Sorry for bringing back a thread that was almost dead....but this I think is worth it Pictured below is the Son of Beast station as of Today. Note the open ends (no Wolf Pack). My friend John C. took this picture while on rounds at the park. P.S. this is my 1,000th post!8 points

Good thing that doesn't look tacky. Also, is it me or does that pic of the station sum up the entire SOB project from planning to demolition?7 points

Just came across this photoshop I did awhile back. Freaky.3 points

155 days since my last visit to KI. 134 days since my last visit to a park (Dollywood) and coaster ride (Thunderhead). 24 days, 20 hours and 6 minutes to go...2 points
-
My pick would be Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado. Eagle's good, but I still prefer Tornado. Also, a trip to Dollywood is not complete without a ride on the Fury.2 points

According to the park Wolf pack will remain in that building.2 points

I will have to look into that Jr for Birdy, my dad was going to go with me and if I upgraded, he'd have to wait while I get my early rides. He said he was fine with that, but if we can get in early with a hotel ticket deal, all the better. That said, we're weighing all the options, including upgrade the pass and stay at a cheap hotel, which could also save me money in the end, as without having looked at prices, I'm assumming the "official" Cedar Point hotels cost a fair bit more than, say, a Comfort Inn would.1 point

There are what looks to be a hydraulic pump, maybe an air compressor and other mechanical items in there. Not sure why it's left, other than a "just in case".1 point

I know, which is why I find this pic odd, with the walls on the inside of the station down. This past regular season, the props/walls for Wolf Pack stayed up. However, the walls and props aren't there. I was also about to point out that that is the side the station that the train left out of, not entered. From the midway you saw the train enter the station not leave.1 point

FWIW, WindSeeker at KI was sitting about half way up this morning around 10:00 am. I'd assume going thru testing in anticipation of opening day or perhaps a later opening at some point this season.1 point

That's quite a shame. That building has so much more potential during haunt than just a place "packed with wolves". S.O.B. who likes to point out the obvious...1 point

It still amazes me that their pass system is such a mess 5+ years after they purchased Paramount Parks. The easiest way to solve 90% of the problems would be to store all the passholder info in a single central database that can be accessed from any park, regardless of the pass type or location purchased. That would allow every park to look up any CF passholder and verify their status. I'm beginning to wonder if they store the regular/gold pass info separately from platinum pass info.1 point

I really hope all businesses are able to recover. Coney Island is one of my favorite places ever, for many reasons.1 point

No, unfortunately not... it's still the same old awful short maze.1 point

However, I upgraded my KI Gold Pass at Carowinds 2 years ago....it wasn't a fun process even after verifying via numerous phone calls I could do so.1 point

I guess my point is, people with FLP don't get to jump onto the ride as soon as they hit the station. Some rides have queue lanes like Diamond back, and you go straight to the station. As I mentioned before, if too many FLP holders hit the line at once, not all of them get to go into the station at once. They don't seat FLP holders to the exclusion of everyone else. They alternate between the lines to ensure that the non-FLP holders get to move through the line as well. Rather than doing what Disney does (at least according to other posters) and charging everyone for the option to jump ahead in line. CF gives park goers the option. If CF does what Disney does, the price of tickets and passes will skyrocket and that in itself would probably price a lot of people out of even being able to go to the park...period. My b/f and I are by no means loaded... We plan our trips WAY in advance, and budget ourselves accordingly to be able to pay for the things like the FLP. Do we purchase FLP at Kings Island? No, it's our home park and we can go whenever. Do I purchase them when I go to Cedar Point or other out of town parks? Yes, our visits to those parks are extremely limited and we want to get as much out of our trip as we can.1 point

I dont know, that appears to be four floors (based on stair case design)... average story (floor) being about 10 feet or so... thats 40 feet up...1 point
-
That station always felt much higher up than that picture shows.1 point
-
And know that in years past, the upgrade could only be done at the park where the pass was purchased...in this case at Kings Island, not at Cedar Point.1 point
-
I find it cool in a park history-kind of way (like The Bat's and King Cobra's footers) that the station track still remains. It must be part of the structure supporting Wolf Pack.1 point

Great pic! I still think it sticks out like a sore thumb but oh well.1 point

I did capitalize "Date" after all. Thanks for playing, maybe I made a heart or 2 briefly thump faster. I hope everyone has a great April Fools/ Reds opening day! Ours is just under 26 days, hang on, smile, we're almost there.1 point

I call bull---- I was just at the park, with green spiked hair, and cannot find the rides you are referring to.1 point

Gee. What was the second line for Diamondback for? Future premium line.... Or single rider line. You pays your money and you takes your choices. Terp, who likes to ask questions.1 point

You saw two flat rides in the grassy area? Was there a shadowy figure in a coat and hat, standing on a concrete platform, using an 8mm home movie camera, too?1 point

I had a dream I was on Tennessee Tornado this afternoon .... oh wait, no I actually was.1 point

Sorry for the bump, but it's official - I'm going to Dollywood for sure next week! (most likely Wednesday, April 3) The tips have been helpful and I am making sure to keep them in mind! (speaking of Dollywood, I had a dream last night that I was riding Tennessee Tornado.)1 point

its always a good thing to hear when people who love there park get a job in the park. it will open/expand/broaden your horizon/better outlook of what exactly goes on behind the scenes to make the park functional.1 point
-
The same happened to me since my sister worked in the front gate gift shop. However, it was extremely peaceful to sit in front of the fountain without any guests, just relaxing from the long hot day1 point
-
Thanks to everyone for the advice! I got the job! I'll be working Front St. Pizza (LaRosa's) this season!1 point

Yes, definitely give the impression you will not steal. If you walk in with pantyhose on your head and scream "hands up!", you may not get the job.1 point

This time of year I always reflect a little on my years working at KI. This is an exciting time for those newly hired individuals that will experience their first job ever and for returning employees who will reacquaint themselves with coworkers from previous seasons. To ask what it was like to work at the park is a very difficult question to answer because you will get an array of responses based on variables such as that individuals current age, the age they were when they worked at the park, as well as, which decade that that individual worked at the park, etc. I worked in the games dept. during the mid 90's and that experience was one of the greatest times of my life! But it was a different time then and people were into different things. Guests had a lot more loose change at their disposal so many more were playing the games (and the prizes were very different as well - I'll save my thoughts on this matter). The interactions with guests was my favorite part of being in the games department For those applying this year, I wish you great success! Savor the experience and make the most of it! After nearly 20 years from when I was first hired, I have about 10 good friends I still keep up with from that old games crew1 point

I like the smell of Adventure Expresses first tunnel. It's got a musty "barn" smell to it. I also like the smell of fresh air you get on Diamondback.1 point

I will NOT get exhausted before the ride starts. Just saying Then you're not putting enough effort into spinning. Tee hee! We like to go around in circles...as fast as ever we can. Do you need to sit on the bench for a while there, Terpy?1 point

I really believe that one day, there will be a headline somewhere ... "Two injured in spinning ride accident" because the car went flying off the ride.1 point

Just let me know when you'll be there, and I'll be glad to give you one ride on Lemon Twist. I limit myself one ride a day - my arms and fingers are really, REALLY sore after a ride on it. Plus, I end up exhausted!1 point

Did you read the entire thread? See what type of system is used, if needed, for Drop Tower.1 point

If the State of California approves this system, in particular, you can be assured this is the real fix. What did you expect? Terp, who likes to ask questions.1 point

Interesting considering they don't seem to know what they'll be hiring for. Do they just need lifeguards? We'll see toward the end of the year won't we? I think we'll see towards the end of April when the 90 day back out period ends. Either Hart will have the financing or he won't. I would assume in order to secure that financing he has to give specific details to anyone who's going to give him money. I figure, if that happens, we'll finally have some details on exactly what is opening and when.1 point

I'm curious to check out the topography of the entire area. I think I was always under the impression it was relatively flat, but from the photos it looks otherwise. I've never actually been to the park without S.O.B., so it will definitely be different.1 point
