  1. My vote is Top Thrill 2 and here's my reasonings. 1. Son of Beast at the end of the day ran from 2000-2009. 10 seasons. 2. 2006 when the loop was causing problems, they removed it and the ride was back up and running again 3. Top Thrill 2 is a reimagining of Top Thrill Dragster that was only open for what? 6 days? I got to ride TT2 twice with my wife, but most of us haven't gotten a chance to ride. 4. If TT2 was never to reopen and became a complete fail, then that means they wasted tons of money and others hopes and dreams to ride it and built the hype for this new attraction for nothing...

  2. Don, My vote is for Son of Beast. I am still hoping they figure out how to make Top Thrill 2 a reliable thrill machine. I loved Top Thrill's speed, so it would be amazing for them to figure it out. Son of Beast was doomed from the beginning. I so wanted to love that ride and was genuinely excited about it. But then I rode it. That's all that needs to be said...ha!

  3. If the issues plaguing Top Thrill 2 cannot be resolved, what goes down as the bigger failure: Son of Beast or Top Thrill 2?

  4. If it doesn't reopen, Top Thrill 2 easily. Say what you want about Son of Beast, but at least that was open for more than a week. I'm at least hopeful Cedar Point and Zamperla can get Top Thrill 2 fixed for 2025, so it's smooth sailing from there, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

  6. Holiday World's water park is arguably the best in the amusement and theme park industry. Each of the three water coasters are fantastic! The restaurants in Splashin' Safari are also excellent. Some of the best pulled pork and brisket sandwiches that I've ever had can be found there. Kings Island's water park is average at best by comparison.

  7. The Shrimp Sandwich was one of my favorite dining options this summer. It's amazing how good the food really is at Kings Island, and how few people talk about it.

  8. As bad as the TTD incident was, Son of Beast had way more of them (not just limited to the 2006 and 2009 incidents), so its SOB being worst by a mile. TTD had a far better safety record. RCCA were complete frauds in my book. I actually respect Intamin and Zamperla. They've done good work aside from TT2. All of RCCA's coasters are/were garbage. I should also correct something- the loop on SOB wasn't the problem. The 2006 incident happened in the first helix and part of it was lighter trains that made the track flex less, but the lighter Gerstlauer trains that replaced the heavier Premier trains weren't approved to do loops and probably couldn't due to the lack of weight.

  9. I had the same experience with French Corner closed often during the week. But the bars around the park were usually open so hopefully because they added a bar it opens daily moving forward.

  10. I am hoping since they remodeled and added the bar that they will be open more often moving forward. There were countless times we went over the summer that they weren’t open.

  13. Permits for a renovation to the bathroom were filed. It will hopefully be nice those bathrooms really need some tcl they are so rough. Also looking at the blueprints on the Mason permitting site it appears that the Soak City subway will be turned into a blue ice cream stand.

  15. I think I liked it as much as the Shrimp Sandwich from The French Corner, and that says something. That Shrimp Sandwich has been my #1 food item of the season. I would like to see them keep the Meatwich around at the French Corner, maybe as a French Dip.

  17. As a lover of all things Halloween and Haunt — and as someone who’s been going since I was about 8 — I’ve witnessed the vast range of KI’s Halloween events. I love love love Haunt! That being said, I think it could use some new ideas. Following is a project I’ve put together over the past month. I tried to keep the park full of nighttime activities with inspiration from KI Halloween offerings over the past 24 years. A brief explainer: Fright Zones (3) are areas of the park in which monsters simply roam. Scare Zones (6) are where the true nature of HAUNT can come alive. Here, monsters will actively prowl and scare anyone who crosses their paths. There are (7) Sinister Shows spread throughout the three Fright Zones, two of which are Opening and Closing shows. Lastly, there are (10) Haunted Mazes spread throughout the Scare Zones, split between five Outdoor Mazes and five Indoor Mazes. All of this should be visible on the map (though you may need to zoom in a little). Anything placed between quotation marks currently exists as a Halloween Haunt attraction at Kings Island. While some of these have counterparts at other legacy Cedar Fair parks, I tried not to copy those when creating this project. The base map is composed of screenshots from the Kings Island mobile app. Most of this was written before the awesome start to the 2024 Haunt season, so if you like something from 2024, put in a reply below! Fright Zones (1) “International Street FEAR” “Step right up to see the strange and mysterious creatures that stalk the shadows and lurk around every corner of International Street. Legend says that these doomed souls are condemned to haunt International Street for the rest of eternity.” Located on International Street. (2) “Pumpkin Eater” “The notorious Pumpkin Eater is on the prowl, hidden within the dark confines of the haunted town he once terrorized. Beware the demons who roam the winding serpentine road. They were townsfolk once, just like you.” Located on the path between the park entrance and Adventure Port. (3) Grimm Place Enter a world of dark myths and stories of old! Hear the fables from their authors and try to remind yourself that none of this is real, right? Located in Action Zone. Scare Zones As with up at Cedar Point, this revitalized Halloween Haunt could utilize gantry structures to alert guests when they are entering the Scare Zone area. (4) Port of Chaos A bustling port community once besieged by pirates in search of the fabled King's Gold. Ancient myths tell of wonders galore, but the locals know what creatures lurk beneath the waves. Dead men tell no tales, so BEWARE! Men and women, 66 in total, entered the lumber company and were never to be seen again… at least not in the way they used to be. Stepping into Rivertown, outsiders find themselves immersed in a small abandoned lumber village that’s haunted by something mysterious. The forest is overrun by supernatural creatures that have riddled their confines with darkness and despair. Are these the lumber yard workers from days past? And, which of them are evil?” Located in Rivertown Haunted Mazes (1) Circles: Field Report The farmers just outside town have been reporting crop circles and missing animals to the local news, and now crowds are gathering in the fields to witness the next event! Rumor has it the aliens have something else in mind… Don’t get lost in the fields or else you might just end up like the unlucky travelers from the aliens last encounter. Pescador has returned to its port of call, but where is her crew? Trod warily through the docks and try to discover the clues of what those sailors were searching for on their forbidden voyage. Tales of Spanish sirenas have long haunted these waters, so heed this warning: there are things far more frightening than a drunken buccaneer! Theme: Guests are visited by some of Halloween Haunt's favorite spooks. (4) Buried Blood The eerie Rubied Estate is a scary place to be at night. Watch your step as you venture through the house and discover the truth behind the feud that spilled blood on this hallowed ground. Information: Located on a platform built for this maze. Information: Located in the Action Theater. Theme: Cryptid werewolves attack a hotel in the swamp. NOTE: A Rougarou is a werewolf-like cryptid that prowls the swamps of southern Louisiana. 18. After visiting Holiday World for two days recently again, I get reminded how much our KI waterpark needs some love. Surfin' Safari is just awesome on every level. Wildebeast and Mammoth alone are worth the trip. Although, I realized I am not as young as I used to be climbing those stairs to some of the slides. And going absolutely airborne on Jungle Racers. That was a bit painful. On the other side, Voyage is still my all-time favorite coaster, next to Fury and The Beast. It's nice to see the new additions for next year at KI. I agree more trees are needed too...it gets so hot and crowded out there. It'd be nice if you could wear your water shoes on the rides at KI too like HW does.

  19. What concerns me is that the monsters/octopus type rides are becoming more and more rare. The original manufacturer is no longer in business the business who took up for them afterwards apparently was acquired. I'm kind of concerned that as these rides continue to age, the parts will start becoming scarce.

  20. So maybe this question has been asked elsewhere and if so please feel free to direct me accordingly but I've heard reports that Dorney Park's monster ride has been missing this season... anyone have any information on that. According to what I heard the ride disappeared from the park and the website this season and the pad was used for a seating area. Anyone know if it's in storage or if they scrapped it? Is it coming back? It was an absolutely beautiful flat
