  1. I’m a little surprised that there is no Mystic this year.

  2. While it would likely be a Mack, I would prefer an Intamin with that. I really enjoyed Velocicoaster and a stall like on Velocicoaster or Pantheon would be unique for the park. Having it go over the pathway would be cool. Do it like Steel Curtain where there is an airtime hill and a stall underneath it.

  3. I'm going to put this here instead of making a new topic for it. Kings Island is seriously lacking in a good supporting or keynote launch coaster. From my weekend at Knotts's riding some Xcelerator, to my few days in Orlando this week riding Velocicoaster, it made me seriously consider the overall line up that we have at Kings Island. We have been lacking in a serious launched coaster for some time now, while FoF is a solid classic first, BLSC just doesn't do it for what I feel like the park is lacking. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, I think Orion is fun, but definitely not what the park needed. We have a good invert, with great inversions, but we're lacking a modern launch coaster that blends inversions with solid speed. I would love to see a reintroduction to Intamin if we could, but even if not that, a serious Mack that actually has the intensity a la Velocicoaster would be something I think the park is desperately lacking.

  5. It will be interesting to hear what folks are saying about Pipeline when it officially opens to the public. I am cautiously curious about it. However, I still can't personally get behind the idea of stand-ups having a wide spread renaissance amongst parks. It's more of a novelty experience IMHO and Sea World falls into a novelty experience park, again, IMHO.

  6. Looks great. Love the detail work. Now, let’s bring back the vintage logo on the front of each log! That would be a great finishing touch.

  7. I 100% agree. I’ve been saying Mack Multi launch for quite a while now. I just think something like Copperhead Strike with a couple of Inversions and some ejector airtime would do some amazing things for the park. I have said Mack should try a stall and Europa park’s 2024 coaster will include one. I just think a stall over the path leading to Coney mall from Rivertown would just be incredible. It would interact with the guests perfectly. We don’t have anything like it in the park it would be completely different.

  8. Not necessarily, the footage on the 360 camera I captured at BGT was amazing, felt like footage out of a commercial. Again, it was done with body mounting gear.

  9. It always fascinates me what now-defunct rides from KI stick in my memory and which I have no recollection of. We started going to the park every year in 1982, when I was 3. So, theoretically, I would have gone for several years when Screamin' Demon and The Bat were there. I know we walked around the park, because King Cobra fascinated me as a kid. But I have no memory of seeing either coaster in action. I didn't know what The Bat was until years after Vortex opened; I think I learned about it when I was in the lobby of International Restaurant, where they had several news clippings from throughout the years on the wall. I'm curious about what would have happened if The Bat would've been successful -- I agree with others that the novelty would have been intriguing for a bit, but I don't see it having much longevity (no one went to Cedar Point for Iron Dragon for long). How much of the park's late-80s, early-90s success can be attributed to Vortex? That ride certainly wouldn't have been in its picturesque location, and it might not have been built at all (IIRC, it was built for basically free as a favor by Arrow after The Bat was closed). They would likely have gotten some sort of Arrow looper, but I don't know it would have been as special. Without that, do you still have a thrill-seeking audience coming in?

  10. At least it's not limited to just the rides in Adventure Port like a certain "other park" would have done

  11. I'd have concerns on the train height on some areas regarding clearance, Mack trains are on the tall side. FOF has the launch tunnel and supports pretty close to the track, especially late in the layout.

  12. What about the MACK trains like on Copperhead Strike?

  13. Thanks for quoting verbatim their press copy NOW when the teams come in to age and distress the bright colors into a sun-faded village through character paint, over washes and forced shadows it will be amazing. When the landscape crews come in with lots of “simulated tropical foliage” suited for a Midwest climate I’ll get on board with your argument. Until then it’s a bright, freshly painted building with a theme inconsistent room. Time will tell how it all wraps up.

  14. It's a forum. We noticed the new paint on the walls and now are discussing the roof. Most topics of construction will be dissected here as we receive updates.

  16. What Flight of Fear really needs is some new trains, those would do wonders to extending the life of that ride. They might be the worst in the park in my opinion

  19. An additional argument. Could we please get another coaster manufacturer for our next install before we look at another B&M model. I enjoy our three B&M's, but it's time for some variety.

  20. I think the Surf coaster is a misstep. Stand ups died off for a reason, and the ones already running have their lines die off quickly. I'm not sure they will take off again unless B&M found a way to make them significantly more comfortable. EDIT: I finally saw the trains in pictures, the vest restraints should help, but bicycle seats + stand up + positive G's = mass discomfort. Also, I've had my fare share of bus rides where I was forced to ride standing up, and I will say that wasn't very ideal, so the thought of doing a launched stand up coaster sounds like a bad idea. High speeds and larger elements also contribute to higher positive G's which is what you don't want a lot of on a stand up. At parks with stand ups, I always ride them early as if I ride them later, my legs really don't like it after walking around a lot. The layout at Sea World has an inversion, a horseshoe, and several helices, curves and s-bends. Also, all stand ups by default don't have the best capacity due to having to manually adjust each seat to each rider. I remember Mantis and Green Lantern at NJFTP having pretty slow dispatch times and constantly stacking all the trains and having 28-32 seats to adjust and check.

  21. Aside from there was no way Bat would have ever been successful the way it was designed, the functional suspended coaster design never became a major draw for parks and only a select few are considered a success. I believe Vortex had way more exposure & success to KI than a suspended coaster would have. And the rest is history.......
