RE: changing plans on a whim: There is a theory by Brendon at Amusement Insiders that Valravn was originally slated to be built at CWonderland in 2015, but plans were changed quickly because GateKeeper didn't bring in the expected traffic to CP, and they needed something quickly. It makes sense, and there is some logic to it. But in the end, I think CWonderland got the better end of the stick because Yukon Striker looks to be better than Valravn.

DDN: 334-site outdoor resort, RV camping planned near Kings Island
BeeastFarmer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
There isn't a whole lot of anywhere in Mason that is campy, besides the back part of KI. I'm not an RVer, so I don't know much about that aspect, but I'm interested in seeing the cabins and the yurts. And, @Maverick44, I bet they could plant a BUNCH of the Intamin coastal cypress trees and B&M HyperBushes to mute the sound and add to aesthetics! Maybe they could gather some of the heirloom Arrow thorn bush seeds for added security. I just hope the Mystic ivy vines do not spread over from the Miami Valley Lumber Co. -
DDN: 334-site outdoor resort, RV camping planned near Kings Island

There will apparently be no tent camping, so the noise factor is not much of a big deal. They will have an amphitheater, so I could see some noise interference from the freeway with that, but more than likely, the freeway noise will just blend into the background. The RV sections will be noisy by nature because RVs are noisy vehicles. -
New Restaurant - Miami River Brewhouse (Replaces Reds)
BeeastFarmer replied to Fye Coasters's topic in Kings Island
My opinion: I wish the building that housed The Crypt would either be removed or modified so it wasn't so much of a sore thumb. FOF also sticks out, but it is being used most of the year now. In a strange way, each balance the park out. The park is making wise decisions about renovations and restoration which I am quite excited about. As they do this, and right some of the Paramount/Viacom/CBS woes, the park gets better and better, but things like the former The Crypt building will stand out more. If they keep making wise decisions, I am sure it will be addressed in the future, but if not, I'll enjoy the park and all it offers. -
I hope so. Maybe they will go more towards the original design with the trees and tables closer to the storefronts. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

I think the linden trees that lined the Royal Fountain have been removed. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

Maybe he was planted by Vekoma. I wonder what The Real Mike KoontzTM would have to say about that? Tro fo sho!

I think @TombRaiderFTW hit the nail on the head. I've been at some events besides Coasterstock and have heard discussion among some of the YouTube "stars." It was something like this" "Well, ******* wanted to come to the event, but the park would not pay for the airfare from ******" Or, "We we were going to go to ********, but all they offered us was a free ticket. I can't believe they turned down all of the exposure from our channel because they wouldn't throw in food and front of the line passes." I get that parks and the "stars" have a mutally beneficial relationship, but when it comes to the expectation of travel and free things, or the "stars" will throw shade, I think something is wrong with the equation. The most bizarre event I ever went to was promoted as an end of the season event, but kind of morphed into a birthday party for one of the Youtubers. That was weird.

We will find out in a few weeks if what @fyrfyter suggested will happen!

Well, this topic has derailed. I won't add anything except to say that the moderators/administrators have every right to moderate as they see fit. Reading and/or contributing to this site is not a free speech issue. The original poster (who asked for the post to be removed if not ok) was perfectly in line, and the staff was fine to ask not to post those pictures. Sometimes in life, there is grey instead of black and white. I trust the folks at the park and who run this site. I don't think I have seen this much drama on this site before, but I have only been around about 5 years.

Possible, but doubtful. They were likely at the end of their serviceable life. In my previous career, we transplanted trees. Older, larger trees like these had about a 50% percent chance of survival after 5 years and that was if they were moved from ideal conditions (wide open areas with no prior root constraints.) It was very expensive and disruptive to infrastructure. As much as I loved those linden trees on IS, I hope they weren't transplanted.

@Maverick44...Intamin also makes trees! I think they will be the coastal cypress trees but will be planted near The Crypt to disguise it. The new area will be called Kentons Cove Cypress Circus. It will have a lift similar to Millenium Force, and you rappel off the top of the trees and go through some pretty forceful turns. However, downtime will be expected.

The conversation began with me needing a green sheet. I would board at the assigned time and leave my phone at the operator's booth. But when I said that the phone has to be within 20' of me, they said to stop by Guest Services and get a laminated card of who to call if/when there were issues. Evidently, it had happened with a T1D with a Dexcom system before.

Since The Beast is the enemy of all that is good, if he had a son, I doubt that he could be saved. Mods: if this is a violation of TOS, please remove and accept my apology.

I think many of us can point the finger and say "I'm not like THOSE enthusiasts." But truth be told, I think many of us can be "those" enthusiasts. For example, over the last week, I have had 4 or 5 friends post on my Facebook wall a link about Yukon Striker. My response was "meh." When asked to clarify, I responded that dive coasters are fun but boring. I base that on one ride I have been on. These people look to me as an "expert" on coasters, which I am not. But I may have steered someone away from a park because of my opinion. I have seen YouTube "stars" praise a ride when they first ride it and then berate it repeatedly. I generally pay them no mind after that because I realize that they have no inside information that makes them any better or worse than me. I have seen people belittled on this site, and I probably have contributed to it. Yet, I have made some wonderful friends on KIC and events like Coasterstock and Storm the Kingdom. Media day for Mystic Timbers was incredible. I have had many memorable times at Kings Island and other parks and usually can find an enthusiast when I visit a park like Conneaut Lake or Magic Mountain. Pre-arranged meet-ups or just random happenstance, you can usually find a friend at a park, or spot people to avoid. The industry is very subjective and I hope the people at the parks realize how much the majority of us appreciate what they do for us.

As I said in my post, I personally believe the new coaster will be a B&M coaster. I highly doubt that either one of our B&Ms needs significant modification such as a new chain or anti-rollbacks, but if they did, I would suppose they would have to be permitted but then again I don't know. Those specific items were mentioned as a "what if." As far as painting--I could see a permit needed for the painting above a certain elevation as @sixohdieselrage said. I don't know about Mason/Warren County codes, but I wouldn't think a permit would be needed. As far as painting a new coaster from B&M--wouldn't that be part of the initial build cost, and the painting happen at the factory? If so, why would a permit be needed for a new coaster?
-
But if it is "routine maintenance projects," why would Bayum Painting be listed? I happen to think the new roller coaster will be a B&M, but it could be for a new chain and anti-rollbacks and brakes on Diamondback for instance.
-
I'm no expert, but I would think the best we could wish for would be a franchise type of hotel, like Carowinds. It would make sense if KI had a type of ancillary business like the CP Sports Force park to drive more consistent occupancy rates.

I'd prefer the blue to be a little darker, like a galaxy blue. Then name the coaster Wildcat 345 in honor of the Big Blue Nation.
