I've known some park owners who dropped angry guests into the lake. Count your blessings. I didn't say it was a real park.

The problem would be where do you draw the line. What happens when a storm rolls through and the rides have to shut down for thirty minutes due to weather in the area? Do you give everyone a free one time use fastpass? On busy Saturdays, there can be a lot of people in lines, and the logistics of the thing do not just work out.

I went to Disney World back in August of 2011 and both Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain weren't working. I was very disappointed especially since we only had one day in the Magic Kingdom and I had my niece and nephew with me, both of who have never been to Disney World. However, what can you do? These rides are just a big machine, and they break down. We just moved on to other rides and I occasionally would check back throughout the day. Unfortunately Thunder Mountain Railroad never re-opened, but we did get to do Splash Mountain when it opened for just a few minutes at the very end of the operating day. I never once thought about chewing someone out over it. And Disney World isn't really a place you can go back to again and again. It's usually a once a year (if that) vacation destination. So if you don't get to ride something on your visit, more than likely you'll have to wait until you come back again the next year.

My wife and I went down to Universal last summer/fall. We had stayed at a resort park and bought our meal plan tickets. We were suppose to get our souvenoir cups from AAA in Cincy. We never did and AAA told us to get them from the park when we arrived. The park told us that AAA was wrong but they were going to take care of everything. To make up for the "lost time" (going to a restuarant, then having to find customer service and wait in line - a total of 20 minutes?) the wonderful woman in Customer Service then walked with us to a restuarant, got us our cup and bands, then walked through the park with us all the way back to the simpson ride and got us to the front of the line (we had fast passes so no other ride really needed to be jumped ahead). She also gave us a bunch of info about the park and answered every question, even if she probably shouldnt have. I will never tell those secrets, but she took care of us and we didnt complain. Moral of the story, sometimes you get more flies with honey than vinegar.

You'd have to be a TV star, or a "family" of TV stars to pull that off. At least in the 1970s, methinks.

As a kid, I really thought that it was neat. (I also, for a little bit, believed that the HB cartoons somehow really came from that building (they used to play the theme songs from the Jetsons, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, etc. over loudspeakers attached to the exterior of the building.) I asked my mom if it was true, and she said "No, honey, they're made way out in California." Still loved the illusion, though! )

First off I want to apologize for using the posessive form of the word King. I didn't realize that it would affect people that much. Next, I bought the auction from the eBay link. They are all official lighters from Kings Island. Last year I won three of them in the arcade closest to the entrance to The Racer. I currently have a red version of the Firehawk lighter and two versions of the tribal logo Kings Island lighters. One is black and the other is brushed aluminum just like the one in the auction picture. The guy that sold the ones on eBay said he had a season pass a few years ago. He won them from the arcades just as I did. I have a season pass for this year so I will look around to see what I can find. I am not a smoker. Never have been and never will be. I like to collect the Zippo lighters from Kings Island because they look cool. I like the artwork on them. Also, I would like to thank the people that gave an honest answer.

Be careful with the claim that it was the only looping wooden roller coaster ever, or that it was the first. That was not the record Paramount claimed, and for good reason! Thanks, Terp.

Handing out something for free due to acts of god/ out of the control of the park has the potential to create a: "can open, worms EVERYWHERE!" scenario. Handing out a freebee for 100 could **** off 1000 for their own "issue".

Umm... maybe for something bigger than a ride breaking down, since that does happen a lot. It's unenjoyable, but it'll happen. If you got stuck on a ride for an hour+ in 90 degree weather, than yes I think such a thing would be a fit "sorry".

*fairground carousel plays* why do people complain that KI had more trees back then than it does now!(rivertown is an exception though)that proves their are more trees now than then(blsc is an exception also)

This is one of the most ridiculous posts on this site I've ever seen.

According to the Fun Perks site I was there 6 times, so I guess that would put me at 7 if my first visit wasn't counted. My biggest regret was missing out on Haunt. With the way my summer is shaping up, even though I have a pass, I'll be lucky if I'm able to make it out there 6 times this season, but hopefully one of my visits will be in October.

I wish the fountain lights still lit up like that.

I would get in line for Maverick just for my free pass. Sorry,I have bad luck with that one, several hours total of bad luck. I think its just the nature of The Beast(no pun intended), you win some you lose some,you cant just expect a handout everytime something goes wrong in life.I get frustrated when a ride shuts down but I try to remind myself Im in an amusement park and it could be alot worse! I have been stopped on rides for several minutes and didnt want anything,but if I was stopped on WindSeeker for over an hour! I want some free passes or something!

Totally agree. Also, what if someone is waiting in line for 2 hours, and someone just enters the line 2 minutes before the ride breaks down? Where do you judge where to stop handing out passes? I wish they would give some sort of time frame. I understand why they don't (when unforseen issues arise you have angry guest), but it would be helpful to know if it's going to take in the neighborhood of a half hour, or if it'd be closer to three.

I recall in the mid 70's at the stage just to the left of the Scooby Doo coaster there was a magic act. The magician would do a trick with rope where he would tie a knot in the rope, then slide the knot off the rope. He would take the knot and toss it into the audience. My family kept going back to the show untill he finally tossed me the knot. That was also when there was a magic shop and kite store on International Street....

I love the little compass directional thing on top of the building. I imagine that was fun while up on the Eiffel Tower

water features are generally a pain in the butt to maintain, which is a shame b/c it was a beautiful part of the park back in its day, would love to see it come back to its original glory, or short of that, be converted to something other than a "smoking" area.

Nearly all of The Tomb Raider props were removed for a reason. Not just because they didn't suit The Crypt. Put them back and things could get interesting, exciting (for IP types), and probably costly. To put it mildly.

So is Cincinnati! Is there a point to the crime and Heroin statements? First off, Cincinnati probably has a higher crime rate just based on population alone - especially taking into account the metro area. At the same time, Cincinnati doesn't seem to be having the same heroin issue that Louisville's media outlets continually report on in that fine city. And before you took a slight at the Queen City, there was a point to DieselTech's "crime and heroin" statements. Whether or not Cincinnati has a crime issue is irrelevant. Kings Island isn't in Cincinnati, it's about 20 miles north of the downtown core in an affluent suburb where the lawns are manicured, the sprawl and neighboring attractions are plentiful. Kentucky Kingdom is in downtown Louisville and perception is key. Personally, I love visiting Louisville just as much as I do visiting downtown Cincinnati. However, the area surrounding Kentucky Kingdom isn't known for the friendly neighbors. I remember picking my friend up who's repair business was within view of the Twisted Twins: "Hey Greg, ready for lunch?" - "Yeah, but first get your car off the street and park in our garage." Not to mention, Kentucky Kingdom wasn't really well known for its classy guests throughout the day and at the wrestling shows. Which begs another question as to why other parks would want midget wrestling? Cincinnati has the same if not worse heroin problems that Louisville is having. You don't know about it, because the local news doesn't care to report about it. It is a regional problem, not a local one. It used to be that heroin was the expensive drug. Now it is cheap. Whatever it is being laced with is killing people -- quickly. 3 years ago, we were lucky to see a drug overdose once every 3-6 months. Now we see at least 1 a week. Sometimes we see 2 or 3 a week, in a small suburb of Cincinnati. Multiply that across the area, and you will find out just how big the true problem is. It knocks people out then stops their ability to breathe. I have seen it enough in the past couple of years to know. That is an extremely short sighted view. OTR isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. The other neighborhoods are still having issues dealing with crime, and heroin use is everywhere. Not every bad thing that goes on is restricted to OTR anymore. Recent news indicates bigger issues in Westwood and Avondale related to crime and other issues as compared to OTR. YOu don't find it around Fountain Square, due to "Downtown Services" which is CPD police unit that patrols the city's center hub, helps people out with directions, and places to go, and makes sure the riff raff doesn't get to stay downtown. Hyde Park isn't going to have issues either, being one of the most desirable places in the nation to live. There are tons of other Cincinnati neighborhoods and suburbs that do have those problems. 10-15 years ago, OTR was a ghetto. Most of that is gone now, and those groups have been forced into Avondale, Westwood, and Fairmount, and other neighborhoods, still within the city limits.

I'd say make the last car a cop car and call it a day....
