We caught the first show at noon where many Brady Bunch superfans waited hours before the park opened to get in line to get the front row seats. There was also quite the line wrapped around the outside of the building 45 minutes before the show started. The show opened up with Barry Williams (Greg Brady) singing and introducing his fellow cast members. The crew than showed clips of their favorite episodes including The Cincinnati Kids at Kings Island. Barry performed "The Real Greg Brady" followed by a Q&A session. Members of the audience were invited on stage to learn the Brady dance to "Its a Sunshine Day." After dancers returned to their seats the audience was invited to get their photos and autographs from the stars. Photos of the days events here.9 points

Hello all...it's been awhile since I've posted here and it's also been awhile since I've made a trip out to Kings Island, but for the sixth straight year I will be visiting Kings Island with Gold Pass in tow. This trip was a random one, arriving around 8pm with the intent of getting in a long overdue night ride on The Beast. The park was packed this evening, with Music in the Parks taking place. However, most groups were either meeting up or departing when I arrived. With this in mind, I proceeded into the park and was relieved that the instant renewal was a fast and seamless process. First ride of the evening was Adventure Express. The wait was approximately 20 minutes and the line was around halfway back to the midway itself. However, the line moved fairly quickly and it's weird not seeing Son of Beast right on the other side. After this ride, I headed over to The Racer. Chose the blue side which was approximately a 10 minute wait. Amazing ride as always. While on this side of the park, I went and checked out the construction happening over in Action Zone and I officially cannot wait to see what this develops into. Only time will tell what Don, Greg, and company have in store for Action Zone and I cannot wait for 2014. I'm excited! While in the vicinity, I headed over to Flight Deck. Only a 2 train wait itself, this provided a unique perspective as well into the massive land clearing and construction happening in the area. Similarly to Adventure Express, it's weird not seeing Son of Beast mere feet away from this attraction and it's different for both rides. Finally, I headed over to The Beast to get my first night ride in several years, and it was well worth the hour wait, which includes the downtime for the fireworks. I forgot exactly how amazing a night ride on The Beast is, and tonight was no exception. In closing, regarding the construction happening over in Action Zone, whatever is coming, most likely a coaster, is going to be HUGE. The pictures that I have seen in other trip reports and here on KIC are great but to put it in perspective requires you to see this in person. Whatever is planned for 2014 will be massive and will put Kings Island back on the map. I cannot wait to see how this unfolds. Until next time folks, keep ridin' on...9 points

You know, the legend is that the scream of a Banshee signifies the death of a family member. Well, we recently witnessed the death of a member in the only coaster "family" at Kings Island. Furthermore, if this is a coaster, and is B&M, then it will surely have the trademark B&M "roar", as well as screaming riders. Boom. Potential Banshee name justified.9 points

I've heard that story as well from a former board member, but from how he put it, even they felt like they were in the dark as to what exactly was going on. What a wonderful work environment. My favorite tale of all-time is the Dispatch Master Transport disaster, but that's another thread for another day. Terp, you're so dead-on about the simple word "savor". This type of excitement only comes around now and then. It's fun when one of your home parks becomes the center of the coaster universe.8 points

Nor country, bluegrass, R&B... Since it's in the Kings Island Polls under Kings Island Discussion forums, I vote for Taft/KECO gate music or Paramount gate music.7 points

Or not... It is probably the Travel Channel trying to draw in more viewers. If they do announce something, it is probably only going to be something new to the general viewing audience. We, as enthusiasts, probably already know.5 points

The joy of not knowing, yet trying to divine what's up. The Internet has taken much of that away. Rare is the time, like now, that few know, and even few claim to. The joy of walking into a park having no idea of what new ride awaits, other than a name and perhaps a billboard, radio ad or tv commercial. Those days are gone forever. That being said, back then there also was no special time like this. It's an incredible time. Savor, indeed.5 points

There was not any real "backlash" about the name Banshee. In fact, unless you worked at Cedar Point or read the Sandusky Register, you would have no idea it was even suggested at the time. You have to remember the context as well. In the mid-90's, our society was engulfed in "political correctness" (have we made our way out?). Cedar Point was, literally, at its peak in attendance. Maggie, Mean Streak, and finally Raptor had spiked attendance at where it pretty much stands today; the plateau. No one wanted to do anything to screw up the trend, especially with Millennium Force already in the works. No one knew they were at peak attendance. It was out of political correctness...fear, essentially, that Banshee was ultimately dropped. The way people talk about it today, you would think people were picketing and banging down the doors of Cedar Fair demanding a change. Not so much. It was basically a non-story, made into a story simply because it makes for an interesting bit of trivia. And yes, Banshee will be the name of some attraction in a Cedar Fair park next year. Is that what Kings Island needs?5 points

Kings Island 5-19-2013 (Brady Bunch day) This will be an extremely short TR since the Brady Bunch thing was the only reason for going today with my mom and brother. Plus I am kind of in a hurry, lol. Since it was quite apparent nearly everyone wanted to see the Brady Bunch, we mainly hung around KI Theater for about 2 1/2 hours for the 5pm showing. My brother decided to go off and do some coaster riding while me and mom stuck together for the most part. My mom was one of those moms who always picked "Peter" as her favorite when they were kids, so obviously she was looking forward to seeing him. I'll be honest...I don't think I haven't gotten reacquainted with Ohio humidity YUCK! It was a relief to be inside the Theater. I LOVED the show they did, cool seeing Barry/Greg again. They all look like they are doing well which I was glad to see. too bad I didn't get to ask the question I wanted. Oh well, lol. Yes, I did take pics...of course I did. When do I not? One ride on Flight Deck. HECK YES! How cool am I? Anyway I got a feeling this my last major post till I get back from Vegas.4 points

There was no fuss. The notion that there was has been grossly exaggerated. As far as I know, there is currently no fuss. EDIT: I also don't want to come off as pretending that I know exactly what happened; as mentioned above, even those in CP's inner circle were in the dark to a certain degree...so whether it was a PC move, or a trademark fumble (which actually seems more plausible)...who knows for sure. What I can tell you, though, was that there was no "public outcry" or backlash from the name at all.4 points

It was actually nice PR spin. Reality, many claim, was a trademark dispute. It seems through some sort of voodoo, the name was already possessed.4 points

It will be a B&M inverted standup giga coaster, Son of Bat. You'll hang upside-down beneath the track.4 points

I am torn. On one hand I love tall rides. But on the other hand I do think that if were getting a B&M Giga and it were to be taller than the Eiffel Tower, I think it would take away the feeling and the majesty of the tower being the main centerpiece of the park. So maybe instead of breaking records in terms of heights, we go for something else... New At Kings Island For 2014! Kings High School: The Ride "A Ride so long you'll leave the park!"3 points

Thanks Terpy...it's good to be back. It's been a hectic few months as my work schedule only allows for evening or weekend trips out to the park plus I have just finished moving closer to Cincinnati. Mount Orab to Mason is quite a haul so it's more convenient with my new location to visit the park more often. Aside from this, I will have to head out to Batavia and see if Clermont Steel Fabricators has anything brewing in the form of coaster track.3 points

You wanna talk public outcry at CP? Try wearing a Kennywood t-shirt to part like I did yesterday. I had no fewer than 8 people, both guests and employees, make comments about it to me. The comments ranged from "yay, Kennywood" to "you're in the wrong part of town, kid" to "are you trying to start a riot or something". I didn't know people at Cedar Point even knew what a Kennywood was! Back on topic, here's a photo taken today at around 6:30pm. Based on what's visible in the park, I've got no idea what this could be. Based on what we've seen online, I've gotta agree with Shaggy's prediction. If the past holds true, we'll know in August. The whole former Son of Beast area:2 points

We went to the 5:00 show, had fun. It was completely laid back, just felt like the three of them having fun. Audience seemed to enjoy it a lot. Thought the way everything was handled by KI staff was GREAT. They handed out armbands a couple hours before the show and urged us to go do whatever we wanted in the park until the show, which we did. Came back about a half hour before the show, went in with no problems. Nice work, Kings Island!2 points

I listen to all different varieties and genres of music, however growing up in the country my whole life, I listen to country music more than anything- especially classic country such as Merle Haggard, George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty to name a few. Reminds me of my late grandfather that introduced me early in life to that genre.2 points

I would take the Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain from Indiana Beach, and put it in the Flight Commander queue area. (Pic from rcdb.com)2 points

BB1, you didn't put "pop" - the most popular music genre - on the poll. Although I wouldn't have voted for it.2 points

I personally like being on the outside of knowing. It's fun to hear everyone's ideas, and who doesn't like a bit of mystery and detective work? I'm especially intrigued to hear tonight (Travel Channel) what the supposed "biggest announcement in coaster history" could be. Could Kings Island be the focus? Fun to daydream about it being a possibility.2 points

"During off-season maintenance this past year, it was discovered that the Freedom Train needed restoration work for it to safely operate in the future. We are currently researching options for the train’s future here at Holiday World and will post updates about both trains here on the HoliBlog." That's PR spin for "We have already discovered its going to cost more to restore this train than precious profit/return will allow, but we already have too many PR problems to admit that right now, so enjoy the memories you had on the Freedom Train".2 points

I heard many people last night wondering what's going on back there in Action Zone. Whatever it will be is going to be HUGE! Wonder how long it will be for Channel 5 to get their hands on what Kings Island is cooking, similar to what they did with Diamondback?2 points

No matter what the name ends up being, we should still refer to the new coaster as Banshee on here. That'll teach them to mislead us.2 points

They blundered their media day on Thursday. Didn't get the local stations to come out as planned. A small Cincinnati waterpark making the news in Colorado is a good feel-good story, but isn't going to sell any tickets. The best of luck to them nonetheless.2 points
