Am I the only one here with a soft spot for Arrow's... awkward... transitions? It seems people classify the coaster as "rough", but I think it's all a part of her charm. Yes, HER charm. Vortex is a classy lady.

Well I had an interesting conversation in study hall today...... Girl: "Did you hear King's Island tearing down Vortex?" Me: "No, Why?" Girl: "It's built in a sink hole and the thing you ride in could come off the track." Me: *Starts laughing* and continues on with History homework Girl: "It's not funny, people could die!"

Nighthawk is much better than Firehawk. It's not as long and has a different ending but the scenery and atmosphere is much much better than Firehawks dirt. I thought it was a nice park when I went in 2011, getting a picture in front of the N. Carolina/S. Carolina sign is always a must. They also have this path way that has trees and branches that completely enclose it, I've never seen that before so I thought it was cool. Intimidator is very good but not as good as Diamondback.

I can't wait to see the rest of that hill drop!

Deep fried worms? Crunchy fried worms? BBQ flavored worms? They are an excellent source of protein, which my green beret friend said they learned in search and rescue and survival training. He said they are very tasty with a little bit of hot sauce poured on them. They might be, but ask the people that ate them after chugging the liquor and swallowed the worm in the bottle!

I am totally on the same page as ALL of you! Yep, she (Vortex) definitely has the nostalgia and the Arrow elegance. Don't worry, homestar92. I have a (very) soft spot for Arrow rides too. <3 PKIVortex, I also really LOOOOVE Magnum! Vortex and Magnum are my favorite Arrows. PhantomTheater, I so totally agree with the part of your post in the quote that I underlined. I'm always excited just to step on one of Vortex's trains, let alone ANY Arrow trains!

I love Arrow products. My first and second coasters were Arrow loopers, so I feel right at home in an Arrow Looper train.

I really wouldn't want to see a flat honestly. I would like to see a roller coaster!!

I love Arrow coasters, even more then the B&M's of today, call me crazy I guess, but Vortex is one of my all time favoirte coasters, along with Magnum at CP.

-When riding Thunder Road, do not ride in a 3rd row of any car...if you thought The Racer was rough in a wheel seat, it will seem smooth after Thunder Road in a #/3 seat. (based on 2011 experiences) -On Hurler, don't let your back touch the seat behind you, and you will be fine. -When looking for the flying scooters, keep in mind that they placed it in the kid area. You aren't riding it properly if you don't scare away at least one parent from the line with the way you fly.

Racer is almost always a walk-on, but yet delivered over 1,300,000 rides. Firehawk has an hour plus wait every single day, but has given only 650,000 rides. Wait lines don't tally the number of actual riders. not to mention FH has a poor rider capacity thats why lines are long

It may not have done enough rides to warrant keeping it around. Also they might wana use the space for a future ride, it would be a great spot for a station on a new coaster or what not since they want to keep using sob's station for wolf haunt.

^ That is generally true, but in my comment was dealing with season pass sales and how they should be discounted. Per caps is another can of worms.

JCPenny relies on customers coming multiple times per year, not one purchase/ year as in the case of any park's season pass.

I think Kings Island needs another new ride to show up in the skyline. With the loss of SOB, the only rides people see from the highway is Diamondback, Eiffel Tower, and WindSeeker. So hopefully the next roller coaster that is built becomes a record breaker like SOB was. I'm not saying build another wooden roller coaster, but if they want to, go right ahead. I think this would be a great time for improving the foundations by building something the state of Ohio doesn't have yet. My vote would be a Floorless roller coaster!

^ That's probably it, in all actuality. I like several violent coasters, and getting ridiculous (and occasionally somewhat painful) airtime on Magnum is probably one of my favorite things about that ride. I love sitting in the back and watching the heads in front of me quickly hop out of view as the train lurches over the last series of bunny hops. You can even ask Gator--I spent (and enjoyed) more laps in Blue Racer's last row than I intended at Coasting for Kids, and the ride was moderately jackhammering back there. But hey, to each his own! (Then again, I was also half-comatose from lack of sleep at Coasting for Kids, so maybe that isn't the best example...)

You must not like airtime... floater that is (See what I did there). The third hill in that seat (3-2) is one of the most amazing coaster moments of all time. I love 1-3 but 2-2 and 3-2 are sublime. So smooth and re-rideable. Probably the only coaster I've gone 10+ laps on consecutively. BTW 8 on Raptor in abt. 45 mins was not a good idea Truce accepted.

Seing the people on the ground really puts the size of SOB into perspective and makes that structure falling... something so dramatic I'm lost for words. I can't imagine how loud that was, and that's coming from a guy who plays Mesa Bogie Triple Recs.. Schrute, I can't imagine them wanting to risk the liability.

Sitting in the dorm today, discussing Cedar Point with another guy from PA. He insisted the Millenium Force and Steel Force at Dorney were the exact same ride, built by the same company and everything. I won a bet.

With my experience in the security in the past, that clown should have at least received a ban from the park.

KI doesnt need to hire any website editors. They can just come here and look for one of the KIC memebers to point out all the mistakes.

Just for the record: Son of Beast also had said "awe" factor to an incredible degree, possibly even when it was not running. It was one of the most visually impressive roller coasters ever built, with its incredible 218-foot-tall wooden structure and the huge "dip" before the first drop...of course, looking good from off-ride and actually being good are two different things...

If there is one ride that gives the "awe factor" it is Top Thrill Dragster without a doubt.

IMO, a "flagship" ride needs to have that "awe factor" to non riders. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've went to the park with non coaster riders and they have stopped to watch Vortex for several minutes.

Flight Deck got more electoral rides while Back Lot got more popular rides.

The day Vortex leaves is the day I stop buying season passes. And no, I'm not joking. Vortex and Beast are just about the only rides at KI that I can still enjoy every single time I ride them. The others have all gotten to the point where they frequently bore me. I love Vortex so much that it is one of the central reasons I visit the park as often as I do.

I totally believe it, having been to the park 20 plus times this year and seeing the lines; I call conspiracy and im contacting Jesse Ventura.

Rumor has it that the kids who run the Flight Deck purposely fudged the numbers in order to "get even" with the kids who run the Back Lot Stunt Coaster. Glad someone else noticed the conspiracy.

Haunt just brings some weird people in. Big crowds, bad people, serious problems.

They didn't want to do anything at all at first except throw him out for the night. I told them that it was unacceptable! So my 2 coworkers and I wrote statements, so they definently charged him with disorderly, cause it would stick. It could later escolate to assault if I developed bruising or injuries, which didn't. At least he earned a dent in his beer money and learned (I hope) not to grab on people. The scary thing was that I was surrounded by people, even with kids, and no one even looked twice while I'm screaming to be let go while trying to fight back! I told security "what if I was your daughter or sister?" Waaaay scary.

Or public intoxication? Or battery?

Why couldn't he be charged with assault?

Why does Mysteria have to go because it isn't scary? Why can't it just be a warm up haunt for the people who aren't quite ready for the major ones?

I used to do a lot of martial arts and have a tendency to swing when I get scared too. I don't mean too, but sometimes it's a reflex that I can't control. A couple years ago I elbowed an actor in Club Blood, I apologized immediately. Luckily it happened to be someone that I knew and they were fine, but I still felt bad. I usually don't go through many mazes because of this, but I still can't stand that people would do something like this on purpose, when they know that they're going to be scared.
