My speculation is that the person who originally posted the news edited an official park email to make it say that "The Monster was being retired". Now why someone would actually go through the effort of doing that is another question entirely.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
WoodVengeance replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
My apologies for reposting that false information earlier. I admit I was fooled by it as well, as I was just trying to let you guys know if Monster truly was going to be retired. The source contained an email image that was convincingly provided by the park itself The topic at-hand being rather niche, as only a few people online really know about anything odd surrounding Monster right before park opening. So I didn't think someone would go that far to make up something like that for clout. So I guess the main takeaway is, don't trust any information (especially on Facebook), unless it is confirmed by the park itself. That, admittedly, also opens up another can of worms, as it was because of word-of-mouth that we knew about rides like Kingda Ka potentially closing before it actually did. -

Exactly why I put the word "apparently" on my initial post. People will fake the weirdest things. -
Kings Island General Discussion 2025
WoodVengeance replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I would say so. However, I don't think the 2026 attraction is going to go in the Monster plot, as it definitely feels like the decision to remove Monster was made at the very last minute. Edit: Not confirmed yet if Monster is retired. -

Soak City 2025 Construction Updates
WoodVengeance replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
"For the first time in park history, we're also going to provide blue ice cream here in Soak City waterpark" There's a snack stand next to the Soak City entrance called "Calypso Coolers" and they have blue ice cream. I've only been to Soak City once in the last decade and even I know more about it than the park's PR team. -
Something is Surfacing 9-19-2024
WoodVengeance replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Siren's Curse has been officially added to the Cedar Point app. Here's the details I've noticed after comparing the area before and after on Google Maps: The midway appears to be slightly more narrow due to the addition of Siren's Curse Iron Dragon's new queue will take up the former spot of the Celebration Plaza stage The area I've highlighted with a purple box appears to be where the in-queue lockers will be located. There's also a wider path section right before you get to the stairs leading up to the station. I assume that's where the metal detectors will be located. The exit will have you go through some sort of building, it's unclear whether this building will just be used for on-ride photos or if it will have a gift shop in it as well. There's also another new building located right next to the exit building, what this will be used for remains to be seen. The parking lot located between Siren's Curse and Valravn is new. The rerouted perimeter road goes through part of where the current parking lot for the marina is, so the new parking lot will likely be added to make up for that. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
WoodVengeance replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Well who didn't see that one coming? Although, they did say that Lex Luthor is going to remain operational after Superman closes. I assume Lex Luthor will likely close later once they decide to demolish the structure. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
WoodVengeance replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
True, but there are at least three other coasters highly likely to get removed from that park. Superman Escape From Krypton being an old and rare Intamin model that's been SBNO since September Ninja being an Arrow Suspended Coaster that's already rumored to be removed after 2025 Viper being one of the last Arrow mega loopers out there Throw X2 in there and that would be four major coasters cut from Magic Mountain. Although I'm sure the new Six Flags wouldn't mind it if it meant they could market Cedar Point as having the most coasters in the world... -
Vekoma is a strong contender when you factor in their reliability, smooth ride experiences (at least for their new coasters) and lower height requirements compared to B&M. Vekoma already appears to be a manufacturer Six Flags wants to build a strong relationship with, as the combined chain has purchased at least six Vekoma coasters since 2023. Something like a multi-launch would work great, but I could also seeing it being something more unique like what Magic Mountain is getting. Heck, something like a Vekoma Flyer would be an incredibly solid addition to the park. I have also previously endorsed the idea of a Tilt Coaster coming to the park, but that no longer seems likely because a certain "other park" nearby decided to beat us to the punch with that. Given Cedar Fair's previous favoritism towards them, I could also see another B&M being built at the park. Admittedly, I would personally view it as a boring decision to go with another B&M, but it would still be a popular hit with the general public, so I couldn't really blame the park for wanting to play it safe in that regard. I do think Vekoma and B&M are going to be the manufacturers Six Flags works with most for new coasters, but I also want to throw in the possibility of a Gerstlauer Infinity for Kings Island as well, considering it was an option on one of the surveys the park put out last year, and those surveys do seem to strongly hint at future additions coming to different Six Flags parks. Zamperla could also work, though I doubt Six Flags wants to work for them for anything beyond a typical family coaster given the issues with TT2.

WoF Timberwolf Closed 2025
WoodVengeance replied to johnjniehaus's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's definitely notable that they posted "This attraction will be closed for the 2025 season". That suggests they plan on reopening it afterwards, otherwise they would've removed Timberwolf from the site altogether as we've seen with other rides in the chain. Usually retrack projects are primarily done during off-seasons and are usually completed by the time the park opens back up. If a retrack project takes longer than a single off-season, then the project is done in multiple "phases" with each phase being completed each off-season (The Racer being an example of this) For a wooden coaster to be closed for an entire season like this suggests this might be a really substantial refurbishment, one that they won't take multiple off-seasons to complete like we've seen with Racer. I'm curious to see what comes out of this. It's also worth noting "THAT" being a possibility, but I'm doubtful since Cedar Fair seems to primarily be running the new Six Flags chain and I do think they would have considered Timberwolf retired if "THAT" happened. -
The Vortex and Son of Beast plots aren't really flat areas at all, so I can't really see a flat ride going there. A coaster could work in those areas, but for this discussion I want to primarily focus on flat rides. The Skyflyer plot in Action Zone would probably be the safest option for a flat ride. The last time Action Zone added anything notable (besides a Coke stand) was in 2014 with Banshee, so over a decade ago. Once Skyflyer gets removed, there will be a nice, large, flat plot of land to work with that most types of flat rides could fit in. Another area I would like to give attention to is in Rivertown. As of right now, Rivertown does not have any flat rides and the last time that area has added anything was Mystic Timbers eight years ago. It could go either in the area behind the Eiffel Tower or the park could remove the Crypt building to make room there. Personally, I think it would be better for Rivertown to add a new water attraction like what Carowinds is adding next year.

Swingshot and Black Widow at Kennywood are pretty close to each other, so it could work for Action Zone.
-
It's definitely possible. I could see the Skyflyer plot being used for whatever that 2026 family thrill attraction is. I think something like a S&S Screamin' Swing would fit there well there as a fitting replacement for a Skyflyer attraction. That's just mainly an idea though, so we'll have to see what happens with that plot of land come this season.

It's possible they may just keep them there SBNO until another park buys them like what happened to T3. Either that or they haven't gotten around to removing them yet. From what I've seen online, the park is currently working on taking out Deluge.

Currently my amusement park trips for this year are looking like: March: Dollywood June: Indiana Beach (haven't been before) August: Cedar Point As well as having season passes for both Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom Try to get on Good Gravy first thing if you can. It only runs one train, so the line can get pretty backed up. Thankfully the park does hand out time cards if the line does get bad, so you can do other things in the park and come back when it's your time to get on. Also keep in-mind Holiday World is on central time, so it's an hour behind if you're coming from the east.

Controversial opinions that'll get you punched by a KI fan

I'm not sure when you rode it, but I rode it last year and it was running smooth and whippy for me. -
Controversial opinions that'll get you punched by a KI fan
WoodVengeance replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
I don't think anyone who rode both of those is arguing with that. I'd even say Afterburn and Batman at SFGAm are better than Banshee for the same reasons. -
The new area looks great. Not sure how I feel about the name "Wind Chaser" though. It seems the park wanted to keep part of the original Storm Chaser name, but I think they should've just went with a completely different name instead. The coaster is supposed to be themed to an Owl, so something like "Nightowl" would've fit a lot better in my opinion than Wind Chaser.

Given what's been happening at other parks, I don't think Mike would be the one to make that decision.
