Have you been to the new Sweet Spot? The newly renovated area looks amazing. You can watch the guys and gals making delicious confections through out the day. One of the brand new products brought to you by the fine folks at the Sweet Spot are bite sized iced sugar cookies. $3.99 for a bag of 8 ultra soft, delicious cookies. (Prices are subject to change).10 points

The place looks great with waaaaaay to many temptations. Last time in they kept trying to force feed me fudge samples. Lol....I don't need no samples to know it's delicious.9 points

It would be so epic to go back in time to see this. I am jealous of anybody who saw this in person.5 points

I'm addicted to the maple bacon taffy from the pick-a-mix wall. You can get six pieces for right around $1. And if you're like me, walk around for a few minutes eating them until they're gone I got more in a bag before I left the park, hopefully I can make them last the week.5 points

I rode Woodstock Gliders multiple times during ERT. I wasn't a regular park-goer until 4ish years ago so I never really knew about the old Flying Eagles. I didn't really know what I was doing but I 'think' I was doing something to the effect of making the plane go really high then really low to the concrete below. Snaps? No. But hey, it was still fun.5 points

ACE shared the following link on Facebook. At the risk of spoiling your experience in reading it, I'm not going to describe it beforehand. Don't go any further in this post than the link until you've read it. http://jaymitlo.com/an-open-letter-to-kennywood/ This article is so touching, and it's such a strong reminder that life is fleeting. For me, it also perfectly outlines why I love the amusement industry so much. Because if you get past dining plans and downtime and revenues, the amusement industry exists to create lifelong memories and escapes from daily life. I hope you enjoyed it. Now go hug a loved one.4 points

A wonderful read. Amusement parks are where a lot of good times and good memories are created. Perhaps a small sample of heaven here on earth. Every time I descend into the helix on The Beast I am reminded of my then 15 year old brother drilling me in the temple with his elbow. I saw stars. It left a bruise. He's been gone 12 years now and what I wouldn't give to see those stars again.4 points

If you were up here today, you would see for sure that ridership on Adventure Express is nowhere near excessively low. Line is out to the entrance. I am.3 points

Based off the article posted in this thread, it sounds like Amusement Dark is basically the initiative to expand the dark ride portfolio in all of the Cedar Fair parks.3 points

Yes, yes and yes. Don't even get me started on the funnel cake creations I've concocted. I fear no coasters at KI but the sweets are a different story3 points
-
Have you tried the Funnel Cake fudge or the Jelly Donut fudge? Both are delicious. I've not tried the Red Velvet this year, but it looks delicious.3 points
-
Yeah, the food department did have some improvements from opening day, but not by much. I'd give them a C- at this point.3 points

For those dining at the Reds Grille with the meal plan, note that the meal redemption time is apparently set at the end of the meal when the check is paid. ohiocolts found this out last night when his second meal at LaRosa's didn't work; the 4-hour counter seemed to have started after the 25-minute delay we had to split the check, even though our season passes were scanned at the beginning of our meal. There were about 10 other abandoned pizza plates waiting to be thrown away from other customers who had the same problem. (If you're going there with a group, and anyone in the group is using a dining plan, I suggest bringing cash to avoid having to split the check.)3 points

It's never too much to greet everyone you meet with with kind words and smile no matter the mood. You just never know the impression you could leave on somebody. Never take anything for granted as life changes so fast.3 points

It also still appeared as the sole "closed" ride listed on the red LED scrolling signs outside the entrance today.3 points

Huh...that station is the same number and same ABC affiliation as another certain Cincinnati TV station I know... Coincidence?2 points

I'm trying to figure something out from this picture: Is the closest looking "family trickster" on Kings Island Drive? Or are the cars further in the distance?2 points

Hid those forums in Tapatalk, and Steph88 PM me what you want your password to be and I can change it for you so you know what it is.2 points

Food prepared but not sold increases food cost and is waste. (One hopes and prays those abandoned plates were NOT salvaged and sold!) The whole meal plan concept seems to have pushed the full freight single meal at a time paying customer into afterthought status. Pardon me, but that is beyond stupid.2 points

I went on opening day and loved it. Ended up buying a caramel apple (which they'll slice for you), and salted caramel dark chocolate fudge. Very delicious, I imagine I'll be back a few times over the course of the season.2 points

I guess we found the answer to the Amusement Dark question? And indeed, at the bottom of the ride's page...2 points

From what I've heard, until gold goes away for the season, there's no price difference between adult and junior passes.2 points

I could ride almost anything but was afraid to TTD because of the height. Finally rode it last year and the scariest part was the launch. You are only up on the peak for such a brief time. You get a tiny pop of air at the top then down you go. It was really nothing after all to me. In fact I was in the pullout so quickly that it didnt take my stomach or breath at all.2 points

Like I said a friend of mine had one opening day. It was purchased at one of the food stands. So who knows.2 points

Thank you for posting that TombRaiderFTW! It is a good reminder that we have the opportunity to make a positive moment in someone's day. It can be as simple a smile or just taking a moment to give someone your total focus and attention. It's big. Without getting too personal, I read this - http://sparkspace.com/whenyouredead/ and it hit me hard. Our lives are never as long as we want. We have say about our interactions with others and can leave happy memories behind...even with strangers. I'm glad that this family has these memories as that is what will help pull them through the hardest moments.2 points

I've been here since 4 and we've road every coaster but The Bat and Invertigo , of course. I think the longest we waited was 25 minutes for FOF, most were walk ons for us. I was surprised at how short lines are with how full the parking lot is.2 points

They ran an empty train at 4:50ish today. I wasn't in the area long enough to see how many more trains ran.2 points

A simple "Like" isn't enough here. Thank you to Kennywood on behalf of this family, and thank you to all employees who go out of their way to make a customer's day better. I have always said that whatever job I end up after school, as long as I can make people smile, that is what I want to do. Things like this are the reason why.2 points

Wow! I just read that and it was an amazing read. Definitely brought a tear to my eye! Thanks for sharing!2 points

The park is starting to look great again. The new TopSpin ride is installed and looking sharp. Several rides have received paint jobs, including the Turtle Parade and Racing Rockets. The rides will be open next weekend as part of the Appalachian Festival. Official opening day is on Saturday, May 23.2 points

10:45 Firehawk and FoF both at least 5 minutes. Everything else I've passed is a walk on. I love when people are in school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

1) Forecasts this far out are almost entirely useless. They're liable to change numerous times between now and then. I wouldn't decided based on weather until a day or two before at most. 2) It depends on how much rain. With a light rain, some rides may keep running. Heavy rain and it'll shut everything down. As for reopening, that really depends on radar. If it looks like it'll pour again soon, or there is any lightning in the forecast, then rides will stay down. Otherwise, once those conditions have cleared, they'll send out some test runs and get the ride open as soon as possible. If the rain is just intermittent throughout the day, it could draw crowds away for when it clears, making lines shorter. Some of the best days in a park are these hidden gems. On the flip side, if the rain is never-ending, you won't get many rides in.2 points

^That same station, recently, sent out their helicopter to cover a covered bridge re-opening in a segment which lasted all of 15 seconds and sicked it on the UC band's band camp during the whole OSU band debacle, among other asinine things. I'm not even kidding.2 points

Rather, ONE particular television station did. Again and again.2 points

When I boarded it with my daughter, her score hadn't been reset and so she started with 1320, finishing with an impressive 3960.2 points

They also had the audio from the former fog screen playing for the first time in a LONG time (that I've experienced, anyway), but the video screen set in the tombstone towards the beginning of the ride was shut off. The two skeletons in the bed weren't functioning, but their audio was. And there was a maintenance light turned on under the track throughout a good portion of the ride that was very noticeable in the loading area. I honestly can't tell if the park's done with the ride or isn't willing to put the money into keeping the presentation of the ride as good as it could be or just forgets to turn everything on at once. Or all three?2 points
