^They eliminated the QA/QC department since this site does it for free

It was a lightning strike ... #whoops double post!

Actually there are six in the world....well eight if you are strictly going over 300 feet...but currently six complete circuit giga coasters in the world...

Actually the strobe on Drop Tower hasn't been operational since June 15th....

No problem, this forum doubles as an educational site to learn from senior members and those in the industry...just think you have been learning all summer while out of school!

You obviously have not had to cost out steel... Steel in 2014 (when Fury track would have been made) was $650 per ton and is currently going around $830 per ton...had Fury been announced for 2016 and thus track would have been built in 2015 it would have been $460/ton...just think it may have been Fury386 then! Moral of story - steel prices adjust substantially year to year based on supply/demand...

Cause they couldn't go to everyone they sent to and put tape over something
  8. Well 7 Cedar Fair parks have had a Halloween Cirque show called Skeleton Crew that have had long successful runs at 6 of these parks except Kings Island...ours lasted one year before Hot Blooded returned... Fun fact, a couple of the performers in our show where in our version of Cirque Imagine... And because someone will ask, Skeleton Crew is put on by the same group that has done our Cirque shows... Because someone always races to be the first to create a thread about something, which is why we have Winterfest 2019 Thread somewhere and a 2020 ride prediction thread somewhere too LOL... Surprised it took until January for the Haunt 2019 thread to start TBH

One wonders if a smaller than anticipated signature count will be taken into consideration for future costs of rides...or how much teasing for future rides...
  11. I do wonder how many people that say they would like an RMC Beast or Timbers or this or that other coaster have actually been on an RMC coaster! Without saying too much, I do suspect future RMC projects that take place on existing coasters will not introduce all the elements like we have seen them add to existing coasters...so a Beast RMC'd would essentially be the same layout and configuration on a different style track... Now a ground up RMC on the other hand would bring in the elements people expect/want to see on an RMC...
  12. Blue is giving red a head start since blue is faster as evidenced by the higher g-forces than red
  13. I took this picture early June but forgot to post it, but yes it is a very basic pre-order process and I saw nobody use it...

The teaser tagline if they tie it to Apollo 11: That's one small giga for a coaster enthusiast, one giant giga for Kings Island!

Just keeping in the "reading too much into it" spirit of what most do in this thread lol
  16. disco2000 replied to fryoj's topic in Kings Island
Nah..another entity has the NASA/Apollo IP license Plus Apollo 11 was groundbreaking with lots of firsts...this coaster not so much....so why would the park want to risk that contradiction to ruin the announcement... Our coaster isn't the Moonshot as the drop is a larger distance than the lift distance
  17. Once you are in the park during Haunt evenings at KI, no re-rentry is allowed after 7pm whether you have a pass or a hand stamp...
  18. Your first sentence is not entirely accurate and is misleading, plus leaving and returning is different than unlimited visits... Keep in mind this isn't consistent across the chain - a few CF parks you need to use the receipt for parking and get your hand stamped if you expect to re-enter as the pass will scan invalid if tried a second time...and up until a few years ago KI was the same way... And keep in mind at Haunt re-entry isn't allowed at KI but is at a few other CF parks, which invalidates your first sentence... Now I realize the original poster didn't ask that, but the further clarification was needed in case they use the platinum pass at other parks or make a return visit to KI for Haunt...

On the contrary, if we are as you say the internet's leading KI fan site, we have an obligation when teaching moments arise to educate the general public on what is acceptable and not acceptable. Let's face it, I suspect more people read this forum than they do any sign in front of a ride or the information on a paper map or in the app. Unfortunately, most are ignorant of park policies until they violate one and someone says something. If someone is reading this forum and sees a post from a moderator that says a POV was removed because it is illegal under Ohio Revised Code 1711.551, MAYBE, just MAYBE it may prevent someone from doing the same. Maybe the person they prevented doing so happens to have slippery hands and would have been in front of you on your next ride at the park. Look at the ice cream licking that has gone viral and all the copycats. If we can play our small part to prevent copycats from doing POVs and drones being flown over while the park is in operation, we may just save a life in the process. Let's face it, if drone videos keep popping up and even if they were done legally as many on here are claiming, eventually someone will do something stupid and will fly a drone during park operating hours and try to get that really cool shot of a train cresting Diamondback and be too close and hit the train and cause serious injuries. There are enough people out there looking for their 15 minutes of fame... If we, as a fan site, inform our readers that it is against park policy to fly a drone over the park, maybe it prevents the naïve young teen from taking their cool toy in trying to get that cool video... Most of us probably are not worried about the person that is responsible and professional and will fly the drone in accordance to all applicable laws and regulations, it is the person that is ignorant to these same laws and regulations that are the concern. The park policy was probably developed with that person in mind. Let's hope it doesn't take a catastrophe at an amusement park with a drone to cause the FAA to ban the airspace...but that is where we as a society are heading... Heck, even in clearly restricted FAA airspace people are already doing it (Google near misses and drones hitting planes and drones in restricted airspace), so it is only a matter of time before it happens at an amusement park...

I agree, but I have mentioned before in other threads regarding POVs, most of these people that post these POVs do so under their real name and it would be real easy for the parks to revoke their pass or forbid entry into the park again...and until that happens and people realize their is a price for violating policy, it will continue...hopefully the recent policy if the ride op sees a phone out and they call security and they get ejected will have an impact, but their is more the park can do to hold violators accountable. Plus sitting at home watching people make these POVs, we could also flag the videos as illegal and hope YouTube and other sites would take them down, but I think that should be an issue that CF as a large corporation would have better leverage to make happen...

We have to worry about said others when they are being jerks in front of you on a ride with their phone out and it gets loose and hits you or a loved one in the face. This has happened to members on the forum...

^it makes it less clear actually...so are photos of the blueprints allowed since they haven't been discussed on their social media stuff? What about photos of the construction taking place - that hasn't been mentioned.... The clearer it is tried to be made, the less clear it gets....along with the rising frustration level of the forum members...
  24. they didn't float away as they bounced into cars that were not subjected to the flooding...

The drop off spots were few and far between. A few spots it was shorter to walk to front gate than tram spot. But almost always shorter time to just walk to gate that to wait for tram. Plus, the old tram spots pretty much forced you to walk between cars in the rows to get to your car which is much more dangerous compared to walking at the end of a row until you get to your row...
