Sometimes I don't get it. I don't care that there's Italian-ish or Chinese food in the Festhaus. I get that. But if you are going to turn The Racer around, bring back Knievel and Wallenda, etc. all in the name of nostalgia, why not make the effort to get this thing going too? It's no Eiffel Tower, but it was still a fixture in that part of the park for a long time. It's not going to be long before parents tell their kids, 'Back when I was a kid, there used to be a Glockenspiel up there. It played the chicken dance. It was so neat!" To me, the cavalier destruction of things from the past while patting yourself on the back in the name of nostalgia is a type of hypocrisy. I'm not against progress. You'll notice in my rant about the world's best kids' area I never said that it shouldn't have changed. Simply that what my generation had was particularly special. This, however, isn't progress. It's about parts, labor, and budgets. Perhaps one day it will return.14 points

I couldn't find a topic specifically on Skyplex, so I suppose this topic will have to do. For those unaware, a 570-foot roller coaster was announced for Orlando's International Drive last June. The ride was part of a $200 million development that also included ground level stores, a tower-top restaurant and observation deck, and a 1,500 car parking garage. Am edited POV of the attraction was released today, showcasing the new thrill ride's unique connection of twists, turns, and inversions. It definitely looks like an exciting ride: http://vzaar.com/videos/22860787 points

Would be nice to get some German food in the Festhaus. A bratwurst and potato pancake sounds good.7 points

When I was at Kings Island this summer i noticed the Festhaus has now lost all of its exterior theming including the clock, to go with the interior lose several years back. Is this the look going forward for the building, A big gerneric building for a food court and show? I remember way back, pre-Paramount, when it had great theming both inside and out. I Wish some of the off season improvements would include bringing back some of the building's theme.6 points

A. Add up ALL the rides. I believe you will find more 2014 rides than 2013. B. If Diamondback had no bins, I bet capacity would improve markedly.6 points

It looks like it will be a single attraction in the plaza, so I don't expect super long lines. Probably will cost $15 to ride...kind of like an attraction in Vegas.6 points

I apologize if this has been posted before, I could not find a topic with it. Four amusement park industry veterans founded a new amusement ride company, Skyline Attractions, LLC, back in July. Three of the men were former employees of Great Coasters International. Over the course of the following few months, the company continually teased their first project. A few weeks back, it was finally announced: Strike-U-Up, a piece of their Games-U-Ride line. Earlier today, the company announced its second attraction, Spin-U-Win. Both attractions look like fun experiences, albeit nothing major. I could easily see major amusement parks installing them as simple games without giving way too much media attention to them.5 points

I always hoped that they would get the clock fixed. For years the characters were just up there, stuck, not doing anything. I remember as a kid when we were near there, wanting to stop and wait for the clock to go off so I could see the characters come out and do their thing. For years I kept looking up at the clock, hoping to see that something was fixed. It was to my shock this year, when I looked up and saw that the clock was gone completely. My hopes for the clock being repaired were smashed to pieces. I understand things need to change, but this didn't need to.5 points

Wow....Just wow.... I now see how much I underestimated this ride before seeing this video....... This video has definitely made me have a change of heart about this ride...... Folks....If this comes to fruition.....It'll be a ride to be reckoned with....5 points

That would fit a lot better than Panda Express...although I love me some Panda Express no matter where it is located:)5 points

The movie is only a year out now and new still were released today. And an article on the movie: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2014/11/16/peanuts-movie-sneak-peek/18975553/4 points

I can just hear the conversation, circa 1979: Kid 1: "Hey guys, the guy who carves wood over at the wood-carving booth's name is... get this... Woody!" Kid 2: "Wow! Maybe, one day in the future, you'll work somewhere here to, Dippindot!" Kid1: "Naw. Not likely. Nope."4 points

Of course I should say Hanna Babera Land, that's when I was a kid, but honestly, Planet Snoopy looks fantastic, and the kids look happy there. I found Nickelodeon to look too depressing, too grunge.4 points

It is interesting to note that a "German Sausage Platter & Sauerkraut" dish was available from the Festhaus as part of the 2014 dining plans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

This was, to me at least, one of the most devastating things that has happened at the park in many years. The park, and its guests have lost something special, and this thing that many very people consider special, others might consider "simple" and yes, it is, but then again, it's still special. All one can do is hope that it is brought back and turned into something as special as it was before....... ....One day.....My friends....3 points

If they dont add block brakes, capacity is going to be a nightmare. I give it 15 years before it goes SBNO....3 points

Yes, it made good money with plenty of hours. Shockingly, this was still not enough initiative to some employees to be reliable. I am starting my recruitment early to try and find people who actually want to make that a friendly environment.3 points

Being the great great grandson of a German immigrant, I for one would love to see some love given to the Festhaus. I was very dissapointed at the begining of the season to see that the clock was removed. Oktoberfest as a whole has been behind, but with the addition of the Christian Moerlein Biergarten, the park does somewhat seem to be bringing that are into the right direction. I have eaten at the new biergarten a few times and I have to say, it was rather good. When I first ate there, it served German Potato Salad on the side of the bratwurst and saurkraut sandwich I had purchased, however that was not the case this past season. So with that addition, it would be great to see the Festhaus restored again, to compliment that area a little more.3 points

My family and I stopped here a year or two ago, very nice store. Friendly family running it. Great selection of Christmas decorations and gifts. We got a few Christmas ornaments when we went, and most things seemed to be reasonable priced. The store also had the wonderful Christmas scent throughout.3 points

And, as it turns out, you can build a roller coaster without turning forests into barren fields. Who knew?! Via Twitter. I guess it simply depends on the park's priority. If they say, "We're willing to go out of our way to keep this area planted," it happens. Otherwise....3 points

This is one of the songs I recall playing during my visit during Haunt in September... Fun Fact: This song also played on The Beast's lift hill from 2009 (at least) to I think around 2011 or so. In 2012 it was changed to a song from Lost. Oddly enough, no music was playing on Beast during my Haunt visit, as if it had given up its soundtrack for the park to use...3 points

Although this isn't "directly" Kings Island related, since the holiday season is coming soon... We've all see signs for the "Christmas Shop" that is located in the suburban area behind Kings Island. Has anyone visited? Dane and I stopped in one time just to look around. This was probably ten years ago. They had all sorts of collectibles and stuff. Really nice people running the shop. Probably a family. Just for the sake of conversation, has anyone ever shopped there? How long has it been there? (I remember the signs from when I was a kid) geoview.info Their web site: http://www.kingschristmas.com/2 points

Something similar to the Curse of Darkastle at Bush Gardens Williamsburg would be cool and could be used during The Haunt too.2 points
-
Awesome. This isn't just a grab at a world record like I had initially thought. The coaster is actually very cool! Nice pacing, nice rhythm, not too repetitive either! This coaster can compete with coasters at the world-renowned parks! Now... let's just see how long this stays smooth.. let's see how well maintenance is prioritized.2 points

I wouldn't exactly say that the longer lines would decrease ridership, if anything it should help increase it since people standing in line means there is a steady stream of people getting on the ride, what should matter is how fast that stream of people are getting on it to ride.2 points

Thats my favorite one. Makes me look around more and makes the place creepier to me when it plays.2 points

Snoopy is definitely more relevant than Popeye. Popeye isn't very marketable, because kids don't know who he is, but that's probably why Universal markets Dr. Seuss and other stuff instead. https://www.universalorlando.com/Theme-Parks/Islands-of-Adventure/For-Young-Children.aspx Peanuts is a good long term choice because they are less effected by time. Nickelodeon was the opposite. All the recognizable characters change every few years. They really were fortunate that Rugrats and SpongeBob had such longevity from a marketing stand point. I'm a big Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, but it would be weird if Snoopy's Surf Dog was still themed to Avatar. That show ended 6 years ago and the ride would feel pretty dated at this point. I wish Nintendo would sell their licensing for stuff like this. Mario, Pokemon etc. are super easy to market. I just wonder what it would cost...2 points

There are a lot of low income apartments or small privately owned apartment buildings in Loveland if you stay out of the overpriced yuppy-ville neighborhoods, and it's like 10 minute drive to KI without dealing with the highway. Also I live in Goshen (right next to Milford) and I work very close to KI and it's only a 20 minute drive to work using back roads through Loveland to get there, so Goshen and Milford are good options and relatively cheap. Cincinnati highway work traffic in general is atrocious so I suggest living anywhere you an get to workvia an alternate route.2 points

Oh yah- mid- eighties. For me, the 80's were like "All Tommorrow's Parties" without the tears. The only way I survived the club scene was due to thrift stores and a good sewing machine. I had a pair of capris pants made from curtains. Call me Scarlet.2 points

Down time, plus the back car running empty after that. 4 riders per cycle adds up.2 points

Wow $8.50?! Kentucky's minimum wage is at $7.25 and the starting salary of a ride op is above that... color me shocked! One would think that with such a high demand for jobs that the salary would be at a bare minimum especially if a penny pincher is in charge...2 points
-
If anyone on here lives in or near Louisville and would like a job at Kentucky Kingdom let me know! I can almost guarantee you a job in the rides department. Consistent with the reviews we get (rides department has the highest marks of all departments) Mr. Hart has little to no interaction with us if that persuades you any. Starting pay last year was $8.50 and I would imagine it would be similar or the same this year. Just let me know!2 points

I have been to that store many times. I would go there with my family after we browsed around at my schools craft show. It is a nice old building. They sell a book about the history of the nearby Peter's Cartridge plant across the Little Miami River.2 points

But more importantly, what does the fox say? In all seriousness, I don't know anything about the cow talk, but I do know that Sam offered me some bacon on my second time through his place (of which I refused, for I do not like bacon.).2 points

What does the cow say? Moo. What does the cat say? Meow. Terp (being catty), who learned this as a two year old...and doubts it has changed.2 points

Probably a better place for families than Fright Fest at Six Flags America....1 point

Absolutely acceptable. Each person poops, probably vomits at least once or twice in their life, urinates, this park just chooses to portray that. I have no issue with it. However, parents have to decide what is acceptable for their family and what is not acceptable.1 point

People in this country tend to be way too uptight about things. Some of the stuff I've seen in videos of European parks really proves that.1 point

This stuff is perfectly acceptable in many of the less uptight countries in the world. In other words, anywhere but the USA. Everyone should experience life outside of the US, even if it is just for a day. I had a great two years in Germany and would love to go back......permanently.1 point
