I do not mind a little off topic banter but I agree the bickering and slams at people is annoying. I think with the way the seats sort of recline clearance will not be an issue but I am not in the know. I do wonder if there will be a height limit for tall people though.6 points

Sigh. I chuckle at the fact that whenever this thread goes astray with tired jokes and puns, no one seems to care... Yet once we finally strike a meaningful and constructive conversation about the matter at hand, it is quickly stiflled by bitter sarcasm and accusing people like devarious of being "know-it-alls" or assuming that they know nothing of what they are talking about (which couldn't be further from the truth).5 points

From KDs Facebook: On the 4th day of Christmas, #KD40 gave to me: A look at Ruby, the 40th Celebration custom painted Carousel horse. We’re getting our first drawing of what Ruby will look like once she’s completely restored and added back to the park’s historic Carousel in April. A local Richmond artist is restoring Ruby, which is part of a multi-year project to restore and repaint all of the horses on the Carousel. (Photo From KDs Facebook)5 points

Should someone tell KD that the 12 days of Christmas doesn't actually start for another week +??? Otherwise, I like the theme and what they've revealed so far. I'd love to see KI get a little nostalgia love spread across the park next season. Doubful KI gets anything "major" considering the size, scope and cost of Banshee, but a handful of small projects across the park could go a long way towards kindling "the best day of the summer"4 points
-
Oh the rampant off season speculation. Leave the coaster design and construction to experts.4 points
-
They're not anything fancy, but they do get the message across. I'm so excited for Kentucky Kingdom to open and Banshee at KI! Spring needs to hurry up!4 points

It's finally fixed now, after about 24 hours of downtime. The new certificate expires 12/15/14. Hopefully someone at Cedar Fair sets up nagios, which (when properly configured) would have warned them in advance of the expiration and complained very loudly as soon as it did expire.4 points

^ I just sat there for the longest time trying to figure out what ride IN stood for before realizing it was merely the word in.3 points

Latest Banshee construction time lapse shows them digging out large quantities of dirt underneath the low spots in the track. You can see how flush to the ground the pilings start out and see how exposed they end. Crisis averted.3 points

Isn't there some sort of out of state attendance figure that has to be met as well? If I didn't follow the industry like I do I wouldn't even have known KK was reopening (I live in Indy).3 points

I think the billboard looks just fine, but thats my opinion... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free3 points

You have to remember, this is a new park, with a limited budget. I find the sign just right for the public eye and for signage reasons. (If you have an issue with the ride, then you may need to tone down your expectations) (Welcome to KIC {Insert KIC slogan}) Look I get there are limited funds.....a quick fix would have been to a least put the park's proper logo on it. Besides Ed Hart is in the movie business, producing 12 movies in his career. I'd expect a little more from the billboard.3 points

......According to Kentucky Kingdom's Facebook page, construction on Lightning Run will begin in early January......3 points

And, if it's Cedar Fair (which I doubt it will be), the limited partnership will then have owned the park longer than any other entity.3 points

Anybody think of digging a ditch there? Simple fix for that would be to dig a gulley type ditch in the ground and boom, clearance issue resolved. But I tend to always listen to 'Terp...there won't be a clearance issue.3 points

I have yet to hear a news link or commercial in cincinnati or Dayton. We may be just a bit outside te market but during Flag days I remember seeing a bunch of commercials Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Yes, but Indiana is right across the river. I assume the park will have to ask for zip codes when selling tickets, not just season passes.2 points

IIRC, that was on a page that wasn't linked to from the website and was obviously a test page- didn't it say Dorney Park on the passes and mention ERT on Gatekeeper or something? I think I have screenshot of it somewhere.2 points

That's unfortunate, the experience in DA seems to be a lot better when it's not busy.2 points

Interesting. A. Admissions for the big lizards must be dropping somewhat. B. One wonders if KI will do this, too.2 points

Huh? IF there is a problem there, a trim brake is going to fix that how exactly? Terp, who likes to ask questions.2 points

If I were Kentucky Kingdom with its limited funds, the LAST thing I'd be doing is a teaser ad campaign. Call to action marketing instead: I'd have attractive volunteers passing out cards in malls, downtown and in guerilla marketing locations with Kentucky Kingdom's Back! Season Passes On Sale Now! And the URL. I have been totally unimpressed with their marketing decisions so far. Hopefully, the park is constructed, operated and maintained far better than it's been marketed so far. Best example: introducing the coaster at 11 PM at night on a Saturday, on social media only. Why? I suspect a VERY low budget for the announcement. Result? A nearly totally wasted major media opportunity. This thing could have been national news. As it was and is, even many roller coaster enthusiasts still haven't heard about it. Quite a few non-enthusiasts in my workplace have asked me about Banshee. Only one person--from Louisville, no less, has asked about Kentucky Kingdom--yesterday. His question? "Are they ever going to announce any new rides?" And this from a guy who keeps up with national affairs and things back in Louisville.2 points

Had current senior management been in place in 2012, the flavor of KI's 40th might well have been different. There's also that.1 point

Kings Dominion has now started a "12 Days of Christmas Surprises!" campaign, which will feature something new everyday, that they will be doing to the park in 2014..... On the first day of Christmas, Kings Dominion gave to me: The return of the iconic Floral Clock! (Photo Courtesy of Kings Dominion) "The Floral Clock will be completely rebuilt in its original location at the end of Center Street near the historic park Carousel."1 point

Even just closing the one open door would at least make it look like a thing that wasn't broken.1 point

It'd be one thing if the Festhaus clock had been quietly shut off and the animated figurines were hidden behind closed doors. But it's an embarrassment for the park that the thing hasn't worked since at least 2009, with one of the doors ajar with a little chef figurine stuck halfway inside, halfway outside.1 point
