KIC Off Season Poll Series 2016 Week V: What is the best B&M Coaster in Ohio?
IBEW_Sparky replied to BB1's topic in KI Polls
I think Banshee would be 2nd after Raptor, then probably Gatekeeper, followed by that weak Valravn, with DB 5th and the still painful Rougarou in 6th. As far as my vote, I would vote Banshee as the best of these 6. -
Holiday World 2017 Announcement

SWEET! I Love Calypsos, and now I wont have to drive to Sandusky to ride one Im also happy they aren't screwing up Voyage by reconfiguring the layout in any way (which I was very much in fear of after the Legend stunt they pulled last year) and just just doing the typical re-tracking. -
Exactly that! Maverick, while a fun ride, was a turd with its original restraints. Vortex is, and always will be, a turd because of having to have a "special way to ride it". SOB fit that same bill. If I CHOOSE to ride a ride in a certain seat or row because one gives different forces or feelings than the other, fine. If I HAVE to ride a ride in 1-1 ONLY to not get the Hell beat out of me (SOB), then there is something wrong with the ride from the start. See also, Rougarou.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk
IBEW_Sparky replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
In a broad matter of speaking, it could be construed that way. While the lift had already peaked by the time it made its curve around to the drop, splitting hairs either way could say whether the turn was or was not "part of the lift hill". -

You know, Ive said it before, and I will say it again and again regardless of whether or not they get their thick heads out of their...... this industry makes me laugh sometimes. They rag about the thoosies being curious and wanting to get some "exclusive" news, and yet they do things like this. I understand them not wanting people trespassing... I really do... but at this point Stevie Wonder can see that there is an RMC rework of MS going on so why not let people watch the webcams for entertainment like the powers that be at KI are being gracious enough to do? I enjoy things like this from an engineering/architectural/construction standpoint and would actually enjoy watching the progress of the revision. Whatever, just had to get that off my chest. -

If the park does a water ride, they need to do THIS ONE! River Battle is an absolute riot! -

I wonder how many savvy members of the Military and/or senior citizens are going to...rightfully I might add... ask to buy their $5 tickets? Aspiring writers and members of the Media, remember, its all in the wording. -

Two things..... The Lightning Rod saga will equal no launch on the MS lift, and it will open in 2018. -
Every single word of relocation I have heard in the past 3 years point to Charlotte, not Mason.

Pretty simple, Chris, read the whole statement. Any Whip they WOULD approve, would be so "litigation safe" it would be a shame to even call it a whip. Much like, as I mentioned, KIs Dodge Ems. I dont blame them one bit for playing that game, and I truly understand WHY they do, but its just a shame to have to build rides that are a shadow of the originals. See what Im getting at?
-
CFs Legal team would laugh at the suggestion of a whip, and any one they WOULD approve, would be almost as exciting as the Dodge Ems.

Exactly that! This Kings park did the "downgrade" first, and as someone who has ridden Delirium at KD, I can and will say the Mondial version is a whole lot better. Though not as tall, it spins and swings MUCH faster, and really has some great laterals. I admit I was cheesed off when I head they were dropping Shockwave, and yes I would have liked to see it stay, but facts are facts. In regards to BLSC, in this hypothetical case, if it were removed Id enjoy seeing them either A)build onto the existing enclosure and create a large and immersive dark ride or B)install a well landscaped (yeah yeah, I know, thats a pipe dream with CF) area with three classic flats like purdude said including a tilt-a-whirl, tea cups that can be independently spun by the rider, and one other.

Cedar Point workers on Strike
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoasterOhio's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They will, two days is easy to makeup, to be honest. They will A)Work one weekend or B)work one week of 5 10s (if they are working 8s) or 5 12s (If they are working 10s). The latter is more likely than the former, because Contractors tend to frown heavily on paying their employees premium time on weekends, since the full day Saturday is 1.5 time and Sundays are double time. -
Cedar Point workers on Strike
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoasterOhio's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If a construction company is non Union, and there is a Union picket anywhere on the property, 99.9% of said jobsites or companies have whats called a 2 Gate system if at all possible. For instance, if striking workers are picketing by the Hotel Breakers gate, then the workers for the non Union company will be instructed to enter and leave through the Marina gate or the Main entrance gate. Thats just an example, and in a case such as this, odds are the Union employees wouldnt demand a 2 Gate since RMC is a subcontractor, and the Union employees beef isnt with them. A scab title is put on a "less than desirable" (cleaned up for what I normally call them) that the rat company hires in to replace the striking workers until said strike is settled. If I were on a line supporting a striking Trade, and the RMC employees came in, Id not hassle them a bit, since its not their fight and they dont have a dog in it. This tends to change quickly and drastically on a full on construction site where the customer/project owner hires both Union and non Union subcontractors to work on the same project. THAT, is when you can bet your butt a 2 Gate system is put into place, more often than not with even 2 separate parking areas if at all possible. -

D-amn right we honor other Trades lines. When I was in the IBEW and pulled up to a jobsite that another Trade had a line set up, I parked, called the Foreman or GF for my Contractor and said Im at the gate, not coming in. Even though most all Locals in the IBEW operate under CIR (No strike clause) you can bet we honor all other Trades lines. Furthermore, any "journalism" in the Sandusky Rag will almost always and certainly be written in a manner that will shine a light on Cedar Point, much like the GOCC FB page is right now. They know what side their bread is buttered on, and wont rattle that dogs cage, I can promise you that. -
Custom Coasters International

@McSalsa.... the best way I can describe HH in its current state is, I call it a "construction coaster" because it jackhammers at the bottom of the drops like you wouldnt believe. Im talking Voyage in 2011 type jackhammering. -
In reference to yesterdays comment regarding the construction fence/wall, it has indeed been removed,as can be seen utilizing the Diamondback webcam.

Big Dipper ( Geauga Lake ) to get the Axe.
IBEW_Sparky replied to Tr0y's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
@KIBeast.... I agree with you, and while Ouimet hasnt done what I was honestly expecting/hoping he was going to do (more Disney influences and employee training/guest relations improvement), words cannot describe how much more I like him than DK. Of course, they could have made a sweep the new CEO, and I would like him/her more than DK. On another note, those photos... while incredibly sad to me.... at least provide a finality and closure to the entire sad saga. -

IBEW_Sparky replied to Tr0y's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And, as has been said numerous times here by individual(s) quite knowledgeable in the facts of ride relocation/recreation, it CAN not and WILL not be the same ride, no matter where it would be installed in the US. If that ride were built in any US park today, in compliance with current safety regulations, it would be as much the Big Dipper as Banshee is. The things that made that ride good, buzz bars being one of them, would not exist on any recreation. Had DK not been a jerk (My opinion, no one will ever change it so dont try), that ride could/would have been relocated in its existing form someplace like Valleyfair as Terp mentioned, or WoF where I wanted it. As much as I Love the history of the ride, and wish the non-Dick move would have been made back when it could have, the unfortunate reality is that its better off being dismantled at this point. -
Would you like to see B&M redesign Firehawk?
IBEW_Sparky replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
^ Absolutely, positively not. There is no chance CedarFair would spend millions to turn one one trick pony into another. -
This is why they need to get their stuff together and barcode the drink cups to correlate to someones pass, and for those who dont have a pass, then give them a card/receipt at time of purchase with a bar code matching the one on the cup. If a cup is brought to be refilled with a non-matching barcode or no barcode at all, no refill. Lose the receipt, sorry, Charlie, no refill. They arent that hard to keep track of if placed in a wallet.
