Tomb Raider: The Ride! Never got a chance to ride it. Sounded amazing tho. It would have been awesome if I could have gotten to get just one ride on it.4 points

I would say that Les Taxis would be a cool ride to return. Not high thrill, but nostalgic. Personally, I think BLSC should have been placed elsewhere and Les Taxis left because it was such a nice, scenic section of the park.4 points

My family just got back from a trip to Dollywood! We bought season passes last November and wow, was that a great idea. My sister, Emily, was 47" last time and couldn't ride any of the bigger rides. Now, she's 48" and she got the yellow wristband! Which meant she could ride Thunderhead, Mystery Mine, Tennessee Tornado, and Barnstormer. She's quite a daredevil and went right on Thunderhead without any hesitation. She absolutely loved it. As did I. It's still my favorite wooden roller coaster. You get some insane airtime on it. To those who don't like The Voyage due to it being rough, try out Thunderhead sometime. It's much smoother. Mystery Mine is in my opinion one of the most underrated roller coasters. The second drop always catches me off guard. I love the theme, the music, the effects, and most of all, the ride itself. It may be short but I still think it's amazing. Emily started crying when she realized the lift hill goes straight up but by the first drop she loved it. It's now our thing to sing the song ("if you whistle in the Mystery Mine..") everyday. I still think Wild Eagle is overrated. It doesn't thrill me at all. It's a nice peaceful ride. That's it. It's way too short and doesn't really excite me. Rides like Thunderhead, where you feel totally out of control, are much better. Gatekeeper > Wild Eagle though wing coasters to me aren't that fun. Tennessee Tornado is your standard looping roller coaster but much smoother than Vortex. Barnstormer is a fun little ride but even Emily was somewhat disappointed by the length of the cycle. Firechaser Express is an amazing family ride. Something like this needs to be in every amusement park. We left around 3pm on Thursday. Friday, we planned to go to a silly Pigeon Forge attraction indoors since the forecast predicted storms all day, but the weather ended up being perfect so we went back to Dollywood. And absolutely nobody was there. We waited 0 minutes for Thunderhead, 0 minutes for Mystery Mine, and 0 minutes for basically everything else. Most of the day we spent looking in the quaint stores, buying candles, and watching the Festival of Nations shows. Dollywood is a great amusement park. I am probably forgetting some things so I'll add them if I remember. I also have some good picture so I'll post them soon!3 points

If this is your only trip, and you want to experience rides like Banshee and The Beast at night, you may want to pick a date when the park closes at 10:00pm.3 points
-
You forgot Mud Season. Terp, contemplating a move to Maine some day. For realz. He already owns The State Car.3 points
-
Or you drive a Lamborghini... Illegally... via roads that can't possibly exist in Ohio... I just want to take this time to say how glad I am not to live in Maine anymore! My weather app is calling for a high of 46°... two seasons there: Winter and Mosquito (Kidding. Maine's a beautiful state. Even has a couple of amusement parks!).3 points

Most forecasts are based on the same weather models used by (and largely funded by) the National Weather Service.3 points

Skyride also, I never did get a chance to ride it. My first time to KI was in 1988. But there is a lot of older rides I wish they would bring back.3 points
-
Wow, this is a tough one. I wish I had the chance to ride Son of Beast (with loop) and King Cobra I also really miss Phantom Theater. I can't pick between those three.3 points
-
I remember King Cobra vaguely when I was little, but I wasnt tall enough to ride. I've seen many videos of it, and overall it looked like a great coaster. Also I have only rode Tomb Raider, but after it was changed to the Crypt I never rode it, was there much changed to it after Tomb Raider theme was removed?3 points
-
Agreed, The Beast is definitly the best coaster in the park at night. When I took my best friend to Kings Island for the first time last October, he absolutley loved it, front seat, I highly recommend it.3 points
-
Wow, he was part of the book and record I had about the ride when I was little. Pretty cool! Edit: so you can experience it too Hatbox starts around 4:253 points

If you had the power to bring back ONE ride from Kings Island years past, which ride would you bring back? The years in ( ) are the years when the ride listed was operational at Kings Island **I have opted out of using ride from previous years that were in Nickelodeon Land / Hanna-Barbera Land (another poll for another time). In the poll, I have listed Son of Beast with the loop and without the loop as two options becasue I rode it both ways and felt that it changed the ride experience. Also, I have listed Tomb Raider and The Crypt seperatly becasuse the difference in the two ride experience was very different. My choice would have to be King Cobra and I know some maybe curious why I chose that one - Because I never rode it (granted I didn't ride alot of these) but that one intreges me the most becuase my dad has talked about riding it several times and that has always peaked my interest to have the experence. My second choice would be Phantom Theater, because Boo Blaster is lack luster and needs some love. I am curious to see how everyone feels, so VOTE!! (And let me know if I missed any that was you want back.)2 points

If not for finding myself with a group of girls who wanted to ride coasters the summer I turned 13, and not wanting to be left out, I most likely would not have ever become a coaster enthusiast. Before that trip, I had only ever had one terrifying ride on The Beastie (no lie). After riding all the coasters at Cedar Point (I think there were nine at that time) I was hooked. So the default assumption can sometimes come to good. I prefer going to the park alone most of the time now too, tho.2 points

When my High School had a Kings Island day, there were groups who had to do the packets together, but once those were done, we were free to go our own ways until we had to meet back together to catch the bus. The de facto "everyone has to agree" rule when going to amusement parks with groups is why I usually go alone. Because I don't want to ride Diamondback over and over, and they probably don't want to ride Vortex over and over.2 points

It all makes sense now. I wondered why I didn't see the Hatbox Ghost when I visited DW the only time ever in '92. ^^Had that record as a kid, plus the better full length album with Ron Howard.2 points

Well..... ....I suppose you're right..... I'm not sure why I didn't think about that considering I'll be in attendance at the park for preview night on Friday.......2 points

The original lasted only a few months. The figure stood by the bride in the Mansion's attic. Each time the bride's heart would beat, the ghost's head would disappear from his shoulders and re-appear in the hatbox he was holding. It was all a lighting trick, of course. A positioned black-light would make one head glow while the other went dark. Supposedly even on the night of the cast member previews it was obvious that the effect didn't work - the regular ole ambient light from the scene allowed guests to see both heads. With today's projection technology, I'm sure this will be spectacular. The Hatbox Ghost has been legendary for many Disneyland fans as a rare failed effect, and one that built a strong story for the ride and an urban legend for fans to follow. Plus, he's actually pretty scary looking.2 points

Last night I had an extended dream where I was trying to get ready for season pass preview night, but things kept getting in the way. Eventually, it was 7:30 and I wasn't showered or dressed and wouldn't get to the park until 8 even if I left right then, so I gave up. The dream went on to Saturday morning and I was still encountering obstacles from getting to the park for Opening Day. Finally, I woke up to the point I realized what day it actually was and that opening was still a week away, and that was the hardest blow of all.2 points

Cedar Point doesn't have gold passes and "free" parking doesn't come with passes lower than Platinum there.... I certainly would NOT say a very large percentage of Cedar Point Platinum passholders are so-called enthusiasts. Two percent? Maybe. And I find MOST of the public better behaved than many enthusiasts. Sadly.2 points

May 3, Greene County, Kentucky, will have its Post Prom at Kentucky Kingdom. Four school busses will be used for the 80 mile each way trip. http://www.gcdailyworld.com/story/2183917.html2 points

I'd vote for Tumble Bug if it were on the list. Bayern Kurve too.2 points

From what I remember (other member feel free to add to my experience or correct me if I'm wrong) the original Tomb Raider: the Ride had this big intro and short film also you couldn't see the ride from the room with the short film and when it was tomb raider the ride did many flips and spins and had a plot - a story - I myself felt like through the ride I was moving to different part in different rooms even though the ride what just going up down and around However the Crypt took away the intro/short film it took away the secrecy (you could see the ride operate while waiting) and it did much less movement (flips/spin) than it did when it was Tomb Raider. It was a great ride as Tomb Raider but as the Crypt it became lackluster and it lost its touch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

There is a Woodstock Image found here: http://mscourtsieannb.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-week-in-review.html I heard rumbling at some point that the costume is only used on occasion, not in the normal character rotation, as the size of the costume is smaller than the others, so they have to have a short character/entertainment associate available to have it out and it doesn't have the best ventilation system. I have also wondered where Franklin has been....only have seen him a few times.2 points

Oddly, Kentucky Kingdom WAS in the company of Magic Mountain. Literally. Mr. Hart speaks of this era as if it were a long nightmare. And now, his minion/lackey/contractor boasts about being in that company. My head hurts.2 points

I can't get over the fact that they had a screen capture of a webpage printed on laminate rather than simply displaying the web page on screen. The camera then zooms in on the printed page to reveal how pixelated it is while the gentleman holding it moves it. 10 parks to visit in 2015... "We're in some great company..." the company of "Magic Mountains out in California, and so forth."2 points

You guys should probably wait until the Wednesday before opening day to start guessing the weather.2 points
