It seems prudent to deal with the peeling paint sooner than later. The more time elapses, the more peeling happens, the more more expensive it is to fix. Lead paint can be painted over if intact.

Evidently CF and Mondial are still friendly. Looks like a Mondial Top Scan is headed to Carowinds, if the pictures posted are correct.

Kings Island overall food concession experience 2015
BeeastFarmer replied to Tr0y's topic in Kings Island
I've never had Subway or Chic-Fil-A in the park. I do enjoy Panda Express because it is something I cannot get locally. It seems the attitude is pervasive in all of food service-park employed to outside contractor employed-of slow but mostly friendly. -
Kings Island overall food concession experience 2015
BeeastFarmer replied to Tr0y's topic in Kings Island
I always, in my former career, sought good talent (employees), developed them, and rewarded hard work. This was not always monetary. And when I did make a hiring mistake, I was quick to implement progressive discipline and rid the bad apple. Unfortunately, food service at KI does not seem to do this. Like the guy at Panda Express on Sunday. He was at the grill area, flipping thru his cell phone. I can understand if there is a lull, you don't have to work like a madman. But using a cell phone in public when preparing food, without hand hygiene? Cell phones are filled with germs! Or the cashier--instead of saying to my companion: "We don't have no bottled water." She could have said, "I'm sorry but we are out of bottled water today. Would you like a Coke instead?" -
Kings Island overall food concession experience 2015

I had the same experience with Hanks, which is a shame because earlier in the season and last year the food was quite good. -
Only time will tell, but I don't think that it will matter a hill of beans. The current democratic governor is not exactly chummy with Ed Hart and partners. The tax incentives and loans are all within KRS statutes. However, politics is a messy business so nothing would surprise me. When I contacted both campaigns, the democratic side did not respond and the republican side responded with (paraphrase) 'Mr. Bevin does not have a specific stand on this issue, however he is pro business and the park does add to the employment base."

With 76% of voting districts reporting, the AP has called the election for Matt Bevin.

I didn't keep track of non-coaster rides, but here are my coaster totals for the year. I may add to this list if I make it to Dollywood or Six Flags Over Georgia in December. The Beast: 69; Diamondback: 35; Blue Racer: 7; Red Racer:6; Adventure Express: 10, The Bat:8; Banshee:13; Woodstock Express: 5; Flying Ace Ariel Chase: 3, Backlot Stunt Coaster; 4, Vortex: 3, Firehawk: 1, Thunder Run; 12, Lightning Run:10; Roller Skater Coaster; 2, Thunderbird Left Wing: 12; Thunderbird Right Wing:2; The Voyage: 6, The Legend:4; The Raven:6; T3:4 I'm looking forward to expanding my knowledge base in 2016 with my Platinum Pass and visits to parks near the CF parks I visit.

I got to the park a little before 11pm. Got a great parking spot. In just over 2 hours, I was able to: 1. Eat some pizza on I Street. Tasted quite good. 2. Ride The Beast 4 times. 3. RIde Diamondback once. 4. Do Urgent Scare. 5. Do Slaughterhouse. The Haunts were OK--being an RN, I really enjoyed Urgent Scare. One young Scareactor really got me and I think I embarrassed him when I thanked him and told him he did a great job. (I was literally the only person in sight). One funny thing was as I was leaving, there was a group who had been about 5 minutes before me. Big, intimidating, kinda guys. The "creature" outside of the haunt fell in front of him (purposely) and it scared the life out of him. Like, "I gotta change my pants bro" kinda scare. The Beast rides were some of the best of my life.

Yes, the campaign has been rough. I would never give up my obligation/right to vote however. I will be glad when the Kentucky negative campaign is over, but then the national campaign moves to the Centre. Oh well...

SIX FLAGS--ANOTHER RECORD QUARTER
BeeastFarmer replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The Interpreter, just curious. Does the pricing strategy you reference degrade the pricing integrity? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk -
In 2014, it took longer for a friend and I to get refills at The Chicken Shack than it did for the other 2 members of the group to ride Banshee, in her inaugural year, TWICE on a Thursday,

My sister, brother in law and niece bought season passes this year, in June, on a whim. Now, they want gold passes for 2016. I want to buy them for Christmas presents when I am at KI on Sunday Nov 1. 1. Can I do this without them present. 2. Do they need to be linked to their 2015 season passes? 3. In 2016, on their first visit--if they keep the receipt, will season pass processing reimburse that parking fee? Lastly, a question about my pass. I'm upgrading to platinum for 2016. Can I go thru season pass processing this weekend? There is an off chance I will be able to go out west before KI opens in the spring, and if I can visit Knott's I'd like to.

Anyone care to conjecture about Haunt on Saturday night? I'll be coming up after work, so it will be a the end of the night, probably around 10:30. Besides a ride on The Beast and Diamondback, any suggestions on a specific Haunt t try out?

I agree. But, a company is made of the employees. Yes, the food service speed is terrible. We have discussed that ad nauseam here. But in the end, I chose to renew my food plan because of smiling faces. Just like I got a gold pass in '14 and '15 and a platinum pass for '16. The employees made a difference. My last year as a pass holder was in '09 and I left because of terrible customer service. Something has changed in those five years. Maybe one day I'll go back to Disney. I'm sure to have fun. Interesting, Rollernut. I have never been to Carowinds. But I am planning on a visit in 2016. In 2014, the level of customer service was what wowed me back to Kings Island. I had let my season pass expire for a few years and went once or twice. In May 2014, a friend I went on a Thursday in May...a very cold, rainy, miserable day. Every employee went out of the way to make us feel welcome. In 2015, almost every contact with a park employee has been positive. A couple surly food service employees, but ride ops, sweeps, guest relations, everyone has been attentive, cheerful and positive. I have only been to Disney once, when I was 5 years old, so I have no basis of comparison, but I am satisfied with the customer service at Kings Island. Will be interesting to see how it is at other CF parks next year.

Maybe they are using a different paint? Maybe not? T3 has been red for over a year now and still looks nice, as of my last visit during the state fair. Although, I would have liked to see a contrasting color...
-
I do kind of like getting reminder emails about my photos from last year. I guess if I really wanted the memory but didn't want to pay park prices, I could just look at the email.
-
Annoying? Yes. Going to sour my day? No. Sometimes when I go with a friend, we will stop for the photograph and do something really silly. Other times, we will split at the entrance and act alone until we are past the photogs. Other times, it is really nice to be alone.

On this we agree, The Interpreter: The park needs some solid improvement in marketing and public relations.

The pictures I have seen show that the ride has steel track, steel ledgers and metal bents. Mr. Mulcahy ( I think) had stated that it would have wood ledgers, but RMC corrected that via the Facebook discussion that and the pictures back this up. Therefore, I, in my limited knowledgebase, classify this as a steel coaster. Or a plastic coaster if I follow Jeff Gramke's line of thinking.
