I don't know if this has made rounds over here yet, so apologies if this is old news. For several years, people have posted about how they'd like to see Flight Deck renamed The Bat (which, of course, is now coming.) Other people have requested things like simple repainting and care-taking of the park's finer details. Don did an interview with the folks at KIFansite concerning next year, and it looks like these sorts of things are coming in 2014. Here's a link; it's really an interesting read. A few key points: The area under Banshee's station will mainly be the photo booth, with "some" souvenirs being sold there. The On Location building will have more Banshee merchandise. The KI maintenance team will do the actual assembly of the Banshee trains. Action Zone will have a new look. The park isn't saying any more than that until we're actually at the park next April. The "gift shop" (I don't understand if they mean Banshee's gift shop or the On Location store) and Stunt Crew Grill MAY have new names. That's still being finalized. Nothing new is happening with the International Street fountains at this time. The International Street buildings have been painted. The park is exploring options for improving communication concerning wait times and whether or not a ride is down. Food options in the park will be expanded. (Not a surprise since they just hired a new chef and all, but now they're actually confirming that new things are coming.) Gold and Platinum passholder benefits will be more defined and easier to use. Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular is gone. The Bat's station won't be drastically changing. The queue underneath was removed to clean that area up. (I was wrong after all!) We're definitely in the Ouimet era, folks. The future looks like a good one!10 points

But some of us love Arizona! We hope KI doesn't desert such a fine theme! Replace the old water tower with a giant cactus--even if it's not in southwest territory.10 points

Crypt, I will say I value alot of what you post, you do contribute alot to these threads and I value your knowledge on one of my most intriguing flat rides ever...however you really do need to lighten up and relax. If this offended you I'm sorry but still. No way to retaliate with low and stupid jabs like this. Just relax, it was meant to be funny ( I chucked a bit), but if you didn't find it humerus (see what I did there lol), it's ok, you're not the target market of it. Just...everybody love everybody ok Lets not be like Pointbuzz...lots of bickering over there for whatever reason...maybe they need snickers over there8 points

43 & married with a good paying job that's putting my daughter through college. I was just messing around....guess from now on I'll only post relative information to KI. Sorry if I offended anybody. I guess the offseason and stress have gotten to me! I still don't find the joke funny, but I do retract my statement about MantisMan. Sorry for getting riled up, everyone!5 points

I am truly loving every new detail we hear about the changes/additions/upgrades not just to KI but chain wide.4 points

Wait, so we collectively don't think they were going for 'barn' with this? What was their desired look then? They should paint it red.4 points

If DB is themed as a barn.. Gemini is a retro dance club with hints of purple establishing it's royalty as "King" in the park for many years4 points

if someone renews their pass from 2013, but loses the card between then and opening day, we will replace it as a one time courtesy. If they lose their card later in the season after using it, we charge the $15 replace it. We also provide up to three (3) single day "forgotten pass" visits. So for example, if you know you still have your card, but left it at home, we can get you a temporary ticket to get in that day, free of charge. After the third occurrence of this in a single season, the card would have to be replaced for $15.3 points

He also done shows at Knott's, Valleyfair and Great America in the past. Ed supposedly has acknowledged Valleyfair before KI wrapped up the 2013 season. Probably won't know for sure for a couple months if you check the schedule on his website, it doesn't list that far yet. But I won't be shocked if he is heading to another park.3 points

Nope and nope. The I-box track is fully steel. The topper track may be partly wood, but the part that actually guides the train is still steel. Traditional wooden coasters have steel laminating the top and sides of the track, but that's more to preserve the wood than provide actual structure for the track. Coasters whose layouts are fully topper tracked are no more wooden coasters than any Arrow Mine Train with separated steel rails mounted on wooden ledgers. I've read that some classic Six Flags wooden coasters (namely American Eagle and Colossus) have the wood track for their lift hills mounted on steel I-beams. If the whole layout were like that, would we consider them steel coasters? That seems no different an argument to me than the one that says topper track makes wooden coasters.3 points

Dorney Park typically opens the last weekend in April. And Welcome to KIC. Terp, who didn't say yes this time, someone has an idea. Oops.3 points

I wouldn't be too concerned with whether or not Ed is returning. His shows have been great the past two seasons, and if he doesn't return, I expect the park and CF will work hard to find a suitable replacement that's at least as good as, if not better than, what Ed has given us.3 points

When did we find out the show schedule last year? I'm anxious to find out if Ed Alonzo returns. His show is one of my favorite things about KI as of late. EDIT: Nevermind, reading the interview, it looks as though that show is gone. Ah, well. 'Twas fun while it lasted.3 points

It's far from quiet around the Banshee construction site. Not all the work being done is visible from the webcam. Don, I did not mean there was nothing going on. I am aware there is lots including station work and more. That post was just in the continued construction of track phase. So when the first half was built, the track lay all over the site and worked well to construct. Why now for the second half is there a staging area up the hill instead of where the track is being built? Columns are around where they'll be going up on the back half of the ride with track pieces are moving into that area just as they did with the first part.3 points

We took GatorGirl and her second cousin from Florida to EnterTrainment Junction the day after Thanksgiving. Being the enthusiast that she is, GatorGirl was enthralled with the Coney Island display. She turned to me and said, "I wish someone could just make us small so we can ride those rides!" I just had to say, "Me too." Kudos to the staff who put together and maintain this wonderful display, as well as all the other displays there!2 points

Except that doesn't answer the question. What is the nominal processing fee for 2014?2 points

^ I thought they did the actual construction of the ride. My bad. Nevermind!2 points

Here is a video from International Theme Park Services (its fourteen minutes long): And here is a video that Coney posted with historical footage from 1937-1956: And then there is this video (which is an hour and a half long) detailing the history of how Coney grew into Kings Island. It includes footage from Coney, and interviews from Gary Wachs, whose family owned Coney Island. I hope that helps. There used to be another video I think on Coney, but can`t seem to find it right now. Let me know if you have any questions about Coney Island. I have worked there for twelve years.2 points

Kings Island already has one of the greatest wooden roller coasters in the world with The Beast, and the longest wooden roller in the world is also The Beast. The Beast is celebrating its 35th anniversary season in 2014 and no other wooden roller coaster has beat it out yet for the spot of worlds longest wooden coaster. Kings Island has made sure that the record stayed in the park.......For 34 years and counting.2 points

I would hope all of em... It differentiates us from the civilians we protect. We're the 1% that gets the right to render that courtesy to the flag and the nation.. One thing I'm proud to say I can do...still get chills from time to time when I stand there at attention for it2 points

I wasn't aware that Banshee's trains would each be a different color......I thought they would just be numbered 1, 2, and 3. ....But I have to admit.......A blue train, green train, and purple train will look very nice with the already unique colors of Banshee.2 points

Would you rather us not take our jobs seriously? Depends on the scareactor. Some of my best, most memorable scares have been big guys! Unfortunately, a majority of the time when popping on a big guy, they don't react (and that's probably why some scareactors quickly stop popping on them). But when they do jump, it's great! Definite yes to this. The past three years I've had a great hiding spot from which I could pick my perfect victim. If someone looks freaked out, that's who I'm getting. If a scareactor touched him, it was more than likely by accident. It sometimes happens. I have a very strong suspicion that that will change come next year.2 points

Sparsely scattering a few gravestones under the ride and building a station that looks like a church doesn't make a ride well themed. Adding fog, tunnels, theatrical lights, and props make an immersive ride.2 points

In light of the recent topic about RMC, I am wondering what everyone else thinks about this debate. Do you believe that RMC's Topper Track and/or I-Box Track should be considered wooden roller coasters? More information on these track types can be found here: http://www.rockymtnconstruction.com/1 point

That green Intamin piece probably went further down south to somewhere like Carrowinds or more west to Worlds of Fun. I doubt it was going to Kings Dominion because they just got an Intamin.1 point
