In the industry, not necessarily a "record breaker." However, it is consistently in the rankings as a favorite ride throughout the country by enthusiasts. I'm with you, I want KI to be as good as possible, but they can't do it so quickly. Think of one of Carowinds current teasers: Rome Wasn't Built In A Day. Cedar Fair as a whole wasn't built in a day. Look back to one of my earlier replies, Cedar Fair is constantly putting capital into parks, in the form of re-vamping areas, new coasters, attractions, etc. across the park portfolio. Imagine if all Cedar Fair did, was put coasters in. 1) The park would run out of useable room, 2) The park would be over-capitalized, 3) Guests would easily get frustrated at the lack of anything else to do, 4) Parks would stop being "family friendly" 5) Loss of attendance with the younger and older crowds. Taking a season off to add a family ride/small thrill ride or revamping an area or making general park improvements is not a bad thing but is much needed. It helps KI to be as good as possible. With things being upgraded/repaired/revamped every so often, makes the atmosphere of the park much better. Small improvements, family rides, small thrill rides will bring in more people who don't necessarily enjoy roller coasters or prefer milder experiences, bringing in more $ for improvements such as a new roller coaster. Like I said, I'm with you, just be patient . Who knows, for 2016 we could be getting the first dueling S&S Arrow 4D coaster!

I guess I don't get how it's distracting. Distracting of what? The ride experience at the end of the ride? I'm just thankful that they are improving opportunities for the park.

They are already in financial disaster, do you know how much they are in debt? Alot. They weren't very smart with their money. Yes, they are in debt, financial disaster? No. If they were in financial disaster, they'd be selling off all but a few parks or the parks would be going into foreclosure. They may have taken on too much when they acquired Paramount Parks, but it was either all or none. They saw the potential for growth both in portfolio and in finances (yes even some loss helps gain). Only one at Kings Island? Diamondback (1), Banshee (2). You have seemed to miss the point that CP is part of the flagship, of course they're going to have major record breakers. Since Cedar Fair has acquired Paramount Parks, Cedar Point has gotten how many record breakers? 2006 Skyhawk (world's largest swinging thrill ride), 2007 Maverick and in 2013 Gatekeeper. So they're only 1 record breaker ahead of Kings Island. But remember just because a ride is a record breaker, doesn't mean that it's the best for a park. Those that push the limit also push the strain on operations. Maverick, how late did it open compared to it's scheduled opening day? I agree with you, there can be more added to the park, but to imply that they really don't care to add much to Kings Island isn't correct. Be thankful that they've done so much around the park when a major ride isn't added.

2010, walking back to Diamondback through Planet Snoopy on my way to work, I heard the Kids Bop version of "Puff The Magic Dragon." Too much!

I'll let Terpy answer the space comments. I'm curious to what you mean by World Class Rides? My definition, spectacular one of a kind ride experiences that operated as intended more than one season. Son of Beast and Tomb Raider: The Rider are no longer in existence, they tested the limits and failed. While they both were great rides when operating truly as they were intended, they didn't last that way. The park got Italian Job: Stunt Coaster, but like Tomb Raider: The Ride, Paramount carelessly forgot to maintain the theming that made the rides "world class rides." I don't believe Paramount would have invested in the park as Cedar Fair has. Also, realize during Paramount's reign at Kings Island, they weren't participating in the "coaster wars." They weren't trying to really break on the scene, but focused on each park, a little at a time. Whereas, Cedar Fair is constantly putting capital into parks, in the form of re-vamping areas, new coasters, attractions, etc. across the park portfolio. While Cedar Point and Valleyfair are the "Flagship" parks of Cedar Fair, the corporation is constantly putting capital in other parks. Each park can't get a new coaster every year. That's recipe for financial disaster.

How to ride Magnum XL 200
Creed Bratton replied to dragsterguy21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
All I know of, is that the ride got a new Control Booth...not sure about the B&M overhaul. Edit: A member of the maintenance team is the source to this info through Coaster Crew. -
My issue wasn't with her having them in the park it was with her wearing them on the ride... Luckily they landed at my feet and didn't hit me or my kid in my face. Some people can wear glasses or sunglasses without them falling off due to them being fitted. They may have come loose on the ride when they hadn't on any other ride previously. I do feel for you, I think it sucks she didn't say Thank You.

Skyhawk accident @ CP
Creed Bratton replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One treated and released at the scene (not a broken leg) and as a precaution, the other was transported to a local hospital for evaluation (nothing serious if just an evaluation and an evaluation wouldn't be a broken leg either). I guess you didn't understand what I was trying to say. I mean, I get with HIPPA laws, they can't disclose the extend of injuries, but these "reputable" news sources saying there was a broken leg and another serious injury without having anything to support it (like a phone call to the local hospital where said victim was taken, saying the patient is in ___ condition like they do with car accidents), is insane. Most of the things I've read from the news sites are saying "eye witness accounts say one male victim has a broke leg from the accident. The witness was standing in front of the ride watching it operate." Or something very very similar. Speculation has gotten way out of control with "news sources" and reporters have gotten lazy when it comes to researching the facts. -

I love how I'm still reading reports that a man broke a leg and another was really injured. But per the park: http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2014/07/witness_to_skyhawk_accident_at.html -
Canada's Wonderland has Boo Blasters On Boo Hill as well as a new interactive dark ride.

Thunderbird has launched!
Creed Bratton replied to APE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The only "issue" I have with this addition, it seems like the queue and path are way out of the way from anything else. Judging just by renderings. -
According to the customer service worker Shake Rattle and Roll is only gone temporarily and is waiting for a part. They didn't say what kind of part though. Welcome to KIC!! That customer service worker may or may not know the truth. Just saying

It could be moved. Look at the pitching game in Coney. I have rarely seen anyone play over there, maybe move it there.

Correct. It's for the safety of the guests. Wristbands are used to verify riders are able to ride the rides they can. I don't know of an instance where the wrong wrist band has been given, but I can assume, parents may have placed tissues in their children's feet, etc to later take them out. I hope it's not the case. However, by the State of Ohio, park guests must follow ride operator instructions, including checking for height whether it be the first time or the 2nd or the 3rd. It stinks, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Michigan's Adventure
Creed Bratton replied to MarkB.'s topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
http://www.shewired.com/outrageous/2014/07/23/michigan-water-park-lesbian-mens-trunks-maam-you-have-wear-womens-bathing-suit Interesting incident. Being of someone who identifies under LGBT, I hate that she is using the reason she got singled out was because she was a lesbian. It kind of irritates me in all honesty, but people will give any reason as to why they are targeted. But to support this woman, MA's website does not say anything about gender specific bathing suits. Also, there isn't anything that says a sports bra is not allowed, but the site does say no athletic wear....so, maybe that includes a sports bra, but maybe not. There's not a line really that draws the basis. The woman shows what she wore into the waterpark, which included swimming trunks for men, a tank top and a sports bra. The sports bra was under the tank top. So what would it really matter? At least she was wearing one. Hmmm. -

I believe Mr. Dan Koch will be ending his evening at Alabama Splash Adventure. Probably checking on the status of Rampage or planning new attractions for his park for 2015. -

With Shake Rattle & Roll currently down, possibly out the door for good (I'm no way saying that I think it's going to leave for good, just putting out the possibility), I am thinking that since KI just added a big thrill ride, that next year they may focus on the family. What Shake Rattle and Roll left, but Eagles or another classic flat ride was added into that space, Surf Dog moved from Planet Snoopy (replaced by a new kids ride) and something takes over the 3 point challenge? Much like how Cedar Point and Valley Fair re-did a midway for families. I could imagine Surf Dog crossing over Backlot Stunt Coaster's entrance plaza and behind the Rivertown bathrooms.
