  1. So this sign is gonna pop up on rides like Maverick, TTD and Millennium Force, right?
  2. Quick last minute question- how long should I give myself to get through Dayton rush hour tomorrow? I should be coming through at about 7:30 am. I need to time this trip out as I'm planning on stopping in Toledo around 9-9:30 am to drop off the bad dash panel I got for my Hyundai and its on the way to Sandusky.
  3. My ongoing war with the mayflies continues tomorrow. Hopefully there aren't swarms adorning SV with all that structure for them to hang out....
  4. ^Or just keep my phone in cargo shorts. I mean, I'll suck it up and get a locker when I go Monday (I don't suspect I'll re-ride it much if the waits are as long as I'm hearing), but it seems wildly inconsistent to do so on just SV when several CP rides fall into the category of ones likely to end up losing a loose phone. My phone has stayed in my cargo shorts just fine on rides on par with SV.
  5. I was about to say, I can think of quite a few rides where it'd be plausible to implement that course of action as well.
  6. In my case, all my ICE numbers are on my phone and my health can take a nose dive in the blink of an eye on a whim.
  7. Six Flags Great Adventure uses this policy for El Toro, Kingda Ka, and Joker. The ops at the line entrance would have you both show your pockets to them and if you have cargo shorts, have you pat yourself down. They were actually quite effective in spotting phones, I have to admit. SIX does $1 lockers near all those rides as well.
  8. Just to add to that- the entire tri-state area (pretty much the I-275 loop and a couple counties outside that) is under a tornado watch until 9 pm and a flash flood watch until midnight.
  9. ^If memory serves, KD closed theirs down for that conversion right before Cedar Fair purchased the Paramount Parks, then they returned it to running as it has been originally. I also recall a rumor that Paramount was in the works of doing a ride rotation program similar to what SIX did that started with Stealth moving to Carowinds and included either KD's or KI's Flight of Fear and Hypersonic XLC.
  10. I may luck out with crowds the day I go- there's a decent chance of rain the day I'm going, but not all day.
  11. Do SV lines adhere to any sort of pattern where it may get slightly shorter lines during certain parts of the day or is it always long with it being the new coaster?
  12. Is this S&S trying to bring the ArrowBATic concept to life on steroids? I had no idea S&S was ever involved with something like this with their focus on their 4Ds and variants thereof. Also, I consider UPitt to be the bigger evil in Pittsburgh.
  13. So the only ride review I'll be doing is Steel Vengeance for my venture to CP. I also realized in writing all those that its hard to come up with different words to use when describing 30+ coasters in such a short amount of time. I'll have to brush up on my vocabulary.
  14. I thought it was a bit ill conceived to add it at the bottom of the staircase like they did below the station. At least have it after a longer path so the people thin out a bit before entering. Its one of the worst bottleneck points in the park, especially with Banshee's mass capacity.
  15. If KI gets a mouse, hopefully they operate it with continuous motion instead of the stacked cars that CF is known for.
  16. I have to say this season, Racer is running the best it has been in years. It also constantly leads the park in rider count, so its still doing something right even though the GP isn't exactly thrilled with it anymore. If it had the trims taken off on the turn arounds, it'd be an airtime monster on the return run. I've encountered bits bordering on ejector air on it this season. Now if we could only get the park to repaint it and get the trains to sync better on the lift hills.
  17. I've ridden quite a few mine train style coasters from Arrow and Vekoma, and I consider Adventure Express to be the best one I've ridden, even over BTMR at Disney.
  18. Remember last August when (almost) all the CF parks did announcements on the same day (including CP and KBF which never happened before then) and KI was the elephant park in the room that didn't make any? Even the smaller parks like Dorney and MIA announced their Pre-K plan that day. KI easily could have done the Coney BBQ announcement then. TBH, I didn't feel they were that excited for this season, especially in their under the radar announcement of Coney BBQ, and that showed in the GP reactions. I know a lot of season pass holders that skipped this season.
  19. No sort of news about the park anywhere. Also, not only is there no link to the webcams, but the page has been disabled as well if you type in the web address.
  20. This is prior to me riding Steel Vengeance, so that may very well be in this category for me in a few weeks. For the time being though, my favorite wooden coaster and overall in the state of Ohio is Beast and my favorite steel coaster is Magnum XL-200. Mystic Timbers is the only other woodie that would be up there with Beast, and for steel, Millennium Force, Banshee, Diamondback, Maverick and Rougarou would be in the running as well.
  21. - How much do trends within the industry play apart of what and when the park decides to add new attractions? - Does the park use any sort of guest survey or any other sort of sociological and/or psychological analytics when coming up with plans for the park? - Do parks and design firms (GCI, B&M, HUSS, etc) ever have to tinker with plans about rides from being too intense and/or too tame? Examples? - What kind of focus on Soak City can we expect in the near/further future? - Plans involving Timberwolf in the future? - What kinds of shows are considered for the park, particularly with the revolving circulation of shows in KI Theater?
  22. So what kind of waits am I looking at for this thing on weekdays? How is the downtime on it?
  23. I've noticed the ripple effect from this incident. Every park I've been to since this have been a lot more gung ho on preventing riders from having phones out.
