From the humorous side of things: If you are going to do the big splash, it would have to be on Amazon Falls. If things have been rough, renew your vows on SoB. Getting cold feet? FoF would be the way to go. Not your first attempt at taking the vows? Do it again on AE. Expecting a competitive marrige? Let Racer decide who will make the decision. (Just leave it to the imagination of who will do it backwards .) Pain in the a$$ mother-in-law? Show her that you are dropping into her family on DT. With a smile of course (and the threat of her restraint becoming undone)! Are you a fat white guy with a super-model future wife? FOC makes the most sense. Getting married to a much older person? Take a trip on the Crypt. Ahhh. the list could go on and on....

Skyscraper at Cedar Point

Can you please explain how CP is spoiled. I didn't entirely mean it, but CP just gets cool stuff every year, and we don't get much cool stuff every year... The reason why CP does get upcharge rides like this in Challenge Park is due to Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites being located on the point itself. Challenge Park is open later than the main park so those staying on park property will spend a couple extra bucks enjoying themselves. CP having a resort atmosphere is also the reason why they can get away with charging to get into Soak City. -
This tax not only effected entertainment venues like Kennywood and CLP, but things like: our local hockey & baseball teams, orchestra, stage productions, comedy club etc. It's good to see that it might be done away with. This is a prime example of what the tax was doing to some businesses: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11606

That looks to be the same type of ride as the one in Sacramento where you are not allowed to scream. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/04/...in2645583.shtml CP press release link added: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/news.cfm -

As seen in the other topic you started: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ic=11659&hl -
You make a number of assumptions. From that both will be running forward to that both will be open when you are in line. Keep in mind that if this change happens, it makes it MUCH easier for the park to only run one side on light days...and your line will then likely be close to twice as long as it would otherwise be. Assumptions seem to be running high these days. To both sides going forward... To only one side operating... To longer lines...

Many people would love to have the movies mirror the novels, but that is almost impossible unless fans and Warner Brothers were willing to give up many other things. Namely: - The movies would not be able to be released as quickly as they have been. - There is no way the last four movies would be under 4 hours each. Production companies want to keep most movies at a reasonable length under 3 hours. Sure there will be some exceptions, but those would be individual movies, not a series of movies like HP would be. - The main 3 characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione) would not be able to be played by their current actors for each movie. Even as it is today, it is difficult to imagine that those characters are only 15 by the way they act and look in the movies. Adult versions of Harry Potter? I'm sure that you realize that these books & movies are supposed to be for younger kids. Your "adult version" sounds like something you would pick up at 3:00am with a roll of ... Well you get the idea.

Yup. That's the best. Hands down. I did read on another site that someone believes that CF is going to change the name of Beast to Talon.

Valleyfair Questions...
Browntggrr replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
VF was purchased by Cedar Point in 1978 creating Cedar Fair Limited Partnership. CP and VF were the first CF properties, hence the "Cedar" and "Fair". Why they have chosen not to go Peanuts? Meh.. I have no idea. But don't read into it too much. -
The official rumor? Yes. It officially is a rumor. The coaster type is a rumor, and the location is a rumor too. Other than that, everthing else is simply not true.

I think that the park made a good decision by announcing SoB when they did. It was 2000. Many businesses were gearing up for the new millenium. Meaning that there was all kinds of competion for KI when it came down to where people decided to spend their money for vacations that year. There also was a certain park to the North that was building a steel blue monster that was also going to break many records just like SoB did. Ironically enough, that same park also announced their new ride earlier than usual as well (July). And let's not forget about another former park that was opening 4 new coasters in 2000 as well. KI had to distance themselves from CP and do their best to be more "unique" with their new ride. They also had to let people know that to truely enjoy all the Ohio parks, your trip had to include Southern Ohio. 2000 was a very unique year for the amusement industry. It is also too bad that some very bad business decisions were made just because it was 2000.

Now do maintenance personnel have to climb a ladder or steps to get up there or is there an elevator?

^ The thing is, GL was not just failing in the 4 years under CF, but in the 4 years under SF as well. And SF had the animal side, yet still was compelled to sell anyway. Sure SF did very well in the beginning, but things took a considerable downturn before they sold to CF. Honestly, enthusiast aside, do you actually think CF would not give 100% to keep GL operating? What advantage do they have to shut it down and sell it after 4 years of trying to make it work? Or even ask yourself these questions: why was CF the only party intrested in acquiring SFWoA? Why did Busch sell Sea World to SF in the first place when they could have easily acquired GL prior to SF? Busch is in the amusement and animal attraction business, yet chose not to do exactly what SF did. That alone speaks volumes. There is an infinite amount of things CF could have done. But when do you throw the towel in? After 8 years of losing money instead of four? But they can't operate a park in the red for an extended amount of time. Munarriz knows that. And if CF would have kept GL open, yet operate it in the red, he would have criticized CF for doing that as well. It is a shame what happened to GL, and I'm sure if someone would have came forward and offered CF a reasonable amount to purchase the park, they would have taken it.

^ To answer your question: Cheap, enthusiast-minded comment. Did he really expect CF to continue to float a failing park? This will not be the third season watching over the aquired parks. Does he actually believe that in July of '06 CF was going to come in and change everything? And how does he know if 2008 will not be a special year? Considering that CF is exactly where they planned to be, how can they be longing for a new identity?
