  1. ^ Yes I am. The old Mill Run was a rather intresting ride. Kids would constantly dump in a couple bottles of Mr. Bubble causing mass chaos.
  2. There has to be more to the story. I really can't see the park kicking a person without just cause. Chances are, the smoker was given a chance to put it out, and they did not heed the warning, too bad for them. And good decision for the park.
  3. What is the definition of stupid? A government agency pointing out that a company is in violation of a certain regulation, and then the company turns around and does nothing to correct the issue. They deserve every penny of the fines.
  4. I suppose I was just expecting Winterfest '05 to be like it was in the late 80's.
  5. Now that is what I call timing. CP has installed another cam near the Good Time Theatre (ice show) looking North on the midway. Apparently they were having dry runs for the Halloweekends parade. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/webcams/index.cfm
  6. When Paramount brought back Winterfest in '05 they half-assed it. It was really nothing more than window dressing for an event that they cancelled after the 1992 season and brought back as a selling piece to a potential new owner. Not to mention, CF already had enough on it's plate with the acquisition of Paramount Parks. Winterfest did not make enough money (if any at all) to warrent the time to try and bring it back to what it was before Paramount cancelled it.
  7. The thing is, 15 years ago, flumes like this were at many parks. And boy, they were terrific family rides! I'm just glad that the park near me just installed one a couple years ago.
  8. The decision was made by multiple factors, not just one. High maintenance + low ridership + land already developed (flat) = removal
  9. Since CP actually sells out the hotels on a daily basis, I highly doubt there would be any kind of discount other than the normal "plan" they have always offered.
  10. The CP website is actually adding two more cams somewhere in the park. They have had 2 brand new cams for about 2 months now, but have not yet put them online, or, have not found a good placement for them yet.
  11. ^ Actually the area that DD is bigger than you would think, as is the rather large parking lot on that side of the peninsula as well. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=3269
  12. Who knows... Since CF does have naming rights for a few more years, they really don't have to spend the money on it right now.
  13. ^ Since we have DZ, DD really has no place at KI. Sure it gives somewhat of a different ride, but not enough to warrent a removal at CP/ rebuild at KI. But the real question is; since DD has been for sale for a couple years now, what is in store for that land it currently sits on? CP is notorious for planning WAY ahead (i.e. removal of Dodgems for TTD, removal of Aquarium arcade for WT, removal of swan boats & WWL for Maverick etc.). If the ride was not worth being open, they would have dismantled it by now since it appears it will not be sold. ... or I am just thinking too much at 2:41am.
  14. ^ I guess they figure that could be a deciding factor if a family goes to another park or not.
  15. You probably already know this.... The whole strata- restaurant idea was the hot rumor for CP before TTD was announced. Some rumors are rather funny.
  16. My point is, if the park does not allow people to re-enter due to concerns about what individuals are going to do in the parking lot, then perhaps the park needs to have more security present to try and curtail extra-curricular activities. Granted, you can't stop everything. But why stop a person from going back their car for a legitimate reason? 4 hours is one thing, but 8 hours is a whole different ball of wax. I am purely speaking hypothetical here: If someone is on a strict diet due to diabetis, and they need to eat every 2 hours, but you will not allow them to go back to their car to eat, now you are forcing them to eat in the park with outrageous prices. It just does not seem right.
  17. ^ Excellent points. I despise some changes too. I still question the whole "Japanese steel" theory. Only because, if it was bad steel, then it was bad. But then how can you try and sell the ride WITH bad steel? It just does not add up.
  18. If the powers that be felt they would make money by being open, the park would be open. Not to mention, how many seasonal parks are open during the week in September? KI is certainly not the only park.
  19. But if they cannot even patrol their own parking lot, how safe is the park to begin with? Not giving people the right to leave because the park cannot control the parking lot is a HUGE issue. SFNE is saying that you should have no reason to leave the park for over 8 hours. Is the decision due to safety, or making more money?
  20. ^ While I can understand why you wouldn't want some people going back to their cars (extra-curricular activities), then have more security on hand to police the parking lot and the main gate. Don't put out people that don't deserve it.
  21. ^ While I don't like either way the parks are not allowing re-entry, KBF is not as bad. Only because, thier Halloween event is a set 7:00pm start. The park is not open earlier than that. Whereas at SFNE there is no re-entry after 4:00pm, yet the park is open all day. How long has KBF had this policy?
