  1. Link to Concept Video Posting this on this thread because the minute I heard “Family Thrill Attraction” my delusional mind immediately went to a Phantom Theater reboot. I made a mock-up video for a PT based Intamin Dynamic Motion Stage that could be the rumored replacement for the Tomb Raider/Crypt building. I chose this ride system based on the success of the Danse Macabre ride at Efteling (Which I also used for the video since I didn’t feel like attempting to animate something). I imagine the queue of the ride basically being the scenes of the dark ride: The first hallways can be the Portrait hallway/generic theater lobby, the previous first preshow room can be a prop room line section, and guests could first enter a preshow featuring Maestro on the organ explaining the history of the theater. The main ride area would be formatted like the pepper’s ghost theater scene, with the underneath of the turntable that dips into the floor being themed to the Boiler Room.

  2. Respectfully, this is a bit rude. Trust me, I completely understand your passion for the things you'd rather see in The Crypt's building, but it's really not necessary to shoot down anything anyone else wants. The park doesn't make capex decisions based on opinions on KIC.

  3. Although, why would the park survey on multiple thrill coasters if they’re only interested in adding family additions. The park is listening to what guests want and I think eventually the demand will be there for another thrill coaster. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  4. Great! I had the exact same experience. That doesn't make it necessary OR okay to put down other people.

  5. I mean, an indoor family attraction can be a great addition if something like Fire in the Hole is anything to go by. It would be a better use for that building than what it's currently being used for.

  6. If they are not going to use the building for public activity besides a Haunt, they need to either remove it or modify it so it's not such an eyesore. I'd love a Verbolten style coaster in this area using the building. It definitely would be a family thrill, but appeal to other demographics as well. Of course, they could remove it and replace it with Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal v2.0 on steroids and I'd be great with that as well!

  7. It's sad when the former PR guy conveys more information than the current PR people do. Last winter I found out about the Kings Island show auditions from Theme Parks by Don and told my sister and her boyfriend who are music majors about it and my sister told me she couldn't find anything from Kings Island about having auditions. I told her to trust me that I had a source better than the Kings Island communications and about a week before the audition was scheduled was when the actual PR made an announcement. My sister said that a lot of people they go to college with said they would have auditioned but were unaware about the date and time or didn't feel they had enough time to prepare. All I'm saying is that I don't even bother reading the KI blog articles or reading their press releases anymore because I'm not going to get any information I'm interested in or want to know anyway. Tower Topics and KIC have been much better sources of information since the public relations changed at KI

  8. IF I were to ever buy a other pass, it would be an HW/SS pass for this very reason even as I wish Pat were still there, they do it better and always have. If HW were to ever add a version of FastLane, even if only valid for the 4 coasters, Id buy in a Heartbeat.

  9. "Family additions" by themselves are fine. But when the majority of recent additions are "family additions", I agree with @Orion742 it is really getting stale. I personally believe we are now at the point where KI has/has added "family additions" to the point where the park is oversaturated with them. A lot of people I've talked to really would love to see a new high thrill coaster come to KI. The guest demand is there. Not just from coaster enthusiasts, but also from the GP.

  10. Holiday World may be smaller on scale than Kings Island, but Holiday World has a number of things that are better than Kings Island, including water park. The value I received as a 2024 Holiday World passholder was superior to the value I received as a 2024 Kings Island passholder. I live three hours from Holiday World; 22 minutes from Kings Island.

  11. Kings Island's primarily role in the chain right now is to be a cash cow for the local family demographic, who is the demographic most likely to spend the most money at the park. The park knows it can get away with not installing major new additions because the local demographic will renew their season passes regardless as there's not much competition within the immediate area. Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World are somewhat close by, but if you're a KI local, you're looking anywhere between 1.5 hours and 3 hours to get to those parks and neither of them are nearly to the same scale as Kings Island. Cedar Point's role will always be to be "the roller coaster capital of the world", building up an elite collection of coasters and rides to attract people from around the world, and that includes Kings Island's local demographic. Cedar Fair/Six Flags wants to keep the elite record-breaking coasters exclusive to Cedar Point so passholders of Kings Island who want to experience that stuff will need to travel north to do so. (and gives them more incentive to buy the all-park passport which is also very important) I do think there will come a time when Kings Island will add a new thrill coaster to the park. Likewise, I think there will come a time when Cedar Point will add a new family attraction similar to how they just added Wild Mouse. Just because these parks focus on different demographics doesn't mean they will exclusively add attractions to cater to those different demographics. With the families being the main priority for Kings Island right now, it may be some time before we see that thrill coaster come. In addition, don't expect the coaster to be an elite coaster that outdoes something at Cedar Point.

  13. At this rate I almost wish Siren's Curse went to KI. At least it would be unique to the park and would add a new thrill coaster to the line-up with inversions. I don't mean to sound ungrateful as any attraction is appreciated to have. And the small to medium details they've been adding has been nice to see to fill out the rough edges of the park. But darn it, it's our time to get something thrilling and unique. Something that really screams in the faces of both the GP and the enthusiast that "KI IS BACK BABY!" I just fear those days might be behind us and have been for awhile.

  14. Since they have UFO theming in the Orion/Flight of Fear section of the park A UFO themed Dark Ride could be fun, or like a throwback to the Dark Ride that started it all in Coney Island a trip to the moon. Only make it have UFO's and call it A trip to Mars or something to modernize the concept.

  15. That's an addition that sure sounds friendly to the park's wallet!

  16. This news is absolutely beyond frustrating. Orion is largely viewed as a let-down. Pretty much everything since then has been utterly weak from a thrill-seeker standpoint. Next year is a water coaster, and not even a good looking one if we're being honest. Now, 2026, the sixth year AFTER Orion, it sure sounds like a family-friendly flat ride. Really!?!? I've tried to stay positive about this merger, but if this is true, I'm giving my passes a break after having them for 20+ years.

  17. Because it's Mike Koontz and every single ride they build is marketed as a family attraction
