  1. Will a tire driven lift hill suffer from the same problems of tire driven Surf Dog and Viking Fury during the rain?
  2. ^so based on this, it sounds like those that had KI Prestige + and went to CP and got the Prestige benefits like single use front of the line were in error and those that decided to purchase Prestige+ based on experiences others have shared about it working at CP are now "screwed"....I am sure some think that the single use front of the line at parks with Prestige found that to be a useful benefit and reason to purchase. I understand that the TOS indicate benefits and stuff can change and that will be the corporate line when people complain, but it really seems like some of this should be basic stuff that should have been nailed down prior to selling them. Was it that hard to decide before it went live if Prestige+ would allow the one time front of the line pass at any park offering such benefit? Or conditions of other benefits like the exclusive entrance? Clear communication seems to be a struggle with CF... And since the language is still not clear, based on CP language the front of the line, dedicated entrance, and preferred parking for those with Prestige+ for those that purchased at CP are only good there, yet if you purchase Prestige+ at KI the current language still says "+Prestige + Passholder benefits may vary by park. Contact the park you are planning to visit for any questions regarding applicable benefits." and doesn't show the same limitations as the CP site, so does that mean one purchased at KI could give you those benefits at CP as folks have experienced but not the other way around? It really is sounding like they should have made this a season pass add-on instead of a new pass - I think a lot of this would have been clearer and easier that way...then it was either have only one add-on option that only worked at the "home park" OR provide one that extended said benefits to other parks with that program.
  3. ^I agree and is why I said in my post that was attacked that "Haunt is assumed and likely will happen" but the wording in the announcement is vague and does give them an out and wiggle room should they decide to go in a different direction. I was simply pointing this out that it can be interpreted different ways... Winterfest and Grand Carnivale is clear which parks are getting it based on the announcement; Haunt and Trick&Treats are assumed since they didn't specifically mention the parks...but the assumption is probably correct....but it isn't clear to a new or potential customer that may not be aware which parks currently have it. But most of us could have assumed the parks getting Winterfest and Grand Carnvale as well... Why be specific for two of the events and not the Fall events? As you said, anything can happen.
  4. ^I read it that way because they eliminated Haunt at two parks this year....and depending on how Haunt goes from a security standpoint, it is always possible that a park may decide not to continue with it... If all 10 parks were to have both why wouldn't they use AND instead of OR.... And why didn't they specifically mention the 10 parks for Tricks and Treats or Haunt....They specifically announced the parks getting Winterfest... Your wording above is much better and clearer... But as we have seen with the Prestige pass confusion, wording of statements are not their strong suit
  5. It does seem odd that they are deviating a bit from their previous costing model. Could be a couple of different reasons: KI is a more valuable asset than the other parks so they are reflecting that in the pricing. Adjusting to cost of living/cost of doing business variations across the communities they have parks in. They sold too many gold passes to KI and are trying the Disney approach (that failed lol) at raising costs to better control attendance. Some other reason or no reason at all.
  6. Wow...what another great human interest story and blog that puts people at the heart of the events. Great story telling and giving the reader someone to relate to and taps into our natural curiosity in the lives of others. I am sure many of us have seen the shows the mother was in back in the early 90s (but also many here were not even born yet LOL) and encourages us to go see the new show. It is story telling like this blog and the previous one on the twin boys in Off the Rails that pique people's interest and provides another reason to maybe go catch the event. This is the type of stuff the media should pick up on. The Enquirer and local news outlets are always doing human interest stories, and these would be perfect free marketing for the park outside of the park domain channels to reach potential customers.
  7. While Haunt is assumed and likely will happen, they did put OR in the statement....so they could go the way of other CF parks that eliminated Haunt in favor of Tricks and Treats only.... In the fall, 10 parks will offer Halloween-themed special events such as Tricks and Treats or Halloween Haunt that are sure to appeal to those looking for some frightful family fun or a good scare. And as temperatures drop, WinterFest will return to Carowinds, California’s Great America, Kings Dominion, Canada’s Wonderland and Kings Island. It seems across social media most feel like this on the announcement for KI
  8. But then they caveat it with language that sounds like you may get other benefits at other parks if they offer it....like obviously if a park doesn't have a VIP lounge or a Prestige program then you wouldn't get those benefits there. +Prestige + Passholder benefits may vary by park. Contact the park you are planning to visit for any questions regarding applicable benefits. So if you have Prestige+ from KI and have already went to CP and used said benefits as many have already, were they given that in error or does this caveat language allow it? I think it is a big enough difference that they need to make clear. Value goes up a lot if it works at parks with similar amenities...
  9. Yeah a few of those would be perfect right next to the 2 hour entrance thing! No sense bugging GS every time for the printout!
  10. With the addition of this pass, hopefully that would encourage either longer hours of a staff person at the FL booth or offer the ability to print the ticket elsewhere, like maybe a store or the VIP lounge.
  11. ^Not the mistake I am pointing out LOL, but under Don't waste your money is better than when it shows up in the Crime section like these https://www.wcpo.com/news/crime/mason/thats-what-kings-islands-all-about-family-and-keeping-traditions-former-employees-lifelong-parkgoers-celebrate-parks-50th-anniversary https://www.wcpo.com/news/crime/mason/kings-islands-soak-city-water-park-participates-in-worlds-largest-swim-lesson https://www.wcpo.com/money/angies-list/local/kings-islands-the-bat-coaster-formerly-top-gun-reopens-after-repairs https://www.wcpo.com/news/crime/mason/kings-island-permanently-closes-sling-shot
  12. Thinking ahead a few months, it will be interesting to see which Halloween type attractions implement a similar policy.
  13. Anyone else notice the mistake in the article and ad on the WCPO website LOL
  14. Either you got an email with a link...or use the link on the 1st post It is only the Prestige and Prestige + pass on sale at KI right now.
  15. But then there is the * about contact a park you visit for their benefits and folks have already tested the Prestige pass at another park and the benefits worked (except for 15%), so either they got the benefit in error or they work elsewhere?
  16. One can certainly see removal or re-opening based on their perspective/bias for the ride. Time will tell the fate. We have heard the arguments why it won't reopen (and all are valid points BTW). Some arguments why it might re-open include: If they planned to remove it, then why not simply remove it from the website, park map, queue wait times, etc. Just show a blank space like Mean Streak and SOB? Saying it wouldn't reopen in 2022 likely indicates that they had not decided at the start of the season the fate yet. Those are a lot of markings well outside of the ride area - if they are switching significant electrical components and more power is needed there, that could explain the markings further away. Or the markers away from the ride are part of the removal and renovation of that area. But some the markers are too far away for a simple removal of the ride. The markings do not extend or go beyond the top hat portion - maybe they are not done surveying, but the largest part of the structure would certainly have utilities marked it it were coming down. Removing/trimming the bushes in the turnaround area would be low priority in removal of the ride. Could this be a relocated queue area? We will find out soon enough, but all we know for sure is that activity is happening around the ride that sat dormant most of the year. It could be for removal or it could be for refurbishment.
  17. Since you admit you have never been to Dollywood, I encourage you give it a try before discounting it as simply a Tennesse themed park with ties to Dolly. There is a lot of variety there and I think you will walk away with a much different opinion of that park. Many people go in expecting to be flooded with Dolly stuff and walk away quite impressed with the park. I wasn't overly excited on my first trip to Dollywood as a youngster and I was expecting to be flooded with country music and Dolly songs and sucky rides and walked away a fan of the park. I make several visits every year. Also remember that it was previously Silver Dollar City and Dollywood is mostly owned by Herschend. Dolly has an ownership stake and is the face of the place, but it was more a rebranding than a park dedicated to Dolly. They don't just play Dolly songs LOL. Heck with 9 to 5 playing at KI now, we hear more Dolly at KI than you do at Dollywood LOL According to their website, Dollywood averages 2 Dolly songs per hour. Outside of the Dolly Parton themed area Adventures in Imagination you really do not hear or see much Dolly related stuff. They have great themed areas with appropriate songs for the themed area. KI is getting better at that - who remembers pop music on I street LOL.... Most will say their theming is better and more consistent throughout the park than at KI. They do a lot of things right. The coaster theming for example is better than anything CF does and they actually maintain it. From the food (all original except for Dippin Dots LOL), to the theming, to the shows, to the atmosphere, they have a lot of things going right for them. Sure they don't have a space theme, but they don't need it either. My neighbors just returned from a trip there and was the first time their teenage boys that are totally not country music fans went there. They went in expecting the coasters to suck and to hear country music all day and not be as fun as KI and walked away saying that is their favorite overall park and plan to go again before school starts. They do a lot of little things right that go a long way. In the JukeBox Junction themed area, one would expect a 50s/60s diner and sure enough they do, unlike our Panda Express in FestHaus LOL. And their rides and names are appropriate for the area as well. Now KI has certainly been moving more towards that and fixing some of the wrongs of Paramount, so there is hope at some point for something like a FestHaus to either be rebranded or the food offerings change. Personally, I was expecting more from this announcement than what was announced, but they have a target audience they are marketing to and feel this ride fits that market. I was hoping for a hyper or giga, but even so they do have an underestimated/underappreciated coaster lineup. They are a lot of fun.
  18. As of right now, it is bottled water and bottled soft drinks, power-aid, etc. Snacks are bags of chips/pretzels/etc. At the moment no limit. Of course, always subject to change...for example, I could see it switch to a fountain drink machine next year based on sales of the pass.
  19. What a misleading article title and the phrasing of the article is weird/wrong - Haunt isn't every Sunday during that period, and no mention of Winterfest either. Daily operation ends August 21, but there are still plenty of days that the park is open... So many improvements are needed in that title and article... https://local12.com/news/local/kings-island-2022-season-end-august-21-amusement-park-close-labor-day-weekend-halloween-haunt-50th-anniversary-golden-celebration-mason-cincinnati-ohio MASON, Ohio (WKRC) - Kings Island's 2022 season will officially end on August 21. The park will be open again Aug. 27 and 28, Labor Day weekend from Sept. 2-5, and Sept. 11. Halloween Haunt will run Fridays through Sundays from Sept. 23-Oct. 30. Kings Island celebrated its 50th anniversary this season with a "Golden Celebration," complete with a special fireworks show narrated by "Brady Bunch" star Barry Williams.
  20. ^yes it is! Banshee is holding its own with two trains. Rarely has line been starting down steps.
  21. With two train operation today, the train is going up the lift hill at one speed and no slow mode since the previous train is well off the 2nd lift.
  22. ^ I was implying the quantity of prestige passes sold not the one time use pass....I totally understand the concept of the one time use pass and totally understand it is a once and gone...in fact I have used them before and know how they work... I was being a little sarcastic too (hence the LOL in my post) that if they way oversell the prestige passes, some of the lines at times could look like some of the Sundays in October where FL line is longer than regular line because everyone is redeeming their free fastlane for renewing LOL. I know I have seen The Beast FL longer than the regular line on occasion those last few Sundays.... Usually when there is an emoji or LOL, it can imply a little sarcasm....
  23. Well, that is one way to limit the potential number of them sold LOL...(but I bet if you select the link on the first page of this thread it will work)...
  24. So if they oversell the Presige pass and you never can park in preferred or use the VIP lounge, you are ok with that? I could certainly see the passholder that comes to the park later in the day not being able to use either one if the demand for the pass is high and not capped. Unlike the season long fastlane where you will still get a wristband if they sold out FL for the day and there are many opportunities to still use said FL, as it stands now, the preferred lot and VIP lounge is much more limited in capacity. Unless they increase the supply, the demand could overly exceed what is available....or maybe build a queue for the VIP lounge lol... And let's face it, there are more unknowns than knowns about this pass program right now... It isn't doomsday it is devil's advocate and the park does learn things by throwing these out early and see response here and on social media...they listen, learn, and improve and we will see changes of the Prestige between now and opening day as they listen to customers and try to improve on the offering... Remember duiing the offseason of second year of meal plan when they changed the meal plan to specific windows instead of just 4 hours apart. No doubt the outcry here and social media before the season started resulted in the the 4 hour window we have now.
  25. I am not talking about the one per day front of the line paper, I am talking about how many Prestige passes will they make available - is it limited or unlimited? Search here and nobody thought the park would sell out season long Fast Lane and they do every year quickly...and they are a lot more than $150. I think you underestimate how many people will buy. I could see people not buy season long Fast Lane and opt for this instead. I know people that this is what they will do I think demand for this pass will be higher than we all think... People have already purchased the Prestage pass with all these unknowns...
