  1. We have guests that are more excited about our live shows than our roller coasters, that visit the park specifically for the shows. For these guests, the Cirque Imagine announcement was as exciting as the news was to others that we were building Banshee.

  2. And to the bellyachers/whiners who moan it's not a ride: Not a single person watching a show, waiting for a show, walking to the show or walking back from the show is in front of you for a ride. Then again, showgoers have stronger demographics and buy more in the park, including most probably Fast Lane. They often are the admission buyers, who decide whether to go to a park, or can veto it, taking their money elsewhere. Banshee cost tens of millions. This show probably not even two. I'd go so far as to say that the show will have a shorter ROI (return on investment), though it will have a shorter lifespan. The show will be different three years from now. It is hoped Banshee will be evergreen--the same 20 years from now as on April 18, 2014. Or April 17.

  3. It's a little disappointing how negative some people are about an awesome show coming to an awesome park. Might I add after we get a 20+ million dollar coaster, and a retheming of another. It's sad because this is supposed to be a fan site.

  4. Perhaps Kings Island is being wed this year. Look at what the major announcements for 2014 so far: Something old: Flight Deck becoming The Bat Something new: Banshee Something borrowed: Cirque Imagine brought over from CW Something blue: Banshee twist ice cream returns. -homestar92, who has realized he should probably get some sleep now...

  5. My question is how can you like or not like something you haven't experienced first hand? I was always brought up, that you don't judge a book by its cover. I see this as an added value to the price of admission. How much would going to a show of this caliber cost outside the park? $50?$75??? Also, I believe most that are complaining are young folks that have not experienced what it's like taking care of a child, and the need for a rest period during that time. A good show is a great way to enjoy that rest period.

  6. Anything they add to the park and guest experience is a good thing for the park and for us.

  7. You know, if you don't care about the show, there's no need to complain about it. Kings Island is getting Banshee, a thrilling coaster made by B&M. You are more than adequately supplied in the thrill department. This show doesn't detract from your experience but it may add to other guests experiences in the park.

  8. Hello I am new here to KIC and I am very excited for Banshee! By the way I have met Matt Ouimet as you can see in my profile picture. How I met him is on opening day for Gatekeeper I was exiting the ride while he was entering and realized it was him. I told my family who it was ... they thought I was crazy. We waited until he got off and then my dad went up to him and said my son thinks that you are the CEO of Cedar Fair. He replied, "Your son is a very smart man." I then talked to him for about ten minutes and he said maybe one day I will have is job.

  10. I was looking through pictures of Kings Island on Instagram and stumbled upon a fly-over picture of Banshee, taken just a few hours ago. The picture at the link below is probably one of the best Banshee pictures I have seen. Truly incredible view! pilotjustin95 on Instagram

  11. So I'm a weirdo for having my cartilage pierced? Um... yeah... THAT'S the reason you're a weirdo... we'll go with that! In my usual day-to-day activities, I normally wouldn't associate with people with piercings anywhere besides their ears, or with gauges in their ears. But having worked Haunt, I've gotten to know quite a few and become friends with some, and they are some very fine people indeed! Never judge a book by its cover, it's what's on the inside that counts, and any other folksy saying you can think of that can apply to this conversation.

  15. Long-time park visitors will find the caliber of this show ranks right up there with the shows they saw in the KI Theater in the 1970's and 1980's.

  16. ^Oh, the irony. You disliked Ed Alonzo's show because of the provocative dressing, yet you're a Boomerang Bay fan, in which much more skin was/is on display.

This is just another tweet from @KingsIslandPR on Twitter as more and more footers and constructionness began to pop up. https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/statuses/350705349910736899 Just 34 days until Banshee Media Day and Scream for A Kid Again, and 35 more days until Opening Day 2014! 20. Sure wanted to see a Flying Eagle, but great addition to the Park, for an Amusement park. The Amusement Park does not mean just rides, but the atmosphere, the shows, the landscaping, the fun, the Rides, or would we not just call it a Ride Park.

  21. As was mentioned, there are a lot of season pass holders here. I like to switch out activities in the park. One day nothing but Coney Island, another day nothing but coasters. There's days I just want to walk around and take in things, like watching shows.

  23. I'm excited about this. To those who think it's a terrible decision or that you'd rather do something else, I get that, but be thankful the park actually wants to have something in the Theater, because they could chose to leave it empty.

  24. ^^ No, the announcement was not a ripoff. They did not promise anyone anything that they didn't deliver. The show is an attraction for all ages, and it appeals to more audiences than the typical Cedar Fair musical revue. As with any other short-notice online announcement of an announcement from Cedar Fair, people blew it way out of proportion.

  26. We were in line for FoF behind a group of teens that had a lot of piercings. People looked at them weird, they were whispering about them. We started talking to them. They were really great guys and gals. I will say when I started talking to them, they looked at me weird. I guess "normal" people like me don't often start talking to then very often. However, I will talk to about anyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  28. I'm just curious, is there anyone on this forum that will be driving a good distance just to ride Banshee like me? I am coming from Phoenix for opening day. I would fly, but I want to stop at 2 or 3 parks on the way back. Is anyone else driving from further away?

  33. Honestly, then that's on you. Its not like KI did something to miss lead you, they announced their new show on facebook, people shouldn't have been expecting something "big". I think Don recognizes the love of the Eagles in these parts, if something like that was coming back, I'm sure he would have played it up a lot more. Its one thing to hope that a seemingly small announcement is going to be something that you really, really love, but you have to prepare yourself that its going to be something more "standard"

  34. Are all of the fences for the lockout zones of Banshee up yet? If they aren't my guess would be that they will not test Banshee until the perimeter fences are set up at the low points. Doesn't seem safe to test a ride without the lockout zones finished.

  35. As for the person in one of the above posts, I actually think Kings Islands Live Shows are great! It just adds to your great day at KI. Theirs nothing wrong with them announcing a show instead of a new attraction. Were already getting Banshee And The Bat ( I know The Bat is not a new ride, but the GP will think it is). So enjoy Kings Island. Dont get mad at them cause they announced a new show instead of a new ride.

  38. Im personally very excited. I love roller coasters but I will take time out of my day to watch a show. It looks like the Entertainment department was thinking of a new type of show instead of a musical. It look like the Circle in AZ is laid out as two circles so I think it maybe a fountain. I mean we are already getting Banshee for Gods sake we are lucky we are not a neglected park when it comes to rides unlike some parks(VF, MA, MS&CF)

  44. Well it's unfortunate that these guys aren't receiving love. I love this kind of stuff, performances of aerobatics, flashy tricks that take either athleticism or tons and tons of practice. Like just alone the guys doing some tumbling with the corks and such... Just that alone I love watching. Maybe I just like a wide variety of show entertainment, but I'm happy for this show, and I hope they have a performance on Tuesday.. Or at least after or before my shift. I would clock out and make my way over to the park to see this.

  45. One can do both. Just wait. The day will come when some spieling (bleck) grasshopper will kindly advise you that the ride you were about to board is perhaps too rambunctious for you. For me, it was Jumping Jack Flash aka Jump2 at Great Advencha, about a decade ago. I looked the lad in the eye and sternly advised "I will be the judge of that, young man!" Then proceeded to ride it about six times in a row (it was a rainy Thursday).
