The first time I've disagreed with the wise and all knowing O'Terpy. Skyline is where it's at. Am I the only one here who wouldn't mind seeing Dixie open their first Ohio location?

After getting last ride of the night on Flight Deck on Thursday, I have to say that's the best sounding ride (FD at night). It's really quiet back there at night, so the only sounds you hear are those of the coaster, its riders, and lots and lots of crickets.

Wednesday was a great day for rides. At the end of the night it was so dead that I got two straight 5-1 rides on Vortex without having to get off. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

SoB's failure was not really due to the push for world records. It was due to a series of bad management decisions and poor construction. A state inspector in 2009 placed the blame on park management (http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/200911/1529/). This old article from The Enquirer also shows how bad things were handled: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/11/23/loc_kings_island_sues.html (that was published just 7 months after the coaster opened).

I had one on Wednesday. Not bad, but not as good as Great Steak (or Penn Station for that matter).

At this point I'm just hoping we still have a Slingshot next season...

I'm not entirely sure yet. It looks like they might be preparing to do some work back by the graveyard, but it's hard to tell. Most of the work is still focused on the area where all the footers are right now.

They wouldn't be sending out a message to their text subscribers if you had to pay to see it and/or it wasn't open to the public. -
When FoF first opened, word was that the government was looking into using LIM technology for launching fighter jets. Whether or not that was true, I have no idea, but LIM was pretty state-of-the-art at the time.

I agree with you about the Tilt-a-Whirl ride op. She seemed to be having a blast.

What ride would you not ride at Kings island.
Oldiesmann replied to CP&LERR Fan's topic in Kings Island
I can definitely imagine why that would cause problems. That could be why they have sensors on them to prevent them from colliding (the white "fin" below the rear of each helicopter plays a role in this as I recall). -

The pedals on the helicopters don't actually do anything. When I worked at that ride in 2005, I was told that the pedals originally provided the power to move the helicopters, but they changed things because people weren't pedaling. Whether or not that's true, I don't know. -
Huck's Hot Rods is still there - it's called Peanuts Off-Road Rally now. It's just in a different location and has different vehicles than the Huck version did (when it was Huck-themed, it was closer to the helicopter ride and kiddy bumper cars. It was moved to its current location with the current vehicles during the renovation/expansion of that area in the 2005-2006 off-season).

I agree that the special things like behind-the-scenes tours are much more enjoyable than specialty ERT. Earlier this month, I went to the event hosted by CoasterCrew, and the best part of it for me was getting an extensive behind-the-scenes tour of Beast (we walked back to the 2nd lift hill, got to see the motor shed for that hill and chatted with a maintenance guy [the same one that you chatted with during the KIC event]) and getting to see the international restaurant, still sporting 1970s-style furniture.

I'll plan on being there, though if I come, it won't be until afternoon as I have church in the morning.
