  1. I simply love everything about KIC, it is kept up to date, not overflowing with ads, "problems" are addressed quickly, not very often is their a rage between 1 or more members, no viruses ! The reason I am making this thread because, I have been on many different types of discussion boards for many different things, and a lot of them are over ran with ads, members get put down quickly and by a lot of people (some even being mods/Admin's of the site!), some lurking in danger with viruses. Here on KIC, even if someone puts you down, their always seems to be one person who agrees with you! The admin's do a great job of keeping the site, clean, up to date and safe (knock on wood)! members will help you with a question especially Terpy and his famous line "Yes someone does." Thread's do tend to stray sometimes though, but other than that, this site is darn near perfect for people to voice their opinions and provide facts and what not! Here's 2 examples: A little while back, KIC had an issue with a new member and came on here saying the "N" word a lot and saying stuff like he/she is fat etc. and I think within an hour or two he was banned and not causing anymore issues. I myself back in 2009, got banned from this site because I was soooo, bull headed about the Son of Beast never getting torn down, that I got Terpy into a 2-3 page rant with me (at least I think that's the reason why..). These are the reason's this site is still going strong! And I thank all the members on here (that have been good, which is pretty much anyone that's a member) for help keeping this site going and help keep it clean/safe! I want to especially thank the admin's too! Dane most of all, cause he has been the one upgrading/ keeping this site "stable", fixing any issues the site has and making sure it is something that anyone can enjoy!

  2. Just a thought.... wouldn't it be really cool if this showed up in the circle in the middle of the Action Zone???

  5. Thank you. We've been doing this so long that sometimes it becomes robotic. It's things like this that remind us why we do what we do. Of course, KIC is great because of all of you... not because of the staff.

  20. When I saw the title I thought "since when does Delirium got its own music?" I realized the last time I actually rode Delirium, the singing cats were still on the QTVs doing the Chaka Khan throughout the park.

  21. I really would love to be on Banshee in the first hour. After that I just want to enjoy my first opening day take it all in and meet as many of my fellow KIC peeps as I can. The rest of the rides are a bonus on this day at least for me.

  22. It sounds like you will be on an island, living like a king. A "king's island," if you will. For me, it's a mandatory Beast excursion, followed by 6 rounds of the Sweet Science on Vortex [ding ding!], and then off to PotatoWorks.

  23. Not music, but the safety spiel should most DEFINITELY be recorded by Pat Carroll in the voice of Ursula. We would just change her name to Banshee. Obviously. Check this out!

  24. As for the next challenge, I believe Ouimet was speaking about what we know now as Banshee.

  25. From riding Beast's first ride, to riding Banshee in the first hour, everyone has a "must do" list for the opening day. So, as I begin to plan out what I need to do in the opening day, I thought it would be great for us to discuss what we are banking on during the day, possibly even to help out others unsure about what to do the day. What is your opening day must do list? 1. Banshee in the first hour of operation. 2. Ride FoF in the first 2 hours 3. Ride Beast twice 4. Ride Bat at least twice. 5. Take uber amounts of photos (Solo on photo taking, so I will be away from the group for a little while) 6. Take part in our "official un-official KIC meet up".

  31. This one would be great. It's got the Celtic theme and is a bit mysterious. "Dyfuna" by Terry Oldfield Terry Oldfield is the older brother of composer Mike Oldfield (of "Tubular Bells" fame) and younger brother of singer Sally Oldfield (who had a big hit with "Mirrors" in the UK in the late 70s). Like his siblings, much of Terry's music is of the new age / progressive rock style. The album this song is on came out in 1992.

  34. They have planned to add a "big" addition this year with Pipe Scream, and Lake Erie Eagles, ironically a huge addition to the eyes of Kings Island enthusiasts. (To some, it will probably be nick-named "Lake Erie Seagulls")

  35. Rumored? A five year plan is a tool businesses use to accomplish a list of goals. They are subject to change randomly. The coaster that became Intimidator had been on and off Carowinds' five year plan for more than five years. A master plan is a similar concept... Just because a ride ends up on either concept for removal, replace or installation doesnt mean it will or wont happen.

  37. I was looking back at some of my post and saw that i had posted "26 track pieces to go" on Jan 13th. It took them a mere 10 days to install 26 track pieces! Thats just over 1/4 of the entire ride in 10 days!!! Again, i can't congratulate these guys enough for their hard work and dedication!

  40. VP is due for a new woodie - not to replace, but as an addition. When? Those in charge (and maybe a few others) know, and I think some current attractions will be moved or removed to make room for this new massive thing - but not any coasters.

  46. I've ridden all the B&M flyers and Vekoma flyers in the US. I find B&Ms to be leaps and bounds above the Vekomas, but even within the B&Ms there are certain standouts. I find Vekoma Flying Dutchmen to be boring and often times painful. The restraints don't get along with well-endowed females. Of the three, Nighthawk has been consistently the worst. It seems to have been very poorly maintained, and it sounds (and feels!) like a rattling deathtrap. I rode it once for the credit, then again during Con 2012 for some reason. Last trip to Carowinds, I happily skipped it. As for B&M flyers, I was really, really looking forward to Tatsu last October because I adore B&M flyers and it had been really hyped up by everyone I'd heard talk about it. As a result, I ended up anticipointed (anyone remember our "KI Terms" thread years ago? Yeah, I definitely still use that one) because it wasn't leaps and bounds better than Superman. Sure, it was fun, but it just wasn't as amazing as I expected it to be. Among the 3 Supermans, I find SFOG's to be the best because the layout fits the terrain the best, so you end up with these awesome hand-chopper moments on some of the turns. And then ... there's Manta. I adore everything about Manta. The theming, the experience, the park it's in.... and no, I'm not biased because I just got hired to work on the crew, I have loved Manta since the first time I rode it last January. I was afraid of being anticipointed like Tatsu, but I definitely was not. I love it when rides interact with their surroundings, and Manta does a fantastic job of it. As for my overall opinion on flyers - I feel like the entire purpose is to feel like you're flying. The wide sweeping turns and in-line twists are what I feel like the coaster should be doing. I strongly dislike pretzel loops (I don't like intense positive Gs to start with) as it feels wrong for the type of coaster. I also do not like the loop and helix on the Vekomas. Overall, I'd say of the non-standard steel coaster types (flying, wing, inverted, stand-up, floorless, etc), flyers are definitely my favorite. Manta is my #3 steel coaster. Superman at SFOG was pretty high in my ranks for a long time as well. I haven't ridden a Zamperla ... but I doubt I will enjoy it. They look like they should be called "Pain: The Ride." And egads, those transitions. Did Arrow make a come back just for those?

  47. Okay upon Terps suggestion... I did a Google news for the coaster names here are the front page results: Lightning Run Coaster: 1 relative return. Same blog from above Banshee Coaster: 11 relative returns. Most talking about the final piece being installed. Reporting Cities: Cincy, Indy, USA Today (National), Dayton, Akron, an Italian coaster blog, a German Coaster blog. So I figured I must limit my search I Googled the coaster + park name, front page results: Lightning Run Kentucky Kingdom: 1 result, same blog site Banshee Kings Island: 10 results. Same as above.... So maybe I am being too tough with Google News. I was looking for media coverage of the parks. So lets try just Google. Front page results: Lightning Run Kentucky Kingdom: 11 Results (yay!). Newest date: Jan 3 :/ Results defined: 2 POVs from Nov. 5 results from Forums/blogs. 1 Wikipedia result, Images of KK, 1 return from KK website. Banshee Kings Island: 11 results: Newest date Jan 23. results defined: 1 POV, 1 KI return, 1 Wikipedia return, 2 News articles about coaster completion....... I give up. I tried. I showed data. Did some quick research. Data shows what the park is or is not doing (generating buzz).

  48. Try the names of each park's new coaster. I'm sure you are being too hard on the new Kentucky Kingdom. I bet they made a big splash in Allentown today. Major parks from all across the country go. Media often run human interest stories they got from the American Coaster Enthusiasts' East Coaster, sometimes many months later. Same thing with the Chicago version, No Coaster. Surely this new park was represented. Were I the PR rep, I'd have gotten there if I paid for it myself.
