  1. I just cat wait to read all of the whiny posts on their FB page.... or rather hear about them since I dont read KIs FB page..... about "You guys suck, it was supposed to have a drop track" or "What a ripoff, Wiki said there was going to be a corkscrew inversion inside the shed".
  2. Oh.... really? Huh....https://www.worldsoffun.com/things-to-do/special-events Spoiler alert for those who dont wish to click the link: Season passholder exclusive: 2017 Sneak Peek, THURSDAY April 13th, 2017. Anyway, in regards to KI 2017 discussion, I feel that the parks plans in regards to how they are going to play Media Day and/or the early rider charity event will determine whether or not they hold a preview night at this park in 2017. If they do one or both on Friday, I think that could be a factor in only those people ride before official Opening Day, although one or both of those events could be held on Thursday. All of that aside, I am going for a Saturday, April 15th opening as I said two posts ago.
  3. They will very likely correlate it with Worlds of Fun opening day/weekend, as they have for at least the past 5 years. With that being the case, plan for a preview night on Friday, April 14th (which is WoF actual opening day) and an opening day of Saturday, April 15th. I am rather puzzled as to why WoF is opening on a Friday, with preview night on a Thursday, but I digress.
  4. Brad, as a fan of the parkI know you wont want to hear this, but I also know that you understand business logic enough to realize what Im about to say is true. They will have an interim CEO at Indiana Beach for 2017 while maintaining the park just enough to keep it legal, so they can concentrate on promoting an existing Corporate Executive to CFO of Apex, or recruiting and hiring someone from the outside. This will allow them to shop the park while its in operation next year, and since I very honestly dont see any other big player being in a position or having the desire to overtake that park in that location, I am laying odds that 2017 will be it. Now, this is one of the times I actually hope my logic is flawed and I am incorrect, but the parks uphill battle has become more of a mountain climb with nothing but a pair of tennis shoes.
  5. No, just... no! Fix whats screwed up royally at the 11 parks they currently own, and leave the others alone. We,the park going public, already have enough (too many) cookie cutter Corporate parks, leave the smaller parks (Indiana Beach and Adventureland come to mind) for those who cant, or wont, pay $9 for a subpar burger or pay-to-cut upcharges. People seem to forget that competition can be a very good thing. An example of how it can be good AND bad together, is the "my lift hill is bigger than your lift hill" contest that went on between CP and SF:WoA. That created mass expansion on both ends, but also gross financial over-extention on both ends as well. One was in a position to survive, one was not. However, if all of the small parks are overtaken (and in my eyes, slowly destroyed) by the CFs and the SIXs of the US, all that will happen is a rise in price point to that of Disney levels, without the corresponding rise in guest service and experience. The Corporations have to recoup the cost of park acquisitions somehow, and as you pointed out in the case of Dorney, it will be at the expense of those smaller parks... and the guests that visit them.... getting nothing in return.
  6. Something else of interest to me was this...."We want people to come to our parks not to ride rides, but to think of them as the place to be to have fun"... maybe that means we will start seeing more of what Ive been wanting and expecting out of Ouimet since he took over, and thats a park experience more along the lines of Disney, both in atmosphere and employee training/service.
  7. At that point, I go for the rides I enjoy, or walk away entirely and devote more time to racing. Im good with either. Sparky, not a money grab... er I mean upcharge kind of guy.
  8. You know what?? They can build 50 of the VR style rides, maybe that will attract the "cant get their heads out of their phones for 20 seconds" age demographic and will reduce the wait times on real rides for people like me! Im 110% for that.
  9. Old news, bud, post #372. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30707-disney-world-updates/page-13
  10. Its official, Spaceship Earth to become Death Star, temporarily, for now...http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/theme-park-rangers-blog/os-disney-epcot-spaceship-earth-death-star-20161202-story.html
  11. I think Banshee would be 2nd after Raptor, then probably Gatekeeper, followed by that weak Valravn, with DB 5th and the still painful Rougarou in 6th. As far as my vote, I would vote Banshee as the best of these 6.
  12. SWEET! I Love Calypsos, and now I wont have to drive to Sandusky to ride one Im also happy they aren't screwing up Voyage by reconfiguring the layout in any way (which I was very much in fear of after the Legend stunt they pulled last year) and just just doing the typical re-tracking.
  13. Reports from Valley Forge Inn state it started raining around 10 minutes ago.
  14. Exactly that! Maverick, while a fun ride, was a turd with its original restraints. Vortex is, and always will be, a turd because of having to have a "special way to ride it". SOB fit that same bill. If I CHOOSE to ride a ride in a certain seat or row because one gives different forces or feelings than the other, fine. If I HAVE to ride a ride in 1-1 ONLY to not get the Hell beat out of me (SOB), then there is something wrong with the ride from the start. See also, Rougarou.
  15. In a broad matter of speaking, it could be construed that way. While the lift had already peaked by the time it made its curve around to the drop, splitting hairs either way could say whether the turn was or was not "part of the lift hill".
  16. You know, Ive said it before, and I will say it again and again regardless of whether or not they get their thick heads out of their...... this industry makes me laugh sometimes. They rag about the thoosies being curious and wanting to get some "exclusive" news, and yet they do things like this. I understand them not wanting people trespassing... I really do... but at this point Stevie Wonder can see that there is an RMC rework of MS going on so why not let people watch the webcams for entertainment like the powers that be at KI are being gracious enough to do? I enjoy things like this from an engineering/architectural/construction standpoint and would actually enjoy watching the progress of the revision. Whatever, just had to get that off my chest.
  17. If the park does a water ride, they need to do THIS ONE! River Battle is an absolute riot!
  18. I wonder how many savvy members of the Military and/or senior citizens are going to...rightfully I might add... ask to buy their $5 tickets? Aspiring writers and members of the Media, remember, its all in the wording.
  19. Two things..... The Lightning Rod saga will equal no launch on the MS lift, and it will open in 2018.
  20. Every single word of relocation I have heard in the past 3 years point to Charlotte, not Mason.
  21. Pretty simple, Chris, read the whole statement. Any Whip they WOULD approve, would be so "litigation safe" it would be a shame to even call it a whip. Much like, as I mentioned, KIs Dodge Ems. I dont blame them one bit for playing that game, and I truly understand WHY they do, but its just a shame to have to build rides that are a shadow of the originals. See what Im getting at?
  22. CFs Legal team would laugh at the suggestion of a whip, and any one they WOULD approve, would be almost as exciting as the Dodge Ems.
  23. Exactly that! This Kings park did the "downgrade" first, and as someone who has ridden Delirium at KD, I can and will say the Mondial version is a whole lot better. Though not as tall, it spins and swings MUCH faster, and really has some great laterals. I admit I was cheesed off when I head they were dropping Shockwave, and yes I would have liked to see it stay, but facts are facts. In regards to BLSC, in this hypothetical case, if it were removed Id enjoy seeing them either A)build onto the existing enclosure and create a large and immersive dark ride or B)install a well landscaped (yeah yeah, I know, thats a pipe dream with CF) area with three classic flats like purdude said including a tilt-a-whirl, tea cups that can be independently spun by the rider, and one other.
