Dont forget that when the ride was originally intended to be linked up with the show "The Outer Limits" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djHzt6MqrXY Similar to the beginning of the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCcdr4O-3gE Plus I always assumed the video was to intend that the aliens/weirdness put someone into a time warp....

More FUNtv's being installed at Kings Island
shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
KI is not a theme park though. It hasnt been for a while. It is even listed as the Largest Amusement and Water Park on their website. So we can lament the lack of theming, but KI is not Universal or Disney. As for the Fun TVs it would be nice to see some "local Programming" aka maybe a live studio feed. Hourly or so live hits from somewhere in the park. A live KI game show on stage that is broadcast through out the park.... Maybe I should throw a resume at CF for Fun TV programmer....- 42 replies

I feel for your daughter. Drop Tower is a ride as a grown adult I only conquer once every few years....

Carowinds' Thunder Road to race no more
shark6495 replied to jsus's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well the picture McSalsa threw up there does show that the ride does not trully run on the state border as it once was said to do.... Sad day for a coaster for sure... Here are some quick positives for the KID wooden coasters though.... Racer already has three spots where the structure was changed to allow people to walk under it (FoF area, old Days of Thunder theater, and the Dino's Alive area), so if future park expansion were to happen over there, at least the coaster would appear to be saved.... As for The Beast, it uses terrain that would cost a pretty penny to level and then use. Woodstock Express, maybe might be in the way of a future expansion.... So at least the rides wouldnt be torn down because of expansion.... I wonder if the results of the rebuild were not what was wanted by the company and then this decision to go forth with future plans was the back up plan... -
Was Days of Thunder and the Bond movie version unique to Paramount parks? What about the Stan Lee version? Just wondering if the uniqueness of the Paramount movies would make them much more interesting...

Well actually... in taste tests (taste tests are small sips not whole drinks) the human brain releases more dopamine. The thing that releases the most dopamine is perceived as having a better taste. Many Sweet Wines have won blind and double blind taste tests. Its the same reason if you taste something at the store it tastes different than when you get it home and eat more than a taste. I wrote another big long winded response, but just stopped caring midway through it. Believe what you want about people following the herd.... Frisch's switch to Pepsi was big shift for many people...

Pepsi (and sweet wines) almost always win taste tests. Our brains are wired to enjoy the sweeter taste better than anything else. So in a taste test (usually not whole cans or bottles) the sweeter will always win.... Pepsi is sweeter than Coke.

Couldnt have said it better... I would even think that to be competitive, you have to consider your same chain as competition. I know when my dad ran restaurants, he wasnt concerned with how the other 5 same restaurants in a 10 mile radius were doing. He was concerned on how to make his store bigger and better. His District manager cared more about that. When he became a DM he was concerned about all 20 of his restaurants and how to make them better than the next district's stores... So I could totally see KI management seeing CP as competition. You want them to do well, but you want to pull people to see you. So you make sure you are XYZ better than they are, etc..... KK not actively poking the bear of KI and CF is a problem for them, not the other way around...

We put the daylight led lights in my basement. I love them.

I would guess very few even remember/know about the park. Even fewer know that it is open.

Things you first experienced at Kings Island
shark6495 replied to Magenta Lizard's topic in Kings Island
I remember the traffic going home. I always managed to stay awake long enough to make it to the RR/75 interchange before falling asleep on the way home.... also the "gum trees" on the way to WWC -
I miss the style of the pads underneath the flats. Made it look unique versus hard gray concrete...

KCKC always smelled like weed. I still remember that... -
Which makes sense but it sucks... It may be a light day when a kid conquers The Beast for the first time...

People have mentioned the young children and the long walk. I have a 2 year old and the walk from the drop off area to the front of the park is a long haul for him. It will still be a long haul for him when he is 5 or 6. My mom will be 60 soon. She goes to the park. She doesnt have a handicap sticker unless my dad goes with her. Thats a long haul for her on hot days or if we have to park farther out. Soon, she will have to either get a handicap sticker for herself (or borrow dad's) or stop coming to the park with us all of the time. The walk doesnt seem that bad when you are young and in shape. But as you age it becomes more of a problem. In the park, there are a few places to sit in the shade. In the parking lot, there is none. I do have hopes for a tram return though. Even though things have been repaved and re-lined there still appears to be enough room on the sidewalk and tram right of ways....

Took the words out of my mouth.. er fingers.... Would be nice but your have to add hills back in and remove a set of cars from each train. The Beast is way different than it used to be. Only used to be a buz bar with no padding and head rest and skid breaks. If you went on a day that it rained you used to get a wild ride. Today I don't see that happening. The Skid brakes were a wonderful time for coasters. I didnt know the track was oiled.... Now why did the cars go from soft foam to the hard foam... I just assumed it was age not on purpose..... (Shark, old enough to remember softer foam, skid brakes, and maybe no seat dividers on The Beast but never remembers a time without individual ratcheting lap bars (I think)...)

Conveniently you have two (yup two) Muskies on this board. And as Muskies we have been there as its a part of the great Muskie way... Yes I have been there. It is really a unique experience to drive through an animal preserve and to be sometimes very very close to the animals. The wife and I are planning a trip for the fall or next spring to do a night there in one of their cabins. Its amazing that this is located in the middle of Ohio....

As demonstrated, a very slight modification to the quote you heard applies to me as well. And going back to the Mantis discussion... I consider Rougarou to be the same coaster... Because the coaster itself is, physically speaking, the same track and structure, just with new trains (which, as it happens, make the experience different.). There are TOGO coasters in other countries that operate one sit-down and one standup train on the same track, it doesn't become a new coaster every time they dispatch a train. Steel Phantom, The (old) Texas Giant, Rattler, etc, are no longer around because they received substantial changes to the ride structure and layout. AND to the trains, actually (still sit-down trains, but I don't think anyone will argue that a relatively loose lapbar makes for a totally different ride than an Arrow OTSR). That said, it's just enthusiast squabbling at this point. No matter how you slice it, the changes that were made to Mantis make for a totally new EXPERIENCE whether you consider it to be the same coaster or not. And the experience is, in this writer's opinion, a dramatic improvement. Playing devil's advocate.... if a ride is cloned in a new space but has a different name but everything else is the same... is it the same coaster? Or if the ride moves?

Battle for Metropolis POV

The only thing I don't like is the 3-d aspect. I wear glasses. Sometimes 3-d glasses do no work very well with me. Not to mention that not all family members want to or can wear 3-d glasses. -
Fixed your order... You must have had a mental slip...

Which makes me wonder are they rented or did they pay for them? If they are rented, I assume there is some sort of maintenance they have to perform to keep them in good shape.

That sounds like it would be really fun though..

If I'm not the target market(two four year olds), then who is? We as in the general we. We the coaster enthusiasts. We who are a bit older. In what you quoted I even said kids under 10 appear to be the target market
