  1. Waiting on FDA approval is just another excuse to not get the vaccine because many items over the years have got FDA approval and years later were either retracted or given a black box label after it got out to the masses and in numbers larger than the clinical trials and they got to see the effects... So most people that claim they are waiting on FDA approval, once obtained, will then pull the "well normally it takes years to gain approval so I am going to wait and see the long term effects" excuse or cite that in 1992, Congress passed the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA), which allows the FDA to collect fees from companies to expedite the drug-approval process, so how do we know if it is safe or driven by money.... Using that analogy, that is like saying it is safe to smoke since the "FDA regulates the manufacture, import, packaging, labeling, advertising, promotion, sale, and distribution of cigarettes, including components, parts, and accessories"? But don't worry, the FDA also says "If you have experienced an unexpected health or safety issue with a specific tobacco product, you can report your adverse experience to FDA. Knowledge about adverse experiences can help FDA identify health or safety issues." One takes the vaccine because they trust the science and overall historical success of vaccines, or they don't and give excuse after excuse why they are not going to get it...
  2. Right or wrong, there are lots of articles over the years addressing how the lack of federal oversight of amusement rides means that there is no reporting mechanism for the parks themselves or the ride manufacturers to report injuries or mechanical failures to any organization, so most keep quiet about the number of injuries that happen every year or provide any more details than necessary for any incident. They are in the business of attracting guests, not scaring them away, so of course they are going to downplay any incident. I have in read in the past in some of these investigative reports that infer some parks "wash their hands" of the incident once the person is off their property, so if the person dies 12 days later at the hospital, the park does not count it as a death at the park. Usually only the fatalities or serious life altering injuries are heard of because it makes national headlines. Any injury data about amusement park injuries are simply estimates based on someone doing tracking of hospital visits and logging what brought the person to the hospital. I am not saying that is what is happening here, just mentioning the various investigative reports that happen by national media outlets and others in the wake of a series injury or death that makes national headlines seems to center around the difficulty of being able to obtain any information other that eyewitness accounts or to get firm numbers on deaths and injuries. Right or wrong, the law is in the favor of the park for these types of incidents. Cedar Point as a private entity and not a public agency is exempt from complying with Ohio public open records request laws. Of course the media will claim that the park has to comply via the relationship they stated in that article, and of course the park will claim they are exempt. The media outlet will sue and the attorneys will hash it out. However, if that agreement the media outlet mentions that Cedar Point has with the Sandusky police is true, then the media outlet needs to be requesting that information from the City of Sandusky in accordance with their Open Records Policy. Just because the open records policy exists doesn't mean that every employee and department can just hand out that information - it has to be requested and distributed in accordance to the Open Records Request policy that is required to be established and followed. The name of the injured would have to be obtained by the police report. So is the media outlet investigative reporting that inept that they do not even know how or where to properly file an open records request, or was the article intentional to try to bring negative light to Cedar Point?
  3. 10 min of fame may sound harsh, but that is what social media is grooming people to do....maybe that isn't the case here and it simply was a lapse of judgement, but probably more attention seeking if one saw the report... A true professional (or really anyone for that matter) would have rendered aid because that is the right thing to do without seeking glory or making a big deal about it. But wouldn't you be more indebted if they didn't post the gory details and pictures of said injuries?
  4. If the nurse posting it is true, it probably had more to do with the desire to seem important and a hero and break the story... There are other ways the nurse could have had ensured her report wasn't lost and still be ethical. An investigation is going to be done by many parties and she could provide a copy to each one of those agencies that should have access to that to begin with. Let them be the ones that say "hey we got this report from a guest and it is filled out on your paper so you had it in your possession at one time, yet you didn't provide this to us, why is that?" Then the investigation could start on if they were trying to hide facts to minimize exposure. But to post it on social media, one is usually looking for attention and that is a shame to disregard any oath or ethical requirements as part of that job, even if off duty.
  5. Anything, regardless of how often it is inspected or maintained, can still have a failure. Even a perfectly maintained vehicle or airplane or HVAC unit can and does break-down. Or a roller coaster for that matter. Orion goes down several times a day. Doesn't mean it isn't being maintained.
  6. Or it could be that with a shorter playlist, people tend to move along and not congregate in one location for a length of time. Hearing the same song 4 times will do that LOL.
  7. Cedar Fair did not include WoF as getting Winterfest in their chain-wide 2022 update last week, nor is it showing up as a benefit for the 2022 season pass sale. From the press release: "And as the weather turns colder, WinterFest will return to Carowinds, California’s Great America, Kings Dominion, Canada’s Wonderland and Kings Island."
  8. Especially when it isn't the shortest wait in the park lol
  9. You know you are unloved and the red-headed stepchild when you plan a new ride announcement and corporate beats you to it and announces it to the world as part of a chain-wide update just hours before your big announcement LOL.
  10. I guess if said park paid more for the ride to cover B&M lost profit for X number years would be one way to handle it.
  11. And if there was ever a year they could justify why the price needed to increase...and instead they are basically holding them steady. Sell them cheap and make it up on quantity. Increased crowds every day here we come...no more slow weekdays... Entertainment in the passenger pickup areas will be an added benefit for after hours fun. An all new country music review
  12. When doesn't a headline sensationalize LOL. But, yeah, 4 out of how many thousand that are employed up there? They probably have more quit or get fired or don't show up for work in a day than 4 LOL. Probably one of the reasons why this hasn't gone viral mainstream media (yet anyway). Give it time.
  13. Well KD is giving kids 5 hours of weekday openings the rest of August so that the adults can have September and October weekends LOL.
  14. No Chef's Plate today. It returns August 21st.
  15. And if there was ever a year they could justify why the costs need to go up...and instead they are basically holding them steady. Sell them cheap and make it up on quantity. Increased crowds every day here we come...
  16. KD released their Haunt calendar. Fridays 7pm to midnight Saturdays 2pm to midnight Sundays 2pm to 10pm
  17. A surge of COVID-19 infections in Erie County is being traced back to several places that saw multiple cases recently, including Cedar Point. A year ago this story would be a big deal; now it is just background noise, but I guess this "counts" as being connected to an amusement park...I doubt Cedar Point will see a reduction in attendance as a result of this announcement by the Erie County Health Department.
  18. @King Ding Dong - Rivertown FS is being spruced up for your next visit. It's fit for a King now
  19. +1 on knowing how the interstate numbers are derived LOL.
  20. The media was reporting 6mile lines and taking 7 hours to cross the border.
  21. I guess with the 12-5 hours it is easy to see why a lot of the Planet Snoopy rides are going. Don't worry the mom's will complain on FB that is when their kids nap and wish it was open at 10am. Certainly at those reduced hours it will mostly be passholders, so I do not think the shops will be a hot priority. But things are so out of whack right now, watch them have great attendance for these limited hours and rides days and the Board says "do it chain wide for May and August"
  22. While on Food locations, what was in the location where Chick-Fil-A is and when did they first start serving in the park?
  23. Almost every record breaker CP built was broken a few years later. If your analogy held true, then they would have got rid of a lot of rides. Dragster, Valravyn, Millie, Magnum, Steel Vengeance are just a few examples of coasters that held world records and were broken within a few years... In fact, I do not think they are the current world record holders on any ride at the moment. I think KI has more current world record holders than CP.
  24. What would you suggest to replace it that is local? I doubt Jeff Ruby's would be on the meal plan lol.
