  1. ^Could'nt the lack of strategic marketing also have led to its downfall, no offense to PKI's fantastic marketing team, but the only times I ever saw Winterfest advertised was on a billboard off of I-75 going towards Cincinnati and a small psoter at Kroger's in Fairfield. No radio commericals, and the only thing I saw on tv was a commercial to come in and apply to work at PKI for winterfest, not for the actual event. I think they were too dependent on assuing that those who had come in years passed would all come flocking back.
  2. ^I'm sure if you just let them know they'll make sure you get credit, it was probabyl just a mistake.
  3. Could they possibly just be cancelling it this year because theyare going to have their hands full with integrating policies and people into 5 new major parks and possibly making many changes throughout the park, if thats so, maybe winterfest will return in a few more years when they feel they can do it right, but this year its probably just in their way. Another question posed is since the tickets were sold under CBS ownership then the cancelation took place under Cedar Fair ownership, did CBS get the money, and CF have to pay it back?
  4. Very nice update, that is the most thourough and best collection of PKI hisotry I've ever seen on the net, all the information. Work like this goes to show yet again why PKIC is #1!
  5. ^I was gonna say isnt he at The Magnum reguarly? and whats with that uniform lol?
  6. Togo still thrives as a coaster making company in Japan, I believe they've built two new coasters this year over seas. Their U.S. headquarters were once in Cincinnati.
  7. There was/still is a big difference between a togo stand up and a B&M stand up.
  8. ^I rode in wheel seats this year before the accident and didnt have a proble, I enjoyed the ride a lot, it became my favorite coaster at PKI and I hated it from 2000 - 2005. The work done on it this year was fantastic, now I'm about 6'1 so I find the trains a little discomforting too, and I know a lot of other taller people do as well, but I also sometimes find The Beast to be quite uncomfortable for the knees as well as fof and Vortex (unless in a front seat of a car on Vortex). I think most people complaining about SOB havent ridden it with the re-tracking work.
  9. ^This isnt the big hotel you can see off of route 4 across from Springdale Cinema De-Luxe and I-275 is it? I didnt think thats a sheraton anymore.
  10. "During a corckscrew part of the ride" do journalists not do any research anymore? Since when did a turn become known as a corckscrew, I know when I hit an exit ramp at high speed in my car and make atight turn I dont go "im getting on the corckscrew of exit 15"
  11. ^According to Jeff Seibert, the original plan was to build the GWL then eventuallyput in a new campground behind SOB featuring the ammenities and upgrades the campground at Carowinds has now, however due to the recent sale who knows whats going to happen?
  12. I'll get some more up soon (around 200) and the documentary up too.
  13. ^Camden Park in Virgina that now has the screaming demon? Its closed? Wow, hadnt heard that yet.
  14. Partially, they were both just bigger and better attractions that offered more, but Surf Cincinnati had more reasonable prices. I think the problem Surf Cincinnati had was that it wasnt in a very good area, it was back in some corner of forest park right off of I-275 surrounded by a bunch of industrial warehouses, factories, and businesses. Its a good business area but not good for a water park, the park changed hands somewhere around 2001 I think and sold for like 2 million dollars but the new owner I guess just didnt like how it was doing and just closed it along with Caddy's out front. THe banquet center around it though seems to still be operating, the past few times I've drive to Surf's parking lot one of the banquet centers has had a different event listed on the front every tiem I've been there.
  15. ^Yeah, theres no reason for posting with all the caps lock on, and like AZkindaguy said, the Chery PIcker by Top Gun is for inspecting Top Gun, the SOB one is still next to its loop, and theres also one for The Vortex, there used to be two for Scooby Doo's ghoster coaster too.
  16. ^What about riding a coaster at 1 in the morning 5 times in a row while discussing architecture and amusement park politics with CoastersRZ? Beastbuzz was a fun time, and I cant wait for future events like it!
  17. I remember going to Surf Cincinnati many times when I was a kid, it was a fun place and I have lots of good memories there, same with Americana. However, looking back on it now, I could see The Beach and Kings Island having far better waterparks at the time, although Surf Cincinnati was never as crowded and still a blast. Most of Surf Cincinnati still stands although a lot of the structures have been torn down, such as the stairs for the slides, the slides are still standing. Heres a look at probably the most impressive structure still standing... ...The wave pool. Today Surf Cincinnati's only guests are skunks, birds, racoons, and hobos (no joke). I wonder what Americana looks like right now...have they started tearing it down....I hear Al Couch has a security team guarding it.
  18. ^Like everyone has said, the all new Nickelodeon Universe is sure to be a hit with your kids and theres plenty for the adults when they want to break away and have some fun of their own, make sure to let us know how your trip goes, and when checking out the attraction pages here at PKICentral make sure you check out some of the "central tips"?
  19. ^I believe CP, and I know for a fact that Dorney and Worlds of fun do, uses the height scales as well, as they are more accurate and fair.
  20. ^Speaking as a former ride op I'm sure its not a problem for you to come up the exit should the ride not have a greeter, also, just remember that its the policy at any park that the bar on the height scale must stop on the childs head (even if it is touching the childs hair but is still sliding freely back and forth the child can not be considered tall enough) this may seem unfair but its for the child's own safety so please be considerate of the ride operators who are just doing thier job. I hope you have a great trip and that your kids have a wonderful day that will be remember for a long time, I miss being younger and going to amusement parks, they were always so much more amazing back then. Make sure you tell us how the trip goes!
  21. If Tomb Raider was closed it was probably due to a technical difficulty as it does not close early on a regular basis, and whats this about Cedar Fair making a change for the better? Whats wrong with some food stands closing around 9, theres still PLENTY open, and if thats close to closing time and if I were you I would just wait an hour and hit up the many fast food options around the park.
