You've got to remember that DB uses a ratchet system to hold down the restrains, hence the clicks. If it stops between positions, it'll reposition itself - further up or down - when any force is applied. This is normal. However, if a guest claims that their restraint came up, they are obligated to stop the ride and bring out maintenance for a check. That's likely why it had downtime.11 points

Perhaps Diamondback is jealous of Banshee. I know any time I consider buying a new car, the old one acts out.10 points

I have full faith that if there was any HINT of a "real" problem the ride would be down. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can kill a park as quick as an accident. *** Well maybe a sharknado***8 points

When Kings Island orders them I don't think there is anything wrong with DB. I think if the Park kept getting complants, The ride would and its trains would go through an inspection. But as is. I'm sure its 99% Percent safe It is far, far, far more safe than 99 percent. 99 percent safe would mean out of every million rides, there would be 10,000 unsafe incidents. That would be wholly unacceptable.7 points

Arrived at Soak City @ 5pm with my wife and daughter. Played with my family at the pirate ship. Wife and daughter did aruba tuba for the first time. Went to the kids area(place with the huge cylinder of water that turns over) rode some slides as a family. Did two laps in the spring river while holding my baby. Wife and I took turns on the 4 way waterslide as it was less than a 5min wait. I went on rendezvous run as it was a walk on. Flipped over in the tube and lost my mat, finished the ride sliding backwards on my back through the tube and down the hill, it was awsome. Wife and baby were scared. Did the new wave pool for two cycles. IT was about 7pm, so we made our way to the truck. We chowed down on turkey sandwiches and water. Went into the park and got my baby Sally a peanunts Sally doll. We gave her the option of the small or big doll and she chose the small one(cha-ching) $6 difference. I rode Delirium as it was a walk on. Wife wanted to ride Invertiblow, but the wait wasn't worth it as the baby wanted to go to Planet Snoopy. We stopped and did the carousel as it was a walk on. I love riding it with my baby. As we were getting on I lifted a handicap gentleman off his horse. After the carousel wife and baby stopped at the family bathroom and I saw this gentleman: The first thing that popped in my head was beer, so i quickly bought and shotgunned it by larossa's before the wife and baby got out of the famliy bathroom.(Wife and I does not like baby seeing daddy drinking). I looked over and saw Diamondback down: They sent empty trains a couple time and it was idle for a while. probably 30 minutes. We hit up whirly birds, red baron, peanuts 500. I started to Diamondback and they loaded a train so I was the first one in after they opened the line. Ten minute wait for the last row. I was dissapointed in the airtime. I thought I was going to get air time on the hill before the onride photo but the trim grabbed. I will be going to CP in a month so I will get my airtime fix on Magnum. Wish I had a trip planned to hershey, great adventure, and SFNE but I don't at the moment. I got my parent swap paper initialed as it was around a 30 minute wait as people were funneling in. Met up with the family and wife headed to Diamondback so baby and I hit up the great pumpkin coaster which was a walk on. Great ride as usual. Walked down to DB to meet the wife and she was not happy with her ride either. She is excited for our CP trip as she loves MF, TTD, Maverick, and wicked twister. We hit up joe cool dodgem school where my baby was running into kids alot bigger than her. She did the charlie brown fast ball or something, We then hit up the whiparound cars and the train. We walked over to WindSeeker so the baby can see the lights on it and we sat on a bench and watched the fireworks. Thats a great spot. We then headed home.6 points

I know there are other topics like this, but I don't think I've participated in one in several years. Actually, if I remember right, I really haven't done one since shortly after I joined (September 2008). So... why not? (I'm not going to add Halloween Haunt additions to this since I really don't know how much it costs the park to add new haunts.) 2015: No new rides. Use provided capital to further update fountains into a nighttime light show to compliment the fireworks. Show starts at 9:30, and the music increases in pacing, energy, and excitement until the fireworks, which have a custom orchestral score written specifically for the park that the fireworks are timed with. Keeping with the "best day of the year" theme of current management, special guests are picked from the crowd to "start" the fireworks. As the score starts a few minutes prior to the fireworks, the guests are introduced to the crowd, with the score hushed and feeling like it's barely holding back from something far bigger and celebratory. After the guests are introduced, the music builds, then pauses--and with the staff member's cue, a button is pressed to start the show. The music bursts into this grand overture that's both exciting and elegant at once. Immediately following the fireworks, the staff member wishes the crowd an iconic goodbye that KI could be known for (see Kennywood's creepy "good night" song, and the "good night Mom, good night Will" speech from pre-Dan-and-Lori Holiday World). The rest of the evening on International Street would feature an impressive light show that incorporates both the fountains and the lights lining the International Street buildings. (The IS shop lights would need updated from their current configuration.) The evening's festivities would be marketed as the whole-family equivalent of Six Flags' igNite or CP's Luminosity--though not in those words, of course. All rides receive retracking and maintenance in accordance with past precedent. 2016: Rebuild TR:TR. Remove the fast pitch game and ICEE stand adjacent to the Flight Commander queue in Coney Mall. Install a Cedar Point Giant Wheel-size Ferris wheel (Zamperla Giant Wheel?) parallel to Racer in that spot. Alternatively, build a Deno's Wonder Wheel/California Adventure-style Ferris wheel to a similar scale as Giant Wheel. It's got a view not unlike WindSeeker, but it's more family friendly. The Wonder Wheel/CA-style wheel would have the added marketable thrill aspect of the moving seats. This is assuming that either of those models have decent people capacity, which is something I'm not totally sure of. Planet Snoopy would receive a daily mid-afternoon parade show not unlike the 2005 Nickelodeon Parade (except with Peanuts characters, of course.) It would run from July 4th weekend through Labor Day. Very high-energy with recognizable, popular songs for kids and families to enjoy. I won't say how long the parade would be, because I don't know how much it costs to retrack portions of Beast/Racer in the off-season, and I don't want to neglect them for the sake of other attractions. New song list for nighttime fireworks/fountains show. Keep the custom music, of course. That stuff's probably not cheap. 2017: Replace some of the relatively higher-force portions of The Beast with Rocky Mountain Construction's Topper Track and observe maintenance cost effect, if applicable. Add a Chance Rides Aviator or Larson Flying Scooters to Planet Snoopy, to be tied into the adventures of the Red Baron. Replace airbrush shop in Oktoberfest with Chance Rides Wipeout named Der Spinnin Kegger (with appropriate theming to match, and set back a bit farther into the foliage so it doesn't stick out into the midway as much as the airbrush shop, if possible.) New song list for nighttime fireworks/fountains show. Keep the custom music! 2018: If the Topper Track proves economically promising without harming the ride experience, add more of it to The Beast and purchase new three-bench PTC trains that articulate. Remove the trim brakes (except where the structure actually requires the train be slower, if necessary.) Reprofile the second drop and turn before the second lift so that they are comfortable at the higher speeds.* Modify the banking of the second helix as closely as possible to the original 1979 configuration to re-introduce stronger laterals (as long as the structure is capable of bearing them.) The idea is to reinvent the ride without drastically changing it from what people know and love--think of the Voyage rebuild in 2012. Market the ride as The Beast being "angered" or "unleashed"... Something to indicate that there is a new reason to ride, but not indicating that the ride itself has been changed. Beast has earned its status as the ride at Kings Island, and I'd imagine it wouldn't go over well if it got a drastic remodeling. * I say this because, as I understand it, those who rode The Beast before it had trims said that the ride was not comfortable. I'm merely speculating that these would be the most uncomfortable points during the ride at higher speeds. The new articulating trains would be able to accommodate the required banking transitions that extending the second drop pullout would require. If the Topper Track didn't prove itself last year, return wooden track to the ride. If I weren't so tired and hadn't accidentally spent the last hour and a half typing this post, I'd plan out some kind of new, major attraction along the lines of Cedar Fair's recent additions. As it stands, you can use your imagination. Beyond 2018: I'd observe the finance- and public relations-related effects of the past four years and adjust my strategy from there. Edited after likes by The Interpreter, Thrill_Biscuit, Fire-Beast-OF FEAR, zombieninja, VortexBFForever, Diamondback96, BlondyRidesOn, Jr for Birdy, Sonofbeast2.0, and rcwizard13 to correct grammar and to remove a couple iterations of "of course". I really shouldn't post while drowsy, people.6 points

I have been following the decoding thread for quite some time now this is my first time posting. I will admit I am not a huge fan of inverts. And while I am somewhat disappointed we are not getting a giga or a blitz coaster, I am still very much excited of this ride. Can't wait to see this thing start going vertical.6 points

You are safe, you are fine, look at B&M's safety record & the ride op/maint. training and procedures. You are FINE... Anytime a guest says something, we actually take action & so does maint. The actual occurrence of a true emergency, highly doubtful, but if they say something it is investigated, and you are ok... Moving on6 points

If it's good for Adventure Express somehow then yes. Bringing some life into that ride would be great, more of the GP would drift over that way more if they see something that they haven't noticed before. There are some really dumb guests who will think it's a totally different ride, but with some renovations and a nice coat of new paint, the old arrow will be back to life. This is a very reasonable plan, come 2015.6 points

I was there twice in 2002, when it was SFWoA. I remember decently sized crowds throughout the park, so I was shocked when it was sold to Cedar Fair for pennies on the dollar just a couple years later. The layout was far from ideal, but I loved the atmosphere of the park and the unique collection of rides. The final closure wasn't a shock to me. After being overbuilt into a super-regional destination, it was suddenly positioned yet again as a local, family park. Unfortunately, Cedar Fair wasn't able to successfully market the downgraded park. It was not easy to convince people to pay significantly more to get into a much smaller park. In just a few weeks, the entire "wildlife" section was mothballed, headcount was trimmed significantly, Cleveland bus service was terminated, and all branding was removed. All marketing in Columbus (and presumably elsewhere outside of Cleveland) ceased immediately. They produced several bad commercials and made some major PR blunders upon reopening the park as Geauga Lake. To be fair, Cedar Fair made an honest attempt to turn the park around after their hurried initial season. A major investment was made in Wildwater Kingdom on the former SeaWorld/wildlife property, improvements were made to operations & cleanliness, and marketing fought to regain the (local) customers that SIX lost. Unfortunately, attendance was low and continued to slide. Continued downsizing of the overbuilt park was necessary, but it seemed to hurt attendance even more. The season was shortened, Halloween events were cancelled, and the new Wildwater Kingdom became by far the most popular area of the park. In 2006, even more shocking news came - Cedar Fair was taking out massive debt to pay cash for Paramount Parks. Immediately, the extremely conservative company had debt far exceeding its annual gross revenue. It had also added five successful parks, all in need of major investment. Closing GL presented an opportunity to sell under-performing assets, provide attractions for its new properties, and cut losses on a property that repeatedly failed to turn around.5 points

If you don't like water up your nose, don't ride the middle slide of the "Pineapple Pipeline" complex. It's listed as a "moderate thrill (3/5)" according to visitkingsisland.com. It's not. Water up my nose is one of the few things about water attractions that genuinely scare me. Anything in that water has a direct path into my body at that point. Sounds like it needs a trim.5 points

Drove all the way from Richmond for just 2 hours in the park and to see the announcement and I was not disappointed. Kings Island really put their best foot forward in the announcement and with the new ride. I for one am a huge fan of inverts, I believe the forces are thrilling and the ride layouts are different making the ride much more fun. Cannot wait to ride Banshee in 2014. Also, the teaser video was pretty awesome as well.5 points

Back in 2010 or 2011, I went to the park by myself on a weeknight. Unaware of the fireworks policy, I got in line for a night ride on The Beast. I didn't make it onto the ride before the temporary shutdown. Once that was announced, I decided I would bide my time and try to get on the last train. It was then announced that the delay would be extended. After which, the miked ride op and an area supervisor began a game of KI trivia with the crowd that stuck around. Because of my naturally quiet voice, I gave the kids around me the answers rather than try to yell them out myself. Eventually it was announced that The Beast would not reopen that night, but Diamondback would remain open for those of us who had stayed in line throughout the delay. While everyone else fled the station to get to DB ASAP, I calmly meandered my way down the Fast Lane stairwell and out the exit path, stopping to let the guy at the photo booth know that his ride would not reopen. I was still intent on riding the last train of the night on something. In the Diamondback station, I let anyone who got behind me in line for the back row cut ahead of me until it was announced that there would only be 2 more trains. At which point, I was exactly 2 trains away from riding. But then a couple got behind me, assuming that I was the person ahead of me's riding buddy. Wanting to be a good fellow park guest, and only caring about getting on the last train, I gave up my spot and moved a row up. I got to talk with them for a little bit while we waited, boarded and ascended 230 ft into the air and found out they were ACE members from out-of-town. I got to help improve the experience for some fellow enthusiasts while having a memorable experience myself. This is possibly my favorite KI memory, even though my original plan fell through.5 points

I was actually thinking about this today. Since Banshee is a darkly (as in spooky) themed female ride, I think it'd be appropriate to mostly play music from hard rock bands with female lead singers such as Evanescence, Flyleaf, We are The Fallen, and Halestorm (there are probably more hard rock bands with female lead singers, but the four I mentioned are all I can think of at the moment). Specifically, the following are a list of songs that I think would be cool in Banshee's queue line: Sweet Sacrifice- Evanescence My Last Breath- Evanescence Haunted- Evanscence I get wicked- Thousand Foot Krutch Falls Apart- Thousand Foot Krutch I’m so sick- Flyleaf Red Sam- Flyleaf St. John- We are the Fallen Tear the whole world down- We are the Fallen Through Hell- We Are the Fallen Salvation- Skillet Not Gonna Die (plus the cool intro -for those who have listened to Rise, you know what I'm talking about...)- Skillet Comatose- Skillet Falling inside the Black- Skillet Not Strong Enough- Apocalyptica5 points

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't the brakes currently in use magnetic? There is little chance they didn't work, if I understand the system correctly. On a side note, the trims are way to harsh in the "shed". Still one of my favorites, just wish they'd take off 1, or possibly 2 trims in that section. 100th post I think? And only 9 months, lol4 points

Id like to say that, had there not been a dick kinzel, there is absolutely 100% no chance that GL would have closed.... but then I think about it and realize that gary story would have simply had a the same "I have a bigger, ahem, ego" contest with whoever would have been in control of CP/CF at the time. Regardless, both are equally detestable in my eyes, and to say I have a "small attachment" to GL would be like saying the Hatfields have a "slight disagreement" with the McCoys. That park means/meant more to me than I can even describe here with words.4 points

Nothing's wrong with the ride or dangerous. This is what happens with social media- every single little iddy bitty detail is ridiculed and analyzed, and really for silly reasons. "I'll never think of Diamondback the same way again." Right.4 points

My best guess is that it'll be below the station much like we see on Gatekeeper. There is what appears to be a door [to the gift shop?] in the concept art of the station. The ride photo and a gift shop will be located directly below the station. The door you see in the rendering is actually the exit from the gift shop. What the rendering doesn`t show is the entrance to the ride photo, which is directly below the bump out in the station, right across from the stair, which is the exit stair. Also not pictured in the rendering, is a wheel chair elevator lift, which will be located directly to the left (in the rendering it would be behind) of the staircase. How do I know this? Well, lets just say that I have a very fun position at a local Cincinnati company. A company that was not mentioned at the announcement, but was mentioned in an article about Gatekeeper and Cedar Point. It has been tough the last couple of months, knowing but not being able to tell anything.4 points

They need to give Delirium a different paint scheme. It reminds me of a preschool right now. They should tear out the giant circle design where the water tower was and replace it with a huge planter area with trees and foliage. Then they should change the bathrooms and the gift shop's paint. Rename Stunt Crew Grill and paint it and make Flight Deck, The Bat4 points
