IceePirate
Could be installing a little bit of netting, that area is right above the tracks. I would be extremely surprised if they put trim brakes there

They do it every year, or they're working on the ivy tunnel to White Water Canyon. I've also been bored watching the cameras a lot, and it looks like the landscaping crew is making their way through the park, so we might see some grass and more landscaping around Area 72.

Remember they did mention that there are employees that are not furloughed and still receiving pay at this point because they want to be ready if given the okay to open. BUT would reassess finances if they should put people on furlough the further we go into the season. I interpreted it as: if we lay those people off, don't expect to open for the season. Knotts could be the exception as California especially la county and I'd imagine Orange County extending their orders longer than other states because of how much more densely populated they are.  Might be the last to open compared to other states parks. Hawaiian Coasters 325
Amusement Parks and Waterparks were not included in today's press conference. However, the LT Governor did say they are working on that and they are apart of the travel and tourism group. No date set on when that will be addressed. 1
IceePirate
Summary of reopening announcements from today: NOT TALKING ABOUT WATER PARKS AND AMUSEMENT PARKS: Lt Gov said that they are apart of the travel and tourism group, which hasn't been announced yet May 21 - Remaining aspects of campgrounds May 22 - Non-spectator horse racing (no casinos) May 26 - BMV as well as gyms, fitness centers, low or no contact sports, and local pools May 31 - Daycares/camps will be able to reopen with limited capacity. Â As always, these dates aren't set and can be pushed back if they aren't seeing the direction they want to go.
coaster sally
The LT was quick to point out that pool openings did not mean amusement/water parks. Not a surprise that amusement parks are at the bottom of the priorities. There can be horse racing but no spectators. That is to open 5/26. Let that sink in, how is an amusement park with thousands of guests are supposed to reopen? Summer is not that long. IceePirate
At the rate we're going, we are probably going to be pretty in line with Indiana's June 14th. Which would mean an opening date of July 1-4Â even more likely. 1
gforce1994
Universal City Walk reopened today, and from the early reports, it sounds like it was messy. One Fox35 reporter shared video of a guest yelling at one of the employees checking the temperature of the guests entering.
Hawaiian Coasters 325
I saw a post on Facebook that Cedar Fair is sending out surveys to passholders. Has anyone here gotten one? If so, what was asked and what stuck out to you the most?

IF this happened, I suspect it was park-specific...aka not Kings Island. Yet.

ziplock
Mt. Olympus has announced on their Facebook page that they will be opening their parks on May 26th, with the limitation being that only guests who stay in their hotels will be allowed to enter. Given the number of hotel properties that the Laskaris family now owns in the Wisconsin Dells, I'd be willing to bet their parks will soon be packed with guests. KIfan73
I got the survey yesterday. Â It is very in depth, and had some very interesting questions, along with various possible scenarios for re-opening.

flightoffear1996
I may have been exposed to the virus last Saturday (just found out this information yesterday). I am experiencing no symptoms currently and the person I know who tested positive is asymptotic.  The Dr said my chance of exposure was low since we maintained distance from the person and were out doors. Wish us luck!
silver2005
Just saw an overview of all the zip codes in Hamilton County (where I live) and how much the virus has hit each, and my zip code has the highest rate of infections.  Peachy.

LuckyluvsKI
None of those options really include pass holders. The first option would be hard because if the number heading out doesn't match or greater than the next hourly incoming wave then what? Are they going to force people out to let new ones in?   the splitting half and half same problem. The would need at least an hour in between to sweep and clear the previous group out of they're trying to keep numbers correct.  i think silver woods system would do well. Those with passes and x number of tickets sold by said date are automatically reserved for every day.  now here's where they can take a gamble: statistically not every pass or pre bought ticket is going to show up on any given day probably half or less. Just for ease of example say the limits 15,000. They could in theory reserve 5000 to cover pass holders 2500 to pre sold tickets to allow them to come as they please still, then it's a reservation free for all to day of tickets for the other 7500.  I'm sure the number gurus can figure out the risk ratio to make sure they get a good amount of ticket sales to make profit etc and still keep it available to pass holders.
Winterfestguy
A piece on the news this morning explained how fast food places (when dining rooms open) will not allow the self serve beverage bar for awhile, including freestyle machines that are frequently seen at Wendy’s and BK.   If KI does open this season with no self service beverage bars or freestyle machines, it will be interesting to see how beverages and drink plans are administered (as well as how souvenir bottles be handled - I wouldn’t want to touch one even with gloves).  Adding employees to get drinks for customers In the interim, would likely add to the overall daily operation costs.  McDonalds even went as far to issue guidance on turning off beverage bars or having an employee manage them. The fast-food giant is asking operators to enforce social distancing, clean bathrooms every half-hour and turn off soda fountains if they aren't able to assign an employee to operate them. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/05/14/mcdonalds-reportedly-sent-franchisees-a-59-page-guide-for-reopening-dining-rooms.html
