The park has asked KICentral to relay a public notice to the general public that they will be patrolling their property. Anyone found to be on their property - including passenger pickup area - will be asked to leave. The park has done a extremely good job keeping their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram up to date during the off season as well as sending in photos to KICentral that I'm sure they will film/photograph and send it out through the channels before we even know its testing. Thank you.13 points

I mean, something was happening over there, but I couldn't tell what since there's snow and it's so far away. You didn't miss much. In other news.. In case anyone was wondering where Clifford went! This may or may not, or probably isn't the actual one but.... tee hee, gentlemen, tee hee.11 points

Capture from the Diamondback Construction Cam on this date in 2009..... As you can see, two trains were already assembled and on the storage track. The first test runs began about 1 week 1/2 after this date. (The last week of February) Maybe we'll see a similar time frame for the start of Banshee test runs......10 points

Wouldn't it be awesome if inside the UFO was a pre-show? Instead of the movie being played while waiting, which means less people are actually paying attention, make the riders watch it. There could be a door before the staircase up to the UFO and a door at the end of the UFO. When each pre-show is done, they load up the riders onto the ride. I'm not talking a long pre-show, maybe 3 minutes that just sums up what's happening. Or, possibly, they could still show the movie in the queue, but add onto it with a pre-show. I don't know. I like pre-shows...!8 points

No ride should be re-themed at KI because as a former worker who strived to get theme working again, I was always let down by the Tech Services crew who did nothing to keep it alive. Remember the theme lights that were rusting away in The Beast station that magically returned one day in 2012, that wasn't Tech Services, that was from another department who hated seeing the theme become gone and forgotten (which again was not their responsibility). Remember TRTR... not much needs to be said on that, if anything it proved that this park is unable to retain high theme.8 points

Wow! Welcome Back!(?) I can think of some clever things that can be done with the latest LED wall technologies in the queue of Flight of Fear, such as moving star/planetscapes, etc. But, that's only if I had 1. A million dollars and 2. Greg's Job. PS: Any new books coming out?8 points

I think Diamondbacks station design was rather simple which allowed for it to be completed much faster, also taking into account that we've had a very harsh winter this year, and lastly, Banshee's Photo Booth is under the station. When it's finished its going to look unbelievable!7 points

I'm guessing the media is over-sensationalizing it and blowing it out of proportion. More than likely it's a typical, safe e-stop.7 points

CP's wouldn't be ideal for more than 2 dolphins, (since it was just a tad larger in depth) it certainly isn't large enough to raise a baby in though, all dolphins need to be able to swim in a straight line so the baby can nurse more effectively and all those tanks were way too round. KD actually did have a calf born there in 1986 but he didn't live more than a day. (on the MMIR I have for KD they listed cause of death as pneumonia for the calf) CP had a lot of algae in their pool for a bit as well, while algae is more than abundant in the wild so it doesn't actually hurt the dolphins themselves, it just didn't look good for the customers. Of course in the 80's-90's I don't think a lot of people cared then, but if it was like that today, CP probably face their own sh*tstorm like SeaWorld is now. I got into a debate with a activists over CP's awhile back. I got my issues with it but I know algae don't kill the animals. This particular activist was a perfect example of one who can not make up their minds...a pool covered with algae (which is everywhere in the wild, I know), or a pool so clean the animals get sunburns from the sunlight penetrating the surface. I feel like I am hijacking a thread about KI so here is a throwback. kingsisland7 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr7 points

I don't necessarily think we need a re-theme, but a refresh. New lighting, I'd say a little bit of a reconfiguration of the queue, paint goes a long way on objects, newer tvs in the queue, with programming that's a little bit more up to date. I don't think Farscape would be a good idea, as I had to Google it and I don't believe most would know what it was. Edit-- Oops! I was not thinking on that one. Capitalization has been changed to avoid being in violation of the TOS.7 points

I'm even more amazed that a member of their staff got upset over how much we were discussing Kentucky Kingdom...and quit posting here. An innate sense of what helps the park is sadly lacking. Like announcing the coaster on a social network at nearly midnight on a Saturday night. The mind...boggles. Even under Mr. Hart the first time around, The Thrill Park was never known for its stellar marketing. Ironically, the positioning of the park as The Thrill Park was the sole bright and shining exception. One wonders what it is the PR folk ARE doing each day to promote the park. Perhaps they are so understaffed that it is doing group sales and mailing out season passes. Perhaps, like park cleanup, they need to solicit volunteers to market the place.6 points

Makes no sense that pictures such as the ones above or at least information of the supports/track arriving at the park was not revealed by Kentucky Kingdom. The lack of proper or more like.....any type of PR is baffling.6 points

I like it how it is. The video is kinda corny, but it's enjoyable. I'd be happy with some TLC in the queue and maybe some new lighting effects in the ride.6 points

Sorry for bringing this back from a page ago, but Terp you are correct. Not 100% correct. Adding on to chugh43, also note that each state has its own set of laws regarding Rides and Attractions. Let alone the United States. That coaster is in Japan… Don't think they are gonna have the same set of rules/regulations that the state of Ohio would have.6 points

Need a comedy show like, whose line is it anyway? Audience participation is always great and makes each show unique. A good 30 minute family friendly comedy.5 points

82 Pages of discussion about the New Kentucky Kingdom and like Terpy said they were upset with some well deserved criticism. 82 pages of discussion is more generated PR than "They" have done for their park... Some may say what is the value in a site like this? Ever wonder why KI PR is very interested with the goings on within this site? Sites like this and others can be a great asset for parks, if properly managed. This is not the Field of Dreams, just because you build it does not mean people will come: See Hard Rock Park...5 points

There have been some rumblings in the Indy legal community of which I belong that the two sides have been engaged in off and on settlement discussions quietly and out of the public eye--as it should be. If settlement talks reach a certain point, court dates will likely get pushed back. As mentioned before, there are a lot of moving parts here, so stay tuned.5 points

Fungus is a risk, but it can be mitigated with good hygiene and by using footwear in shower/changing areas. Parasite infections are exceedingly unlikely at a waterpark with property treated water and hard surfaces. Beaches, even on the ocean, are much more worrisome in this regard. By the way, you forgot to mention HPV (causing plantar warts). The risk seems to be low for most people, especially when taking precautions like using footwear in the most high-risk areas. Supposedly, most adults are already immune. Those worried should simply avoid going barefoot in public places. The cleanliness of the park has a substantial effect on the risk of any infection. Severely overcrowded parks (like KI's Soak City) are a lot more worrisome than parks with a reasonable attendance limit that get sanitized nightly (like Disney's waterparks or Great Wolf Lodge). The last time I was at KI's Soak City, the overpowering smell of disinfection byproducts ("chlorine smell") was enough to make me get out of there quickly. This is a sign of water that's excessively soiled.5 points

While looking for my Monday morning fix I found a picture of one of the cars being hoisted into place on Kings Island's Instagram. I've mentioned this before; there is a 5-1/4" floppy drive disk on one of the computers that has been resting inside the que of FoF. I don't think it needs a retheme, hardly at all, and I wouldn't waste the money needed to make a new video for the que line, they're not going to get much bang for their buck there. However, you have to figure like most companies, there has to be a handful of computers that have more than exceeded their shelf life in the last 20 years at KI. Simply replacing their old models with the 5-1/4" drives with newer computers wouldn't make the que feel quite as dated. In my opinion, they could give an internship (paid or unpaid) to someone or a group of someones at the the Cincy School for the Conservation of Arts (I'm not sure the exact name, I know that is close, but its suppose to be a very good school). They should have a number of qualified people who are experienced putting together stage sets for plays, that could use those skills to update the que for FoF.5 points

I like it the way it is because since it's indoors and stuff I feel like I walked into the 90's. It's just a kind of illusion and I love it the way it is.5 points

I love the theming the way it is now with the whole alien thing. However, I will agree with the whole "refresh" idea. I wouldn't mind a different video in the queue and perhaps some newer electronic devices placed near the flying saucer instead of the 1980s computer components. Other than that, it works just great for me!5 points

A very sad commentary on how money and greed can destroy a family and potentially what was a very happy place. No time to grieve for the loss of a loved one, because folks were already making their moves to gain power and control. How very sad.5 points

I completely agree about the video. If they changed/removed the video, it wouldn't take very long to see "bring back the old FoF queue video!"-type posts on KIC, for good reason. At this point it's pretty much become nostalgic. Plus I'm a dork and still get excited if I'm on the camera when they do one of those "we let the public in there!" look-ins on the queue, haha. I'm probably in the minority but I think the queue is fine. I think it's one of the best-themed queues at KI. Plus it's pretty dark in there, so it's not like you need too many intricate details or anything. I like the overall theme as well. I say keep it as is.5 points

Id actually love to see some sort of parade come back. I dont think they had one since the Nick parade.4 points

The only thing I would change is moving the camera. When the video plays and says something about the crowd, seeing people in line and not an empty queue line would be better. I love the theming even though I find it a bit cheesy. I think the "cheese" adds charm. I have said many times I wish they would redo the video. I do realize the majority of guests do not go to the park 3-4 times a year (or our 16-20 times a year) and they probably would not notice the changed video. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Cargo shorts aren't a lady killer... Cause you could always be that guy and buy a pair and carry your ladies stuff so she doesn't have to. And use the "I wanna be able to hold your hand" line. Works so well.. Plus AE cargo shorts are beautifully comfy. Only close second are ABU pants or scrubs .. Btw I'm glad my girlfriend isn't on here sometimes...one must not learn ones secrets hehe4 points

Honestly, just the fact that we have an indoor, dark coaster is enough for me haha If it were to be rethemed, I hope it wouldn't be off a movie or anything because licenses run out, and we all know what kind of tacky things can happen when we suddenly aren't allowed to have a goddess-- I mean, certain things anymore.3 points
