  1. "Family additions" by themselves are fine. But when the majority of recent additions are "family additions", I agree with @Orion742 it is really getting stale. I personally believe we are now at the point where KI has/has added "family additions" to the point where the park is oversaturated with them. A lot of people I've talked to really would love to see a new high thrill coaster come to KI. The guest demand is there. Not just from coaster enthusiasts, but also from the GP.
  2. If Invertigo is there opening day 2030, I will be genuinely surprised.
  3. Going off what @BoddaH1994 said, Adventure Express's minimum operating temp is 45 degrees, and as soon as the thermometer goes below 50, it runs really slow. With Racer, however, its minimum operating temp is 35 degrees. The other morning I was helping opening up Racer and it was about 38 degrees when we did our morning checks and Racer was running pretty good considering the cold temps. Having The Racer open for Winterfest is a great addition to the lineup. Also idk if this is being discussed yet, but Fastlane for Winterfest? When I look online at Fastlane, says it will be on sale soon. Considering that two coasters are now joining the Winterfest lineup, could we see Fastlane implemented for Winterfest and the end of the single rider lines?
  4. That sounds awesome! I'd love for, at some point, there to be a more in depth seasonal overlay of Boo Blasters for Haunt and WinterFest. Disney is able to do it with Haunted Mansion; I see no reason we can't as well.
  5. Boo Blasters is run by ride operators under the Planet Snoopy jurisdiction. When Planet Snoopy is closed for Haunt, Boo Blasters is too. To my knowledge, its been that way for years.
  6. Idk about you, but KI having the first ever Giga sized bench would be pretty dope!
  7. Current ride operator here! To address the subject of line jumpers: As you probably already know, line jumping is strictly prohibited at Kings Island. ANYONE who sees line jumping should speak with a ride operator as soon as possible about it. Almost every coaster at Kings Island has a distributer (who tells you what row to go to) and that is usually the first person you can go to when reporting line jumpers. Another way to report line jumpers is to text (513) 434-6337 which will go directly to KI security. Something else I should mention. When guests are reporting line jumpers, there needs to be two or more different parties that saw the suspected line jumping. Only when two or more different parties witness line jumping can the ride operator tell the line jumpers to go to the end of the line and wait their turn. However, if a ride operator sees line jumping for themselves, they will tell the line jumpers to go to the back of the line and wait their turn. Failure by line jumpers to comply in either situation will result in either a ride supervisor to tell them to go to the back of the line or KI security being called. That is how our line jumping policy was explained to me during training.
  8. Figured I'd add some positive reviews lol. I recently tried the burnt ends at Coney BBQ. And as someone who loves a good BBQ, I can confidently say that they've hit the nail on the head! I've now had the burnt ends several times and every time I've had them they've been cooked very good. The little bits of fat melts in your mouth and the sauce on them is just SO GOOD. The hush puppy they give you is also really good (big fan of hush puppies lol). I'd say the best side you can get with the burnt ends is the mac and cheese. All of that combined is very good and its now my go to meal at KI. Very close to the burnt ends in second place is, of course, the pub burger at the Brewhouse. I had my first one of the season last visit before I had to clock in and it was very good as always.
  9. Why did I read this in a Morgan Freeman voice?
  10. Pretty sure a few years back before covid they used part of the path for a haunt maze. I wanna say it was Cornered or something abandoned.
  11. I did it for the first time in 2023. I dont mind it being an upcharge attraction and frankly with my other two friends is one of the most thrilling rides at KI.
  12. The physical path is still there. Only a small sliver of it was torn up for Orion. Wonder if they will ever use it again...
  13. If you look closely at the large window there, they always had a spare horse or two from the carousel on display. I remember my grandparents and I walking past that on our way out of KI every time we visited.
  14. I would imagine so. 2020-2021 we low attendance years because of covid. 2022 started the rebound to pre-covid levels. It just makes sense it would happen for 2023.
  15. Went to Winterfest last Saturday (11/25) and overall the park looks great. Mystic Timbers gave a great ride as usual and I now prefer Sol Spin during Winterfest. The only thing that disappointed me was Flight of Fear only running one train, which I did not ride. Hopefully it will not be like that the entirety of Winterfest. Hot chocolate was good as usual. I still consider Winterfest a good time.
  16. I love how KI is just randomly scheduled to be open Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 10-8 without being open the rest of the weekend.
  17. As a someone who prefers wooden coasters to steel, this is horrible news. Six Flags does not take good care of their wooden coasters for the most part. I pray that Racer, Beast and Mystic Timbers don't fall into the same poor quality that other Six Flags wooden coaster fall into. Hopefully the Cedar Fair side of the merger continues to operate Kings Island and maintains our wood coasters to the same high level they have the last several years. I also want to make very clear that an RMC hybrid of any KI wooden coaster will be a mistake of unfathomable proportions. I am most worried about Beast. Mark my words, if they ever RMC Beast, I will never go to Kings Island again. If they really want to give Kings Island an RMC, build a ground up one. Simple as that. Even removing the wooden coaster aspect, I am worried about what this is going to do to Kings Island. Kings Island is a very special place to a lot of people (I myself included) and the Six Flags branding is going to erode the unique charm of Kings Island and make it feel like every other park. The point is I just don't have a good feeling about this merger from the quality aspect of the park. I have a gut feeling that over the next few years, unless the Cedar Fair side is able to maintain Kings Island the way it has been, we will see Kings Island change not for the better. Change is a part of life, but there is a difference between good change and bad change. I am 100% willing to give this a chance and I am. But there are a thousand ways that this can mess up and I pray that the right decisions are made and not ones that will irreversibly damage Kings Island.
  18. I would 110% LOVE to see this! Also, Id rather do sledding on the waterslides in Soak City than the log flume lol.
  19. Imagine the whole train course COVERED in Christmas lights (especially the woods after the trestle bridge)...even better, imagine that with snow! Anyways lol I sorta agree.
  20. So I've though about Haunt and what all has been said here (as well as another thread) and here are my thoughts: Kings Island's Haunt (or Fearfest when it started way back in 2000) has always been an event where the purpose was to take most of regular Kings Island and add a Halloween twist to it in the form of later operating hours, scare zones and scare mazes, and scare actors roaming a fog covered park. Boiled down, Kings Island infused with haunted houses (sorry if this sounds rather simplistic; I really don't know how else to say this lol) The point is that its supposed to be scary. Halloween is the holiday of fear. Scary and fear is not family friendly is most instances. A scare maze themed to a shopping mall overrun with zombies is NOT family friendly. Haunt in general is not a family oriented event and its not supposed to be. If families want to experience Kings Island during the Halloween season but do not like the gore of Haunt, there is literally an ENTIRE family friendly event that takes place 11-6 (which is a little over half of the operating day) on Saturdays and basically all day Sunday. So families with young children should plan accordingly or else not be surprised when 6 and 7pm come around. Kings Island literally advertises that Haunt is not suitable for younger audiences. Families dragging their kids around Haunt and then complaining about the intensity of it is just ridiculous. Its the same logic as bringing your family through Dent Schoolhouse and wondering why all of your kids have soaked pants and then blame the people who run Dent Schoolhouse. In this specific regard, Kings Island should not catch flak for the poor planning of families. Tricks or Treats Fallfest is family oriented. Haunt is not. Period. Anyways, getting to some more specific details, roaming scare actors have been a staple of Haunt since its inception. Having scare actors themed to their respective areas is the best possible use of that resource. It adds to the areal theming of each haunt area and it adds to the atmosphere of haunt itself. The fog at Kings Island is also a staple. Walking around the park when its covered in fog (with the scare actors roaming around) as well as getting the LEGENDARY night rides with the fog is something that only can be understood by experiencing it. To end this off, I know that Kings Island has been facing budget cuts this year. I will say its certainly affecting and has affected the atmosphere of haunt so far this year and in the last several years. All I can say is that hopefully Kings Island doesn't cut any more budgets and that hopefully in the near future they can raise budgets.
  21. So, to renew my gold pass as well as renew all season dining and add all season drinks and the all park passport, with fees and taxes its $415. I guess I'm going broke lol
  22. Also call me crazy, but is Flying Ace Aerial Chase getting a color scheme change? Going from orange supports and yellow track to brown supports and green track...
  23. Looks like in addition to a new family coaster, there will be a children's play area as well. Overall, this seems like a nice addition and some much needed love for the back part of Planet Snoopy, Do you think this is Kings Island going for the Golden Ticket Award for best kids area again?
  24. I will say this though. I am REALLY excited for Haunt this year not for just the spooky mazes, but for the night rides!
