Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
WoodVengeance replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Although it isn't technically a Coney Mall addition, I would argue Orion's prescence behind The Racer has impacted Coney Mall quite a lot, especially towards the back of the midway where if you're walking in by BLSC and Jukebox Diner, the lift hill is right there in your face. But if we're counting just Coney Mall attractions, I would say the biggest changes to that area in recent years were mainly Vortex getting removed, KMAA and the repaint of Racer. -
Yeah, of course it wouldn't be the same ride if they were to resurrect the IP. I was specifically referring to the people who think they are going to bring back the ride in the same state as it was before.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
WoodVengeance replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I think whatever goes in The Vortex plot should have an early 20th century theme to fit in with the rest of the Coney Mall area, hence why I suggested naming it "Shooting Star" or something else relating to Coney Island. I also thought a 50's hot rod theme could also work, but I think the park could go with something more unique than a car theme, especially with BLSC and KMAA right next door. -
Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

Possibly. This is just a thought I've had and I don't really think it's entirely feasible budget-wise for a coaster year, but could it be possible to retheme Coney Mall into Coney Island? Mainly with remodeling some buildings to look like this picture below or retheming some of the shops and restaurants to fit in with a Coney Island theme. Have the cherry on top be a new coaster in The Vortex plot themed to Shooting Star. I think it would be a really nice way to pay homage to Kings Island's predecessor. With the actual Coney Island being shut down, I don't think the park would need to contact them in order to use their name but I could be wrong. -
Of the people who advocate for bringing back Son of Beast, I wonder how many of them have actually ridden it back in the day. I rode it once in 2008 (after the loop was removed) and it's easily the worst coaster I've ever ridden to this day.

What time did you go on ET? I went up on it during sunset and the line was only like a one elevator wait.

Kings Island 2024 Food Reviews and Discussion
WoodVengeance replied to SmartCat7162's topic in Kings Island
Probably. I mean, it was just a drink so it's not the biggest deal in the world. I was just baffled a bit because this was never an issue I had with the single meal deal before. I only get food at the park a couple times a year, so that's why I elect to buy the single meals and it's nice that it comes with a drink too, something you don't get included with most of the all-day and season dining plans. -
Kings Island 2024 Food Reviews and Discussion
WoodVengeance replied to SmartCat7162's topic in Kings Island
So I got Coney BBQ tonight using the single meal pass. The person at the register said that drinks aren't included in the single-use dining plan even though it clearly says in the app that it does. Did they change it without updating it in the app or was it an error on their part? I did not have this problem when I used one two weeks ago. I suspect what might have happened was that they misinterpreted my plan as an all-day dining plan, because they said I needed to upgrade to the premium dining plan to get a drink. Wouldn't the system tell them that was not the plan I had? -
Thinking back on it, I don't think this was the first time we saw the back of Timberwolf removed like this. Perhaps they could just be doing work on it? I saw that Music in the Parks already has an event scheduled for the park next year.
-
There's also the previous report of the timberwolf sign near the front entrance being removed as well. We should also pay attention to Xtreme Skyflyer since that's in the area too. Canada's Wonderland's was removed without any prior warning. I want to emphasize that this does not confirm anything of a new attraction going in the Action Zone section nor does this confirm any sort of land clearing is even taking place. But I am interested to see what this area will look like next year.
-
I'm hoping that will be addressed with the future coaster that'll go in The Vortex plot.

The first drop height of Orion (300ft) is the same height as Millennium Force's first drop (300ft), so yes. Orion is as much of a giga as Millennium Force is. You'd think we'd get over this after five years.

Silver Dollar City announcement
WoodVengeance replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm personally waiting to see what their next major addition is before I plan a trip there. It's definitely on my bucket list for the next several years as well as other parks I'd like to hit up as well. -
Silver Dollar City announcement
WoodVengeance replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Also, Silver Dollar City is still making an announcement on the 17th for something else. -
If it doesn't reopen, Top Thrill 2 easily. Say what you want about Son of Beast, but at least that was open for more than a week. I'm at least hopeful Cedar Point and Zamperla can get Top Thrill 2 fixed for 2025, so it's smooth sailing from there, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'm bringing these up because I know they were brought up in past discussions. I can confirm that the eternal flame for Son of Beast in Banshee's queue was lit as of tonight. Also, there was no visible light coming from the casket in front of the Son of Beast grave.

Project 305 "nearing completion"...
WoodVengeance replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Seems like the Bengals coaster went to the wrong Kings park, lol -
My thoughts exactly. If RMC was actually contracted to work on a new project for Kings Island, wouldn't there be a non-disclosure agreement that would prevent them from making posts like this before a potential ride announcement?
-
I agree that Kings Island doesn't really need a dive coaster. Personally, I feel if Kings Island were going to go with the route of a ground-up RMC or Gravity Group/GCI, it would be best for it to have a steel structure as opposed to a wooden one (see Arieforce One or The Voyage) That way there shouldn't be as many structural issues compared to if they kept the structure wooden. I know that's been one of the primary issues plaguing Steel Vengeance since a lot of the structure for that was reused from Mean Streak.

If I were to guess, either Magic Mountain or Carowinds.

Something is Surfacing 9-19-2024
WoodVengeance replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It was also heavily rumored that Six Flags Mexico was going to theme their tilt coaster to Harley Quinn, as they used her in one of the teasers they released before they were supposed to make their announcement. It would explain why Siren's Curse has a red/gray color scheme if that was originally supposed to be themed to Harley Quinn. Also adding to this, it would also explain why the trains have a green and purple color scheme if those were supposed to represent Joker, who is also heavily tied to Harley Quinn. -
Even still. If it was just a thing where the flame was out for a maintenance issue, that wouldn't explain the decorative plants they have covering the top of the tombstone.
-
That could just be for repaving the lot if I had to guess. Even if there was going to be a new coaster using the SOB station (not saying there is, just a theoretical scenario), there's plenty of other land they could use for it. I doubt they would need to use part of the preferred lot for it.

Interesting. Was the Son of Beast casket the only one that was lit up like that? Or were there others?
