Yep. Was there. Hoped after the storm it would be walk-on town, but that certainly didn’t happen. Everything being off line about an hour just built up lines and even AdventureExpress was queued up all the way to the entry sign.

No- big no. Hacks like these are the root of the problems with food quality and portions this year. What you do is converse with guest services. Suggest there needs to be a way to see how long to next meal (that is NOT come check at guest services-that was actually suggested) and show concern for the parks margins and bottom line by highlighting that this was waste and lost profit by not being able to see the forest for the trees. The solution is to suggest pro-active solution like “build in a front line associate override if someone is with 15 or 30 minutes of their next meal” As you read my second post, you’ll see I left the food because the associate just left and never came back, and I didn’t realize my 8year old, who was starved and had started nibbling the pizza I was making him leave, still had the milk in his hand, so we paid for it in the next “magical 15 minutes” when we could get the meal plan food at IS LaRosas. I know you are being sarcastic or snarky with your post.
-
Not at that point. Did 15 min later at a different LaRosas. The associate left and didn’t realize my kid sto had it in his hand till we left.
-
So the park would rather throw out ”good” than allow front line associates to override the meal plan time limit when it’s within 15 minutes? AND FOR THE LOVE OF KI can we please add functionality to the ap of seeing when your next time is? I could’ve sworn we ate at Soak City at 1, but when we ducked into Festhaus a bit after 5 in the thunderstorm and waited 10 minutes in the rain crowded line to get food, we were denied… or should I say “offered to pay” our food with less than 15 minutes to go. Then when you ask for him to get a supervisor he just looks confided and walks away. Almost 5 min later I left… food sitting at the register and took the chocolate milk I was trying to pay for. Get it together team.

Agree to that. They have the shade structures in some of the oddest places, but not over the Queues where you are actually standing… in the sun. And no “theme appropriate” old fans stirring the air.

You mean kinda like Disneyland? They run projections only shows weeknights and pyro weekend only most of the year. I’m not saying we are spoiled, but I was a bit surprised and impressed that FunFireworks and Fifty ran full show every night last year-many times to sone pretty puny crowds (for a very expensive show). I definitely could see that except maybe all nights in July -Early August.

I never understood why they don’t do lighting, projection and minimal prop theming to rides. These wouldn’t be that obvious in day or could be uncovered right at 7 and it would be an easy way to increase the marketable “haunt attractions” with little to no additional staffing. Also never understood why they don’t really do any true “world building”-meaning have the pirate treat station and the pirate scare zone by the pirate ship. Let each build on each other to make a greater experience throughout the day. They do it a bit with AlienX and seemed to be heading that way a few years ago with RivertownReaping and PumpkinEater both in Rivertown area with a similar aesthetic and backstory, but then that was abandoned and the “old world village” of pumpkin eater moved to the “modern” concrete wasteland that could actually be s cool urban vampire scare zone. It feel like random stuff here and there outside of a few areas

Oooh that’s a different direction that I actually like. I was envisioning using the existing building more for queue and load for a traditional dark ride, but your idea is actually very executable. Are you thinking a “ride through” or more “show based” where you add your 3d “opera glasses” the curtain rises and a show begins that goes awry and the motion base takes over? As much as i love animatronics, i would be ok with screen based characters in a fully 3d environment. the fact that they are ghosts means peppers with video could be used for all the more complicated characters, and minimal practical animation for sone props. the existing outdoor vivered area viijd be used for the lobby "preshow". Maybe split the space in two -use the other half as "backstage" that you walk through on the way out.

Phantom in the old Action Theatre as a Coney Island abandoned Vaudeville Theatre thats recently been "discovered". Thge area could stay appropratly overgrown and "abandned" and not look trashy on the maidway since it's out of the way. Add a big entry marque to get attention to it and rework WindSeeker queu to make it more accessible.

How would you have done Dinosaurs Alive differenty?

Agree about the cars. Then it would’ve freed up that space for more development. Seems like tgg he ey could’ve even used sone of the paved paths since it’s essentially a track attached to a concrete path. -
I wish there was one email or post that would go out (and a link in the ap) to take you to all the monthly features. Heck-even a darn menu board at the entrance (in the cooking/kitchen themed shop where they sell dinnerware, glasses and blue ice cream hit chocolate mix) Would probably improve sales if you actually knew what and WHERE they were instead of random one off posts from the park and advice from folks on here. It’s like they want them to be hidden gems, but it’s almost too much work. There are a few spots I never go to unless there’s a special that sounds good, and if I have to go there to find out about it… I won’t. oh, and that shop-it doesn’t exist… but that’s another miss.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
brenthodge replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I fully agree. I think that area could be better landscaped - still have the drone launch point more 'disguised' - possibly a lake with a water feature and (as much as I'd hate to loose it) remove the wavy brick wall and push that path wider as Its a bit of a choke point. Keep the area fenced in, but with a more decorative, open version. There could even be some nice tables and seating for overflow from LaRosas and Jukebox. I think that whole area could be more clearly annexed into Coney with better themed signage and lighting. Would be a cool "second spot" to watch the closing show from if they made the fountain a bit "interactive" and added LED uplighting to all the trees around the pond area to synch with the show - you'd have a clear sight to the drones as well as the firewaorks. -
I know where I’m heading next time. Interesting that they are offering a “No fries” option. Wonder if that’s what you get on dining plan.
-
I don't quite get why they do these extensive projects only to barely use them once the actual ride opens. Like someone said, these would be awesome on the lift and brake run. OnBoard audio would've been cool, but the ride might've overpowered it. Even using some of this in FOF would build consistency. Is this playing as area music now? I know it had been on and off for a while.

Yep-still believe it. Not sure why this thread came back to life LOL. But, it’s still the direction I think they should go. Especially now that Dollywood has added BigBearMtn. Showing that the mix of mid-level thrills and kiddie rides (that KI has had for years) when well themed and integrated makes for a winning mix.

Was just about to say that. It’s the total package that wildwood grove nails (having an overall creative director certainly helped)

New Phantom Theater Encore Merch (TAKE MY MONEY)
brenthodge replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Where was the “ballroom”? Wrong ride? -
Then where are they? They don’t seem to have returned at all.

Just STFU PEOPLE!!!! Saw a post in that KI SeadonPass FB group “reminding everyone you can get 3 free samples of fudge without buying anything “ see. This “need to be adored by sharing great hacks with the world” is why things get less and less. Whadda ya wanna bet soon there will be a $5 “fudge flight” where you get 3 tastes that you can then apply the cost to your fudge purchase LOL

Meanwhile at FrenchCorner, they’ve figured out how to somehow make putting cold chicken salad on a croissant and adding a scoop of cold potato salad into a 20 minute, custom made for you, slid through a hole in wall process. Lol
-
They have ABSOLUTELY NO BANDWIDTH for making any decisions on the fly that would in any way solve an easy problem in real time. Their “supervisors” are either very well, or horribly trained in their total inability to see simple (albeit “not policy”) solutions.
-
They are just “plastique”
-
Who the Hail thought THAT was a good idea??? Good lord, who’s running food ops these day?
-
They do a horrible job of promo specials in there. Even last year with the Bavarian Beetle and Italian Job (two great 50th special sandwiches) with signs outside it was next to impossible to figure out where to get them inside.
-
Agree. They were really camping it up today with little off the cuffs and side remarks. And whoever made the observation about the “is that still there” line about boo blasters… yeah… there’s really some loaded pauses and hints in those lines this year. That-coupled with the fact that’s the only “rides of yesterday” highlighted in AdventureAwaits leads me to think there’s more brewing in that stew pot.
