  1. Well, at least if they were to install an Intamin, we would have the same reliability as Firehawk.

  2. B&M takes the Volcano: The Blast Coaster concept and fixes it into a GiGa Flyer. Themed to X-Base, the coaster will be called Moon Mountain: Launch to the Future!, and will feature a 400 foot tall lunar mountain built on top of FOF where the flyer will have its third launch straight up and out of the mountain. The overall theme will be tied to how The Beast actually brought back some contaminated DNA when she visited the moon, infected the vegetation near the Miami Valley Lumber Co, grew a giant rattlesnake nearby, where an Irish Spirit chases them to Action Zone and constantly screems her head off, Indiana Jones tries to save the day but fails, and two trains try to Race each other to get out of the area. Oh, it will be specifically designed by B&M to run in temperatures down to -3 F and the track will be able to circulate hot water inside so that snow and ice will not hamper the ride during the winter season. The newly expaned X-Base will have a seperate entrance and will operate year round. How's that for some imaginative speculation?

  3. When I was a kid, this was my favorite area of the park besides Hanna Barbera Land. I loved the theming and the the polka music. I loved Der Spinning Keggers and The Flying Dutchman (shoes). Sad what has become of this area. But with some love I think it could be an actual destination again and not a confusing walk through area. I'd like to echo what some have said previously, that a little re-theme of Adventure Express could be a good start. Instead of the Adventure Village theme the coaster now has, which doesn't fit in as we no longer have Adventure Village, maybe a Dark Forest twist to it a la Grimm's Fairy Tales. Also replacing slingshot with a German themed Flat. Not sure where you would put Sling Shot where it would be able to attract riders with the kind of foot traffic it gets now though. I feel like that is more of an impulse buy when you see other people going on it. I think that ambient sounds and music go a long way to help themed areas also and that should not be underestimated. Oktoberfest, even just walking through the area as it is now could be livened up with some real Oktoberfest/German music. Same goes for all the areas. I remember walking through the front gates, walking down International Street and seeing that fountain and feeling the cool mist hit while songs like "Sabre Dance" were playing. Or even the Top Gun and Star Trek Themes after that in the Paramount Era. It felt larger than life. Rivertown could play some Splash Mountain type of music. This has all been discussed before in other areas, but I'm just saying it'd be nice to have this type of music back in this dying area to give it even a little of its old spark back.

  5. I don't get why there are some people who think that we're getting a wing coaster. Granted Wing coasters are a unique experience, they don't really do much for me in particular.

  6. ^Or the long awaited B&M 4D coaster...

  7. They aren't removing them for no reason, I'll tell you that.

  8. Hopefully they do a good job on the landscaping because that is what is going to make ride.

  9. I think the park could use 3 coasters. A Giga, An RMC, and a Mack Launch Coaster. All of those fill very unique rolls and are like nothing we already have. We don't need a Dive or a wing or a floorless. Cedar Point is roughly 3 hours from KI. We don't wanna be Six flags where they copy 90% of the rides across all the parks.

  10. Sorry I meant to add winged launched strata coaster where Intamin, B&M and RMC come together and make the greatest coaster on earth.

  11. TBH Ki needs a great launch coaster. FoF is old and rough. BLSC is just a no. haha 2 things KI needs a giga and a great intimin blitz

  12. It also doesn't really make any sense. We just got a new invert, and a wing coaster wouldn't give guests the WOW factor that KI needs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. They’ll likely never separate them. It’s easy to give benefits, it’s very hard to take them away.

  14. What if...... the B&M “attraction” is a prototype? What kind of coaster could that be? Since B&M has dabbled in launching, maybe it could be a launched giga?... or launched flyer? Or something none of us have ever seen before? i wouldn’t mind seeing a completely new themed area.

  15. Very cool, Horizons is probably my most missed ride from all of WDW and it is interesting to see some close up video of the ride. I miss the old Epcot in general, all those high capacity rides that were 10 - 15 minutes and had so much to see. I wish they would have kept Horizons and World of Motion and built Mission Space and Test Track elsewhere like maybe Mission Space in Wonders of Life's spot.

  17. Since there a ton of posts about gigas on other threads, I decided to create a central topic just dedicated to the speculation of the giga coaster that most coaster enthusiasts believe we are going to get in the future. What we know: Cedar Fair has added 3 gigas to its parks since 2010 Each giga installed is taller than the last Kings Island is the only major Cedar Fair park without one What we can speculate: The conception of the coaster itself B&M is a likely candidate The old S.O.B station might be used ^If not in Action Zone then it could be put in X-Base^ Possibly a green color since KI has no coasters that color Like I said, this is just a speculation thread. 18. Sneaking into a Forgotten Disney World Ride (Epcot - Horizons) I highly recommend watching this video. It is 25 minutes long, but very much worth the time. The mini-documentary takes footage from two massive fans of Epcot's former Horizons attraction and their adventures sneaking off the ride to take a closer look at the sets full of animatronic and props. I watch a lot of YouTube videos and I must say, I have never been so entranced by one like this before. Not only is it exciting, but it is also emotional and invokes an extreme sense of nostalgia - even for me, who was not even born during the operation of Horizons. Disclaimer: I am, and the video is not, glorifying taking potentially dangerous action in walking around an operating theme park attraction; please take the story for what it is, and enjoy the ride.

  19. Yeah I suppose. I was watching off ride vids.

  20. I thought the same thing and it wouldn't be a bad spot for it. Cedar Point needs a stationary observation tower.

  21. I wouldn't call it sluggish. It is just different than the typical experience. POVs don't always tell the full story. See Timbers, Mystic.

  22. @SonofBaconator At the same time, you have to give credit where it is due. If Intamin has made strides to be more reliable, they deserve credit. They are building quite a lot overseas including the 367 ft Red Force (0-111.9 mph in 5 seconds on LSM's, more reliable than the hydraulic launches), Energylandia's Hyperion (chain lift, no cables), and BGW's 2020 coaster is a confirmed Intamin along with SWSA's newest coaster. I haven't heard much of any major problems from them lately as well.

  23. From the video I see it looks fun but just sluggish. Seems like some of the hills it barley makes it over. haha I am not much for spinning but ill ride it for the credit.

  24. Time Traveler was a great ride. It certainly didn't pack the force of a Maverick or I305, but it was as smooth as glass.

  25. I agree, there are so many Wildcat clones that I wouldn't mind sacrificing one and seeing what RMC could do with it.

  26. Oh I agree that we should get a Blitz over a Mack, I just don't see it ever happening unfortunately. We're going on what, like a decade of no new Intamins in Cedar Fair?

  27. Ahh come on now that's a low blow! Intamin's are not that bad! The ride would be smoother and not cause CTE in our brains after riding it!

  35. Honestly, getting entry into every Cedar Fair park is a massive perk. The Platinum level is targeted to a specific kind of guest, one who travels a lot and visits multiple parks yearly. There's no reason to add any more perks to it. Also, here's a big "nay" to getting rid of the Gold Pass. People love it. It's very popular. It's profitable for the park. Also, if there's one thing that angers consumers, it's making them pay more for less.

  36. If a giga is coming in 2020 then work has most certainly begun. The question is: has it begun? I believe the answer is yes.

  37. i agree... return the German theming to the Festhaus and ditch the stench of Panda Express. contract Hofbräuhaus to move in.

  38. Intamin has also kind of gone stale as of late. They haven't come up with anything new in quite a while and are focused in the Asian market at the moment. Most other companies can now play the 'me too' game with Intamin on top of continuing with churning out new innovations while also having better ROI and reliability.

  39. Why???? Perhaps because that would leave $45,000 additional to be spent elsewhere. Perhaps because they want to paint nostalgia for SOB Perhaps because it doesn't just save $45,000 additionally it saves money and time that would be needed for a que Perhaps because that is the location that makes the most sense, and reuse, reduce, recycle is their motto. There are other reasons for sure. IF KI were to install a B&M giga, or any other giga in that spot, I can only assume that there would have to be substantial rework done on "the platform" itself to allow for the different style coaster/track to be installed. I'll agree that $45,000 (assuming your number is correct, I have no clue) is peanuts in the total cost KI would have to spend to build a Giga, and $45,000 will not drive the use of the old SOB station one way or another, that will be driven by other, more important factors. SOB's station sits pretty high up, the foundation work and steel I'd have to imagine is pretty expensive. Anyhoo, w/ Mysty added to the lineup this season, I think that gives the park at a minimum 3 seasons, up to 5 seasons before their next major coaster install. I have felt for a long time that a CGI was the right addition to the park and was happy when it was announced. I now feel, based upon KI's current lineup, that a Giga is the right next install. That however could change with time. Should Vortex need to be removed, then a B&M floorless looper would make more sense to me. Should The Racer meet its demise, then something more family oriented makes more sense to me. I'd venture a guess that whomever is in charge of the long term vision for each park has a pretty good idea of what the next major installs should be, not only at KI, but across the CF chain. They are privy to what rides are near the end of their cycle, what B&M or other manufacturers have in their pipeline, what drive attendance, etc.. Would love to have that person's insight, just to know the thinking and process involved in the plan.
