Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
IBEW_Sparky replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Apologies for the double-post, but the most genuinely unfortunate part of this entire debacle in my case is the fact that within the past 2-3 years I had gotten to where I genuinely ENJOYED and looked forward to a day or weekend at KI. Ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you that is saying a LOT because I am a very very difficult person to sway and once a person or place is in the gutter to me, it takes usually more than any place or person has to come back, and KI had truly done that to the point where I placed it on a pedestal above any other CF park Id attended, including that joint up north. Now with what's going on, I am just hoping my single outing this year for my Pride Night visit gives me the warm fun feelings the park gave me last year and the year before. The thing is, if they showed that they are honestly trying to make things better instead of constantly picking apart and making what people have already paid for worse, then I would look into becoming a passholder again, and I would GLADLY pay double the base price for the pass itself if that's what it takes for them to show me a solid value for it. -
Kings Island Dining Ideas
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to CartersCoasters's topic in Kings Island
I'd love to see if Kings Island could incorporate a replica of the Moonlite Gardens building from Coney Island somewhere in the park. My first thought is that it could be a big new indoor dining location, called the "Moonlite Gardens Dining Hall". It could have an indoor VIP lounge on the second floor (accessible via stairs and an elevator via an outside entrance) and a lot of tables inside and outside the building. Maybe it could have either a cafeteria line service like Hugo's at Cedar Point or a better version of the table service-ish experience found at the Miami River Brewhouse. It could be a nice addition for the Saltwater Circus plot or a somewhat extensive project to take over the KillMart building in Coney Mall. Kings Island desperately needs another indoor dining location and this would bring one more thing from Cincinnati's Coney Island into the park that it inspired. -

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
BeeastFarmer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!: Six Flags Entertainment Company to debut a worlds first record breaking family attraction at Kings Island: Bankruptcy: The Ride! This thrilling yet depressing attraction will spin in a downward spiral with record breaking speed! Yet there will be scene stops that pay homage to what got the famed entertainment corporation to this point: Messy Kitchen Corner, Trash Tunnel, Broken Promise Bridge, No Caring Closet, and Removed Rides Room. These scenes will rove and spread, overseen by Big DZ, Prince BW, and Greedy Sal. Construction is set to begin in July 2027 in the area formerly occupied by The Vortex roller coaster. -

With 2026 season passes set to go on sale the 31st and how much we're seeing some parks already teasing that date if that's when we'll see Six Flags roll out their 2026 capital plans. In recent years, that's what Cedar Fair did. Also worth mentioning that Great Adventure announced their planned 2026 record breaking coaster has been delayed. With not really much evidence/rumors at KI recently, I'm starting to wonder if KI will follow suit. I'm actually starting to hear rumblings that the crypt building is going to be a new Haunt along with the Blackout building (take with grain of salt as nothing has been announced/confirmed by the park yet and I don't know anything.) If that's true, I'm wondering if KI is going to get a ride from Six Flags America or if Boo Blasters is getting updated. Guessing we'll find out July 31st. -

Wasn't one of the touted benefits of the merger was for CF to gain access to parks across the country with differing climates to better offset the colder climates most of their parks were in.... -

Evidently Great Adventure has lost holiday in the park as well. Hearing Oktoberfest is cancelled as well. I think they are now purposely making decisions that would indicate they want bankruptcy. -
What’s Dollywood up to?
brenthodge replied to brenthodge's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It’s also crazy that there’s a massive building, with some type of track being loaded into it, that’s opening most likely in March of next year and we still really have no definitive idea as to what the heck it is. In this day and age of media attention- that’s pretty impressive (and they must have good friends in the sevier county planning and permit board that keep their secrets well. -
I'd be happy with a corn dog stand with those giant ones you used to (still can?) get at the carnival.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026

After thinking about it, you can only physically be at one park. The old way if you didn't have the all park passport and were near another park you probably wouldn't go in, but with the early purchase deal you would and be more likely to boost attendance at all parks, therefore increasing spend at the parks. The bigger picture is if more people are going to the different properties, you'll get more reviews/word of mouth so you better be on your best behavior. Being a former platinum/current passport holder, this is great news personally. That money I'm saving on the all park passport will end up being spent in the parks. As far as "giving away the gate" it seems that it may be a reversing trend in attendance if it keeps declining. Alot of people have been laid off and things are getting more expensive and with insurance preminums increasing and the cuts in federal programs people will start having less to spend. The reduction in attendance is not just a KI thing, it seems to be industry wide.

Well they just cancelled Holiday in the park at Six Flags over Georgia. Carowinfs has also cut their summer operating hours from what was previously advertised. Kings Dominion canceled their Winterfest after advertising it with 2025 season pass sales last year. look for more of this kind of bait and switch to happen with these cheap season passes. we know that cheap season passes took six flags in the gutter in the past and now they’re going to bring the former Cedar Fair park into that same gutter I’m afraid

Cincinnati Area Haunts

Check out Dipster's Hollow up near Grover Springs. -
I'd have never found out about it if I didn't do some research for a project in college a few years ago! Turns out Miami University owns/once owned it. It's actually one of two sites for the missile base, but I think the other one is still used by someone for its radio/satellite tower. Area 13 also had a different name/operator (I think) when it first opened. That, combined with the fact that it's in a very remote location, makes it one of the more interesting greater Cincinnati area haunts. I'd love to get out there some day.

Dollywood continues to put themselves into the premier tier of theme parks. With everything that’s happening with SIX it’s nice to see some parks continue to thrive and invest in their customers. -

I have never heard of Area 13.....that seems interesting. The Dent Schoolhouse is phenomenal! I agree 100% @malem @pianoman and I went there last year (It was their first time but my 2nd). We had a blast. Such a well done haunt. -

There is a construction marker in the old Extreme Skyflier spot. It,'s been there for awhile, so my guess is that it's going there, if we get anything next year. -

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
Losantiville Mining Co. replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
It is no longer listed on their events website. It would not surprise me in the least if we began to see more events removed to direct guests to a park within a 2-4 hour drive. SFOG and Kings Dominion guests can just go to Carowinds for Winterfest. SFSL guests can just go to Worlds of Fun for Halloween Haunt. Dorney Park guests can just go to Great Adventure for Holiday in the Park (DP didn't host a Winterfest last year, but the point stands). Next thing you know, HalloWeekends will be the only place to go for a Six Flags Halloween event within a 5 hour drive. (Just kidding, that is a nightmare scenario, but is something that I could unfortunately see SF doing.) Just more cost cutting measures that will help short term gains and harm the parks in the long term. -
I just found a copy of Kings Island's 50th Celebration menu on Reddit, and it has me wondering, is there a reason why Kings Dominion couldn't have done something like this beyond not having the manpower/willpower to make it happen? Temporarily renaming some more food items for 2025 might've helped to make the celebration a little more grand. I've noticed a lack of promotion for the 50th menu items now as well, despite the fact that the celebration doesn't end until August 3rd.
