kingsislandfan1972
I might be mistaken, but didnt there used to be feet painted on the ground, that went throughout the park leading to The Beast? It was a long time ago, so was there feet on the ground that lead to The Beast?
UnrealNightmare
I only remember The Beast prints going through RiverTown. They might have gone further through the park but that's all I remember of them. Found this on an old thread here. http://www.kiextreme.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=79&pos=7
medford
There is a thread about this somewhere from this offseason if you do a little bit of digging. The Beast had prints on the ground, Vortex had the hand gripping the track logo extending out to the middle of Coney (probably about where the sledge hammer game resides) and Flight Commander had a fighter jet painted onto the concrete to extend the line beyond the que. I don't think anyone could remember any other rides having this, though a few could have been missed.
KI-ORIG-EMP
I remember The Beast footprints. When I first started back at the park in 1992, the paw prints ran from the entrance of The Beast in Rivertown, down past Swan Lake, past Rivertown Pizza along the walkway. I guess they wanted to give the impression that there was a "beast" roaming the park and to be on the lookout for it and to listen to its growl!
APE
I always thought they were put there to show you the way to the ride. When I was a kid it was something my brother and I always looked forward to though a very small thing we loved following the prints.
Hank
Didn't The "Old" Bat have them too?
TombRaiderFTW
If The Beast would leave behind footprints, The Bat would leave behind... Oh dear. That's an awkward thing to paint.

OldieButGoodie
Those paw prints actually extended up between Diamondback and the BLSC - when it was the old-fashioned cars/taxis - but I'm not quite sure where it ended. It was there to show you where to stand while waiting in the lines that frequently extended that far *after* the lower queue line (now gone, behind the exit fence) and the rest of them were open.
Joshua
I think about the "Beast-prints" every single time I walk past (or into) The Beast's entrance.
Oldiesmann
I remember the footprints going all the way to the rear of the Eiffel Tower in 2005. It was a great way to tell people how to get to The Beast - go to the tower, look for the paw prints and follow them to the ride.
Shaggy
I *believe* The Beast's paw tracks managed to extend all the way around the Eiffel Tower and to the right side of International Street for at least one season. However most seasons, that I recall, the tracks began behind the Eiffel Tower. The tracks haven't been consistent... they've been there some seasons, not there others. Traditionally, they wear away by mid-season or so from foot traffic. But for those years where no tracks appeared it was often because the black-top had been re-sealed just prior to the park opening. I would suspect their appearance/disappearance has more to do with "time" or the lack thereof. As other's mentioned, Vortex, Flight Commander had them. But Beastie typically had them when Beast did. Top Gun and, I believe FOF had them for their inaugural seasons.
Browntggrr
The Beast footprints extended to the tower & around it for a handful of years. It is my understanding that the significance at that time was to showcase the length of The Beast line on excessively busy days the first couple years.

BlondyRidesOn
I remember them from the Paramount years. I saw them around the Eiffel Tower.
mullimann
The paw prints were for extended queuing, as well as directing you to the rides. Some areas there were stripes on each to make a somewhat strait line of people. I remember waiting for The Beast all the way out almost to the old salt water circus. By the time we got to Rivertown Pizza I was done with being in line since I was young at the time.
MrSaturdayNite
Seems that in recent years, I haven't seen as many queues spilling out onto the midway as I did during the 90's. Why is that? Improved capacity? More rides and a better waterpark to spread out the crowds? Some combination of these?
shark6495
I wouldnt guess improved capacity as much as your statement about more rides, and possibly better queues? The park has spread out with more and more rides. This means that more people can be in the park spread out. The best way I imagine this is the registers at a shopping center. If you have a small grocery store with only 1 or 2 registers, if only 25 people checkout, those lines would be very very long. If you have a large grocery store with 100 people checking out, and 25 registers open, then only 4 people in each line. So the bigger the store, the more people. The bigger the store the more registers which means lines would be shorter. When Beast opened, the big rides in the park were Racer, Beast, antique cars, 2 long flumes, Lion County, Screamin Deamon. Compared to this year: Banshee, Bat, Beast, Racer, Vortex, Adventure Express, log flume, Whitewater Rapids, waterpark, larger kiddie area, Backlot, Firehawk, FoF, etc. Bigger store with more registers = smaller queues.
The Interpreter
Attendance used to also be higher than it has been in recent years.

The Interpreter
It doesn't. Estimates are out there. Back then the park had more attendance in fewer days.
