  1. Oh my gosh, they're actually doing something related to theme of Oktoberfest. I do like this new Cedar Fair...

  3. You're pretty similar to where I used to be (I lost a significant amount of weight last year before my wedding) and I found Diamondback, Beast and Racer to be pretty snug but still rideable. Firehawk was uncomfortable on my chest (still is, the girls didn't really go anywhere) and Drop Tower required some finessing to get them in. Flight of Fear and BLSC were sometimes a struggle to get the belt hooked because it required twisting, which knocked the bar up too high, but ride ops will buckle it for you so it wasn't a very big deal. Diamondback has a test seat before the ride entrance that you can try, and you can also go up the exit of any ride and ask to try the seat before waiting in line. Be aware, however, that each seat on the train will be a little different, so if you can just barely get it in one seat that doesn't guarantee you will fit in every seat. They are mechanical and only have to be within tolerances, not exact specifications. I don't want to get all preachy, but after barely fitting into Millennium Force in 2011 and almost having to take my first walk of shame, I decided it was time to make some major changes. Three pants sizes gone and I fit in everything with room to spare. I even had slack in the seatbelt of Top Thrill Dragster for the first time ever. Definitely something to consider. I'd be more than willing to direct you to some resources to help you with lifestyle changes that made all the difference to me.

  4. I'm starting to wonder if the clock above Festhaus with the people who moved around (I obviously don't know what they are called) will work this year. I can picture Mr. Ouimet getting his first tour of Kings Island and asking why it doesn't work.

  5. O. M. G!!! As if Hank's Burrito Shack didn't cause me to spend more money at the park last year, now they're bringing back German food?!?!? I'll have some tough choices this year. Hank's or Bier Garten? I think I'll just have to make it easy on myself and alternate each time. I loved my days of working Bier Garten in '92 & '93 (or actually Oktoberfest Gardens as it was known then, but I always liked the name Bier Garten better), and I am so glad they're bringing it back, even if it is just the back bar.

  12. Yes, the boat ride line is at a T by the river. However there is no path along the river to the carousel. There is a boardwalk but it only goes to the rental pavilions which I believe are behind Asia Quest. The only way to get to the boat ride through public areas is via Australia and the Islands exhibits (past the gibbons and the komodo dragon). On the map posted above it shows empty space by the boardwalk, behind the carousel, but I'm pretty sure that's all admin buildings. Inncorrect there are no admin buildings there, it is a pretty open space, but if this exhibit is for just one year I cant see the Zoo really transforming the area too much, probably just the boat ride. Also when did you work thisride? you said the themeing was over a decade old, but this ride isnt even a decade old I'm pretty sure the boat ride has been there since before it was Australia and the Islands. I'm fairly certain it was there in my first visit in 2001. I worked there last year from early March to late June. I worked the boat ride most of the weekends in April and May as there were only a few of us trained on it, so even though it wasn't in my area I somehow ended up there all the time. I also worked on the train and carousel, though my home was Sea Dragon. I left the Zoo after I fell and broke my foot working the coaster.

  13. They had one of these in Downtown Disney. It's called T-Rex Cafe. It's kind of like a Rainforest Cafe except with Dinosaurs. The family and I ate there when we vacationed at Disney back in 2011 and it was a really neat experience. Maybe KI should put one of these near Dinosaurs Alive, or maybe a scaled down version. It was quite a big place!

It's great that this community is showing this kind of concern for one of our members and I believe he is pleased that there is an attempt to keep his thread going until he returns Enjoy this shot of the terra cotta reliefs that were once affixed to the former "Kafe Kilimanjaro" in "Adventure Village"

  17. I like riding with friends and family, but my absolute favorite person to ride with is my daughter, GatorGirl, especially if it marks some sort of "first" for her. My avatar is the two of us on Tennessee Tornado (picture was taken on the final brake run, which we had been sitting on for over 5 minutes by that point). It was her first time on it, and her first time to be on any coaster with inversions. When we started that day, she said she wasn't ready to go upside down on a coaster, so we let it go and didn't pressure her. But she heard all of us talking about how fun TT is, and she changed her mind. She of course loved it, and also did Mystery Mine that day. Two weeks later, she rode Vortex for the first time (again with me) and loved that too.

  21. I love amusement parks about as much as I love food, which is a lot. I could easily fit into any ride 3-4 years ago, but ever since my close call with drop zone the last time I went to KI I've been paranoid about not being able to fit. I just could not deal with the embarrassment of being asked to leave a line because of being too fat. I was wondering if anyone had any input for me. I don't have my exact measurements, but I'm a 5'8, 260 lb female with a 42DD bra size(it matters for the chest restraints!). Is there anyone with a similiar body type that has been there recently and could fit on most things? Could you not fit on some rides? Which ones? Anything helps!

  22. Well you are 5'11" - same height as my dad and he's 210. He fits on every ride perfectly. If you were say, 5'4" it would be a different story...

  28. Can't say anything with certainty, but it comes down to body proportions, which there isn't exactly a simple height/weight equation for unfortunately. Especially for a ride like Diamondback. Try contacting KI Guest Relations about specific measurments?

  31. Last night, my most recent KI dream started with me being in line for WindSeeker. Strangely enough, all my friends from school were there too! I went into the ride area, thinking that I had forgotten my seat number, so I just sat in a random seat. Now, the thing I don't like about ride dreams like this is that I never encounter the real-life ride experience. This was apparently the case, again. The ride only went up a little ways and then stopped, and then this marching band with all these dancers came in right under the ride, and put on a show! I thought it was interesting, despite the fact that the ride stood still the whole time. When I was back on the ground, I thought, "I'll ride WindSeeker one more time; then I'll ride Vortex." By that time it was evening. The sun was setting, the lights were coming on and all my school friends had mysteriously disappeared. In the dream, WindSeeker's lights looked just like they did in real life! I rode WS again. This time, the ride actually went up pretty high, although it rotated very slowly. Afterward, this other ride, which looked almost the same as WindSeeker, caught my attention. The other ride stood on the other side of Vortex, and had exactly the same looks as WindSeeker, lights and everything. But this one didn't just go up and down a tower. It also went around a track circuit. I walked over to the ride, looked at it, and exclaimed, "It's Kings Island's new ride!!!" I never rode the ride though; before I knew it, my radio alarm was going off and pulling me away from dream land. I had almost no trouble recalling that dream in my memory after I woke up, and as I did, I thought, "I'm so posting this on KIC when I get home from school today..." -BFF, who hopes to ride WindSeeker as soon as possible this year, since it is one of her favorite rides.

  32. The boat ride is actually pretty far off the beaten path from the rest of Australia. When I worked in rides there, they tended to just put you at the boat ride for multiple rotations because it was such a far walk from everything else. I didn't mind that, it was a fun ride to work. But the ride itself was pretty .... well, boring. There are many animal exhibits that aren't used anymore, and a lot of the theming was just run down and old because it hadn't been updated in probably a decade or more. I think it'll be pretty cool as a dino exhibit, and it's isolated location will make it easy to "close off" into a seperate section. The area between the komodo dragon exhibit and the boat ride is empty, and the only animal back there is the black swan, which can also be viewed from the other side of it's lake.

  33. I lost a phone off Gemini at Cedar Point in 09. That was kind of embarrassing, especially as it was in a fastened cargo pocket. Lol. That pair of pants now has zippers on the pockets. People lose phones out of pockets pretty much constantly on some rides. Diamondback is one of them. Mystery Mine and Wild Eagle at Dollywood are also cell phone theives. We picked up an average of 2-5 from under Mystery Mine daily. We could always tell whether it came out of a pocket or out of a hand based on where in the ride they lost it. Under the loop: pocket. At the bottom of the first drop: hand. We weren't in a hurry to pick up the phones at the bottom of the first drop for that reason.

  36. Wow that is insane! Is the actual bathead from the ride? Thanks for sharing! In that earlier thread I went into depth about some of these items that I acquired. This example was the first to be pulled from the mold, cast in fiberglass and fully painted for management approval. Somewhere along the way it was decided that not all the colors represented in this example were used once it went into full production. Who knows what those factors may be; money, time, appearance, etc. In any case, it was never used inside the park on the ride. I also own the original presentation of The Beastie logo this is similar in nature to The Bat head. ~Josh

  40. I have pictures and videos of most of the dark rides at Disney World. However, taking video or pictures on a dark ride and taking video or pictures on a roller coaster are quite different. Not sure how anyone could get hurt by video taping Pirates of the Caribbean. If you dropped your camera, it'll be your loss. It's not like it's going to fly back and hit someone in the face at 70 miles an hour!

  43. I'm curious to check out the topography of the entire area. I think I was always under the impression it was relatively flat, but from the photos it looks otherwise. I've never actually been to the park without S.O.B., so it will definitely be different.

  44. I have a sudden desire to ride Drop Tower to get a really good look at that area! It would be cool to get a sense of how a new coaster could fit on that land!

  46. There literally were a ton of footers. They might have taken them out for various reasons. Look at the area where these footers are, not much grass. They might have been taken out to allow for the land to heal and grow grass again. They could have been in the way of an expansion of a a walk way, a new maintenance building coming in, etc. As of now, everything is speculation.

  47. There is always the possibility that the bigger thrills will stay a few hours north. KI is really more of a family park as it is currently constituted anyway. With an award winning kids area and a number of family friendly rides and coasters. There are seven roller coasters that one could argue are family friendly along with pretty much every flat minus Drop Tower, Delirium, and WindSeeker. Is it crazy to think that they may continue to embrace this aspect of the park and add something that isn't a shiny new B&M/Intamin monster? Isn't something more along the lines of Shoot the Rapids or a family friendly dark ride just as likely? I think Ouimet is very aware that in park spending is where parks are going to have to look to increase revenues, as attendance across the board has been relatively flat the last few years. Who spends the most in the park during their visits? Families.

  48. Just once, I would have liked to talk about what the OP posted about, TOPGUN1993 in this case. I finally saw an opportunity to discuss this topic, but as soon as I opened it up, I already realized that the topic had been hijacked by "diversion" talk and facepalm pictures. That force the OP to just edit their original entry because they realize it's pointless to even continue. It is something like this that make me not want to be a part of this site anymore. I come here to discuss the topics in the title, not the "diversion." If all the topics start turning to "diversions" then what's the point of even posting? I'm sorry Interpreter, but I don't know what definition you are using for diversion, because when I looked it up on Merriam-Webster it said something that it would be the act of providing entertainment. In reality it ticks me off that it's done one all kinds of topics throwing people off. I'm not entertained. I would rather be entertained by the original topic than a "diversion."
