Love the advance notice they give guests.

EXACTLY. Pointless to even do this. MAYBE use things like this to drive attention and attendance to the FOOD and wine festival. If you want to keep it “day of” cool. Kinda weird, but it’s a hook. They should’ve been marketing for the last few weeks “as part of our FOOD and wine festival, our delicious Chef’s Specials return on Saturday and Sunday evenings ( I’d suggest maybe just Friday as a way to drive attendance on a slower day) Follow us here to see what pops up. Special are so special, they won’t be announced until 4 for service beginning at 5 and only while it lasts” but hey… I’m no marketing genius!!!

I remember a few years ago when these were announced days in advance, actually planning trips I hadn’t planned to the park just to get them - not accidentally stumble onto them.

I honestly thing someone totally dropped the ball. Forgot to push anything out. Perez was setting up and anyone with a phone realized “oh sh!/, we never advertised this” took a quick picture and stuck it out there as “Try it Now!!” Sent it to Jim’s in box and hoped for the best.

Miami River Brewhouse Review 6/7/2025:

We absolutely did not want to stay stationary at an outside table long enough to be touched by the cicadas, so we headed over to the Miami River Brewhouse for lunch. I absolutely hate cicadas with a passion so they did sour my park visit today.

We went to the Brewhouse this afternoon and had a very convenient experience. I got a plain Big Dog, and a Coke. My drink was good and standard and lasted well throughout my time in the restaurant, no notes. It was packed in there, and a wonderful associate was able to clean off a table for us right after another group got up. While waiting for our food I looked around and realized that about half of the tables I could immediately see were also waiting for their food. Our buzzer went off once or twice before it was supposed to. I don't know exactly how those work, so I can't explain why that happens. Any insight would be appreciated. My food was nice and warm and I finished most of it before realizing I was full. Brewhouse definitely provides a proper American-sized portion. There were still people pouring into the building by the time we left. The amount of unoccupied tables never seemed to get above zero for more than 10 seconds. If anything, to me that is an indication that Kings Island needs another large indoor dining location like the Brewhouse. Maybe the KillMart building could be used (with some additional square footage in the back for a kitchen). As a whole I'd rate this experience at 4/5 Stars.

Our receipt still said "King's Island" at the top. I have a feeling this will not be corrected anytime soon, even though it seems like an easy fix. It's nitpicky, but I think the park should have its name spelled correctly everywhere within the park.

We strolled over to the Festhaus to watch Country Crossroads, so I decided to take the opportunity and get a drink. The associate looked tired (today looked like it took a toll on everyone), but I hope they are able to get some rest. None of these associates are getting paid enough to deal with these crowds. All three machines seemed to be fully functional and full of ice! My Coca-Cola tasted great. The show seemed a little fast, although I had a busy day yesterday so I may still be coming down from that.

So far, my overall 2025 Kings Island dining experience is still rated at 4/5 Stars!

Had a Pub Burger today, tasted fine. Still wished they served fries instead of tater tots, but whatever. I'll still eat them

Agreed,  I hate tater tots and rarely eat their, unless getting a salad.

The tater tots being the only included side often makes me think twice about Brewhouse, even though I like most of the entrees.

Couldn't agree more! Fries have the potential to be amazing! Tater tots not so much. They should just steal some of Potato Works fries into Brewhouse and serve those! Combine the greatest snack with Brewhouse makes for a new popular restaurant!

Swung through today for a quick ride and lunch (love working close).  Did Grain and Grill did the shrimp, garlic potatoes, and roll.  Shrimp was fine, garlic potatoes were a hit.  I think I’m done with the shrimp at G&G just not the best lately.

In today's episode of Six Flags budget cutting, Skyline is out of season long paper cups and refuses to provide guests with the larger cups available and forcing guests to then carry their Skyline to another place to get their drink.  And they are out of onions...

Buy your season pass with free drink plan...and go to Coney BBQ where the drinks are flat...

Caveat Emptor

If that ever happens to me, I will ask for a supervisor or higher up immediately. It's not my fault you don't have the cup available for the all season drink plan. In the past they would just give you the bigger cup.

And what is the next step when that is done and still denied....and what does guest services really do in that situation for a season pass holder - promise to do better next time?....

The answer should be, "Go get more Drink Plan cups from storage", but they'd probably still refuse to provide the drink. I assume this is a directive from higher up. The associates were either told (most likely) to not provide a different size cup or are (rightfully) more stubborn due to the wage decreases this year. Guest Services would only be able to file your complaint with the others and nothing else. "We are sorry about your negative experience. Kings Island drink plan holders are encouraged to find another refill location that has products in stock."

I'll say it until my fingers fall off: $15/hour is nowhere near enough for what associates and service workers have to put up with throughout the day.

The drinks I've gotten this year have been much better than previous years. My group often goes early in the day, though not everyone has that luxury. Time of day should also not affect the quality/availability of drinks or ice.

The larger cups have also started to come in a new teal color, probably to make it easier for someone to distinguish when handing one to a guest.

This has happened to me in seasons prior and I just say nicely “you need to give me the other cup” and I’ve never had an issue. I’m not going to a different place when there are cups right in front of me.

I think if they were mad at wage decreases, they wouldn't be stubborn about not giving larger cups....it would be the exact opposite - they wouldn't care about saving KI money and would give away larger cups, give you the ICEE cups for the ICEE drink plan, give you another side when hush puppies are out, etc.

In this instance, that was a directive told to the employee and the employee being newer was following the instructions provided to them.  It is only after getting yelled at by guests enough times that they say screw it and give away the larger cups.  It isn't costing the employee anything and saving a lot of f bombs being dropped on them.

As long as their events continue to "sell out", they feel there is no reason to market it....

They feel it is better to have you mad you missed it because you didn't know about it than have you mad because they marketed it and you made a special trip and missed it because it sold out....

Their method creates what they like to call a sense of urgency that you should be at the park for fear of missing out of something they decide to do and announce day of...

^^ Which I get. It makes sense. The issue is when little things creep in and then they do this it feels bad all over.

“our chef will randomly select days for a special meal. But do not worry all of our other food stands have delicious food, well stocked supplies, water cups, and more. Make it a #KIDAY”

Well I have been going 80+ and 90+ times for last several years,,  this year just at 21 and wont get anywhere near those previous numbers.   It is sad and the park is making many do the same......   Life time pass holder and been to park since it opens and hopefully I and many others will continue but if operations remain as is for a longer time,  doubt it ......

I'ts now actually a quarter pound hot dog, back to the normal hot dog size, but bigger diameter.

The best footlongs in the park are at Brewhouse (the Big Dog) or a plan footlong can still be found at Soak City's Coconut Cove Cafe (although no relish at that location :( )

Those foot-long hot dog wrappers are either leftovers from last season or were reordered before the size of the meat was changed. It might be that someone just doesn't care what the wrappers say, although I can't imagine Six Flags having a big mandate about what hot dog wrappers in their parks look like or have on them. The new dog is a little more manageable to eat, which I can commend.

ICEE machine in new drink stand in Action Zone is broke.

ICEE/drink stand by Diamondback is out of season long drink cups and super refuses to honor drink plan with the larger cups.

They already got your money....

What can guest services do - certainly won't refund your season long drink plan.  Best you will get is an apology.

Caveat Emptor

Buy your silver pass with the free drink plan....

Best you can do is share with people you know who ask about the park how bad the experience this year, and more importantly, don't buy merchandise, don't buy blue ice cream, don't buy Food and Wine food, etc. Spending money in the park is putting a giant stamp of approval on how things are being run.

As Terpy used to say often "they have your money"...

But that list above isn't completely accurate...yet...unless that is the plan starting in July.

I can't vouch for all of them, but Thursday I can confirm French Corner, Tower Drinks, Freestyle, Pig Pens and I thought it was odd the beer stands were empty after the effort to add them.

I know that the Rivertown funnel cakes, Rivertown Freestyle, Tower Drinks, beer carts, and Pig Pens were all closed last Monday. However, Skyline was open, and so was the Auntie Anne's in Rivertown, which is never open anymore.
