups, one for the end of the non-Winterfest season and one on the true Closing Day?)? EDIT: My signature hath returned!
  20. Until looking at the table, I didn't realize Carolina Cobra (soon to the "The Flying Cobras") was installed in '09 while most of the other Geagua Lake exports were installed in '08. Also, just looking at a glance, I see a lot of B&M's and GCI's. Finally, as others said, the past may not be a good indicator of the future; look at CGA as an example, according to the chart, there have been only 2 major installs/refurbish since '07 (Gold Striker and Vortex/Patriot), however, in the future, they are set to expand massively with lots of new forthcoming attractions (don't know if this is the best example, but I hope you Ce Dar Point*). *Seriously! It seemed like the goal for all CF waterparks at one time was to be called Soak City; now it seems that some will have their own identity as seen with Carolina Harbor and Cedar Point Shores
  21. Yes, that idea might not be so Farfetch'd!
  22. Music/noise in the station (like Flight of Fear) would be awesome in general, even if it did have the side effect of reducing spoilers!
  23. An end of an era, yes, but also it makes sense in a way due to the reasons mentioned in the article. On one hand, I'm glad the animals aren't able to perform anymore, but on the other hand, I feel sad for the people who lost their jobs and also for the short attention spans of today's generation (Heck, I'll say it myself; I may have too much tech in my life- I haven't picked up Harry Potter (or any other book to read for relaxation/learning) in who knows when, but I'm online/on the computer or on my 3DS every day!). I think I went to a (traditional) circus one time when I was a kid and it scared me because I was afraid of the elephants (because they are big and loud; mostly due to the loud trumpeting, though!). However, things like Cirque and this other non-animal (human-based) circus I saw were/are amazing and I'll continue to support those. I just hope these don't go out of style, because the talent of Cirque performers and the like are incredible

  25. So, I love how videos automatically embed themselves after linking, links pasted in the post actually become active, and the old HTML editing option has been replaced with Source. Much more user friendly for HTML-saavy users like myself (at least, I like to think I am...). Good job malem (and others who contributed!)
