Camp Snoopy Construction Updates
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
According to this article, it was said construction would begin this fall. https://attractionsmagazine.com/expanded-camp-snoopy-at-kings-island-includes-new-kids-roller-coaster/ Adventure Port began construction mid October. However, that was an October announcement and last minute addition. Maybe they're waiting to get Haunt started to begin construction? I'm also wondering if they could still do the nativity thing during Winterfest in the old theater area where beagle scout acres is going. All they would need to do is block off the left side of it for construction of Soapbox Racers and then once WF is finished, start construction of Beagle Scout Acres. Does anyone know how technically how long a family boomerang takes to construct? With it being a cloned layout and not that large of a ride, I would think they could get it put up within a few months. -
Soak City Upgrades & Possible Expansion 2025
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to WoodVengeance's topic in Kings Island
KD did something similar in 2021 (was supposed to open in 2020) with their Soak City expansion where it was a new section called Coconut Shores that featured a fusion fortress, a kids wave pool, and the beach street food truck area. Maybe KI could do something similar? I personally would love to see us get a larger water playground like one of those fusion fortress complexes that have some thrilling slides along with kids slides along with more than one bucket. Unfortunately I feel like we would lose Breakers Bay for it as I believe KD's replaced their smaller wave pool. I think the beach street would go where Pipeline was extending onto the midway near Mondo Monsoon. -
Overhauling Backlot Stunt Coaster?
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Rumors
I don't really think our Backlot Stunt Coaster needs much of a retheme. I think the high speed car theme fits with what I think a retheme of that back section of Coney Mall could be themed to. Give it a "Route 66" style theme. Call it "Route 72" like Valleyfair did with Route 76 and just give Backlot new theming signage with Cincinnati references instead of Los Angeles. Basically instead of riding through a Backlot in Los Angeles, you are riding through Cincinnati. Vortex's replacement can still be themed to a "Vortex" or storm type theme, but have the storyline be along the lines of it's the 1950s and a major storm rips through Route 72 and you board your 1950s style hot rod to ride out the storm similar to how the Mystic Timbers storyline was set in the 80s. -
2023 General Kings Island Discussion
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
Glad you guys finally noticed it was getting a touch of paint. It started last week with small sections being painted, but now it's finally coming together! I worked at Drop Tower tonight so I couldn't see the new paint update, but these pics really look great. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow evening. -
KI Questions that keep you up at night
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
Wasn't RCCA the one who pitched the idea to build a wooden hyper coaster to PKI? -
If they really want my interest when it comes to events/advertising...partner with ASA entertainment again and bring this event back to the park! Anyone remember this? Also was one of the few times outside of Spirit Song Cedar Fair used Timberwolf.

2023 General Kings Island Discussion
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
But here's the thing, you also need people to staff food/drink stands as well as other areas. KI is more than just the rides. Also don't forget those who work need a break every 6 hours (5 hours if you're a minor). While yes you can technically staff some rides at like 5 people, that's at bare minimum and they need more to be able to send breaks and rotate positions. Also the gold tags/area supervisors need to be available as much as possible in the event things happen (like if a safety issue were to happen and the operators involved were to need to be disciplined for it, there needs to be extra staff available to come and take the involved operators' spots so that the ride can continue to operate while the involved operator(s) get disciplined/retrained). -
Since no thread has been created yet, I decided to make a thread specifically for construction updates on Camp Snoopy. As the summer season starts to come to a close and Haunt and Winterfest quickly approaches, we will likely start seeing construction start soon. As we follow construction, I just want to remind everyone of a few ground rules from past construction update threads: * No trespassing. I know this may seem like a common sense rule, but those who have been around on here for awhile may remember that during the construction of Banshee someone snuck into the construction area to get photos. Suffice it to say that the park was not happy, do not do it again! * Along those same lines, make sure any photos taken are from appropriate areas. Absolutely no taking photos from rides unless it is from the Eiffel Tower. * If you share a photo that isn't yours, you must provide the source where it came from. * Make sure that conversations are done in a polite manner. Every once in a while we'll see some debates that get out of hand. Please let's try to not have that this time. * During construction/decoding seasons KIC gets a lot of new visitors posting on here so it is important that everyone knows the terms of service. You can find the terms of service here: https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4128-terms-of-service/ * The final rule is have fun. Construction season is always an exciting time here on KIC. Here's to another season of construction as we see the construction of Snoopy's Soap Box Racers family boomerang coaster and the refreshed Camp Snoopy! Let's start with photos of I took of the area pre construction that we can compare to the finished product as a before and after when it is done!

Cedar Fair and Vekoma
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If I were to pick a Vekoma model for KI, I would go with the bermuda blitz model in the style of Lech Coaster at Legendia. I have heard nothing but good things about Lech Coaster and people who have been on it have raved about how intense it is. I think if KI got a ride in the style of Lech coaster it would become that new shining star attraction to enthusiasts. Here's a POV of Lech Coaster: Another good option is the double launch shockwave model in the style of Abyssus at Energylandia. Now if KI were to go with any Vekoma looping coaster launched or not, I really would love to see them pay homage to Vortex and do a batwing element like what Abyssus has in the same spot as Vortex's batwing. -
While it would be cool, it would probably cost more than several of our coasters combined to do this. Also they would need to probably have to build an incline bridge for the train to go up and down for it to be able to have an elevated station over the entrance. While it would be cool, I doubt it would be worth the ROI. Our entrance is good the way it is, I just wish they would find a way to make the facade facing the parking lot look better and get rid of the ugly banners. You can advertise the new additions in other ways.

I believe Cedar Point used to do a Halloween parade before the pandemic. I wouldn't mind seeing one for Tricks and Treats Fall Fest. Would be a good way to use the Parade route between Carnivale and Winterfest.

I know this likely won't happen due to obvious reasons, but I made a little concept that could connect the park with the tennis stadium using a gondola/skylift system. This would allow easy access for people attending the tournament (assuming it stays here) to the park without dealing with the crazy traffic. Also with this concept, the stadium could be used for concerts and other events which is why I have the KI station replacing Timberwolf. This would also come with a second entrance/exit to the park to the skylift station area.

2023 General Kings Island Discussion
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
I was there as a guest from like 4-8 and lines were npt very long at all. In fact from like 6-8 almost everything was pretty much walk on. -
Honestly I have a feeling we may see a few existing rides get rethemed to Camp Snoopy other than Flying Ace. My prediction is we'll see Linus Launcher, Flume, Woodstock Gliders, Kite Eating Tree, Space Buggies, Beetle Bugs, Junction, and Road Rally all become part of Camp Snoopy. Here's a little map I drew on where I think the border between Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy will be: Kite Eating Tree, Junction, Road Rally, and Beetle Bugs all fit Camp Snoopy pretty easily. You can pretty easily retheme Linus Launcher, Gliders, and Space Buggies to match with Camp Snoopy.

Probably one of the few instances with KI where my jaw hit the floor and I needed to find it lol. Definitely was not expecting anything like this to happen in 2024 especially with TT2. My main question is will this reset our coaster clock another few years? Like instead of 2025 being the next big thrill coaster will it now be 2026/27? Who knows. I'm also interested in will it be like Snoopy's Racing Railway where adults have to have a kid to ride? I hope not as Flying Ace and Woodstock Express do just fine without any such requirement and I don't think any other family boomerangs have such requirement. Definitely looking forward to this addition as this back area of Snoopy needed a facelift badly.

2023 General Kings Island Discussion
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
Probably a typo on the app as the calendar on the website says 10 pm close. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/calendar-and-hours -
Interesting. Wonder if we see the removal of Zoom Flume since it is an older slide and would open up space for a pretty large slide. Maybe that water coaster we all want?

Where exactly in Soak City is this marker located? Is it anywhere near the old Pipeline area? I haven't been to Soak City in 6 years so I have no idea where this could be lol. Canada's Wonderland did it for 2020 (2021) where they added a small kids ride in their kids area and the mountain bay cliff jumping thing in their water park in the same year.
-
Yes I did lol and it'll never happen again.

I wasn't the enthusiast I am now back then and was living 2 hours away at the time. In fact I don't remember KI building anything until my parents showed me the video and then I got hooked. I do remember being so hyped about it and my church youth group took a trip for Spirit Song that upcoming summer and I remember my first ride on Banshee being in the front row with the youth minister, his daughter, and this other guy. It was a moment I'll never forget. My first announcement experience was the Orion announcement and I really loved that experience. Sadly I think In Person announcements like that are a thing of the past with social media being the big thing nowadays so they don't really need to go through all the time and money to plan a big in person reveal when they can just share it all over social media which almost everyone has nowadays.

KI Questions that keep you up at night
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
What if Cedar Fair decided to keep Nickelodeon instead of changing them all to Snoopy. Would we have seen parks like Cedar Point get Nickelodeon areas? Would we have seen parks host Nickelodeon events (for example Slimefest)? -
If 2024 is a Snoopy addition I don't see a coaster as you already have Top Thrill 2 and the Dorney project. Plus CF historically hasn't added a new coaster in both parks in the same year for good reason. If 2024 is a Snoopy addition I predict the main big addition would be an indoor dining facility with kids entertainment that's been brought up before along with a couple family/kid flat rides by Zamperla. In terms of what rides, I think a samba balloon would be the best fit as other CF parks have them in their Snoopy areas. Zamperla also offers this Magic Bike Ride that looks like a lot of fun. I'll link it here: https://www.zamperla.com/products/magic-bikes-2/ Now whether or not Planet Snoopy would get a full retheme to Camp Snoopy I'm mixed on. As much as I would be 100% all for the full retheme and it would make the area so much nicer and help transition to Rivertown better, I don't know if they would do the full retheme since they would probably have to remove a few rides and they did just do some repainting in the area. But again they did originally repaint Sling Shot in the 2021-2022 offseason only for it to be removed, so we never really know.
