I finally got to apply for a job at Kings Island, now being 15 years old! Is there any tips anyone can give me that would be helpful leading up to the interview? Or after?9 points

I have stated before. I have a little guy. There are very few places we can go in the park for him to nap while we sit. We can go into the kid changing area (which is awesome by the way, Air conditioning, changing tables, clean bathrooms, Charlie Brown cartoons for the little guy to calm down, wonderful) but sometimes on a nice day it would be nice to sit in a location and people watch while he sleeps in the chair or wagon. We can go to the Chicken Shack because it's covered or ??? I wish Tower Gardens was not a smoking area and was just a pleasant spot to sit. Same with the smoking area in Coney Mall. Dead smack dab in the middle of the walk way. The only nice place with tree covering. And wait where is the KI hall of fame?9 points

Being one of the dreaded smokers, I still have to agree. When the fountains ran it was a wonderful place to just relax awhile. With it's size I could even see moving the smoking area to the back corner. I've never been in there with more than 5 or 6 people smoking at a given time. The area is way to big and scenic, ( or was), to be used only for a smoking area. When the water elements ran, it really was quite tranquil.8 points

Make sure you are well groomed and dressed appropriately. Best of luck.8 points

Try not to be nervous about the interview, and just answer the questions as honestly as you can. They're not looking for expert answers - they just want to make sure you're serious about the position and will be a good employee. I'm sure they'll take the fact that this will be your first job into account as well. What department(s) did you apply for?8 points

And please, I dont want anyone to think, I want all of the smokers out of the park. I am fine with them being in the park and having an area, I just question the locations that KI has put them in. Off the top of my head here are the locations that are smoking areas In Coney Mall, located in the middle of the strip just past basketballs before you get to the Cafe, treed, benches, middle of the midway. In RIvertown, 2-4 benches located infront of the Potato Works next to the Basketballs, 2 feet from the main path Tower Gardens (as mentioned before). Not sure if there are any other locations but we seriously couldnt find any better locations that are just off of the main path? In Coney Mall, you have an abandoned ride Pad next to Dinos Alive (throw some benches and maybe some umbrellas and it would be nice and off the path or down near The Vortex just past the bathrooms. In Rivertown you have an abandoned Que area that goes back just far enough off of the main path. Centrally, anywhere but Tower Gardens. As No Chickens said, you could put it in the corner....6 points

I still like the idea of sidewalk cafe type venue there. Its perfect for a relaxing meal and family time. The back of the "It's Fried" (think thats the name) could be expanded to serve as the kitchen/ covered table area.(for inclement weather days).and fix the dang fountains....love them for their beauty and relaxing flowing sound.6 points

Sorry for the double-post but I just HAD to when I saw this view..... Why can't that area just be a calm and peaceful place? Some kids (and even adults) get overstimulated and need a tranquil place to calm and recenter themselves. Instead of making the long trek back to the hot car, a short walk to Tower Gardens would be great alternative. Fix the fountain, add some more benches and, as NoChickens mentioned, maybe a smaller smoking area in the back, and Tower Gardens could be quite a gem.5 points

There are other areas.....you not knowing this is a good indication of their proper placement.5 points

They will be hard pressed to meet the measly attendance goal. The newness has worn off and the new attractions this year will not be enough to jump attendance 50,000 - 75,000 visitors. The reduced staffing will impact in-park experience, the fair attendance is on a downward spiral, and Marketing is not their strong suit; these are just a few factors that will impact this season that Hart and company have no idea how to compensate for.5 points

^ I had to go back and re-read the post immediately prior to yours. I tried imagining how anyone could get away with curling up on a bench to catch a few z's, and was like, "Oh, yeah. Babies, duh."5 points

Look sharp, and be honest. I remember being in your shoes, it's a new way of seeing things and being a part of the fun at Kings Island. I do hope you get the job, and I do wish you the best of luck!5 points

Agree that something needs to be done with it. It is a nice area that is just wasted by being used as a designated smoking area. The café area would be a good idea or a flat ride but think that might take away some of the beauty of the area when there is plenty of open field space next to BLSC or by the turnaround on the brake run of Diamondback to develop flat rides around the base of the Eiffel Tower.5 points

Stop the smoking there, fix the fountain, and make part of it a cool mist area to operate when its hot outside. Make it pretty and pleasant.5 points

And I will NOT be at Kings Island opening day this year. I will be getting married to the love of my life that day! And then the next day we are off to our honeymoon in Southern California, where we will be indulging in some Disney fun (although we are both slightly bummed that both Matterhorn and Soarin` will be down for rehabs when we are out there.5 points

At least historically, Dive Machines are not about tight maneuvers, forceful inversions, and quick pacing like inverts are. They're about giant, over-sized inversions, power, sweeping turns, and, in a sense, "grace." And they're good at it! Being on that end seat during the Immelmann is like nothing else. It would be weird to market. The wide winged trains? Already got it, with Gatekeeper. The 90 degree drop? Maverick already beats it. The height? Definitely beat by Millennium and Dragster. Those of us who have been on Wing Riders, Dive Machines, and Maverick know they're incredibly different from each other, but the public might pick up on that and plaster it all over Facebook. "I DON'T CARE ABOUT A VERTICAL DROP. Maverick, Twister, and Dragster already have them. WHY AREN'T WE GETTING A 500 FOOT COASTER?"4 points

I used to go there in the Paramount days specifically for an afternoon sit and relax. The ambient noise of the fountain and birds was an attraction in itself. A table and a drink in the heat of the day was sometimes the best attraction of the entire day. Nothing like the Tower Gardens anywhere within 50 miles of where I live so it was a special treat.4 points

The lowballing for the 2015 attendance goal is to assure it is met so that the tax incentives don't have to be repaid. Tell the state one thing while being a bombastic showman at the Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the country club. Not at alll unlike the barber with two sets of books. Or the movie studio with three or more. Oh, wait, what other business are Hart, Lunsford & Co. in? Yep. Movies. A mere coincidence, I'm sure. Kentucky Kingdom: The best in Frankfort/Louisville Democrat Politics: Now Playing. Where the bombast of Ed Hart meets the thrill park of the Nineties. At the Fairgrounds. Get there while you still can. And please tell the Gatekeeper if you are from out of state! Please.4 points

This might be a bit silly, but KI has well no king... How would you feel about KI actually having a King and his guards, joker, even his personal band roaming about the park? Also able to get pictures with? Or even going as far as having a whole new themed area to accompany him?3 points

An area with an umbrella or 2 would be awesome, when the rain comes there is not 1 covered area to go to. Unless even I have missed one.3 points

I like it how they refer to HCB as "The Bay" oh the nostalgia, and oh the confusion to the commoner. Look, I like the park, it's small but it has some attractions that I like. I just don't understand how is it that Hart is trying to bring in less than a million visitors, I mean come on I'm sure that Tri-County gets more visitors than KK! The State Fair alone should allow guests into the park and have a broad spectrum of guests to enter and make some hard cash or KK will flop. Bad juju here, bad bad bad, I smell a flood coming, an Ark too?3 points

We found that out our first trip there and now try to avoid that area. It's a shame since it really is nice. I know smokers probably enjoy to have a smoking area there but nobody else does. I'm sure another spot could be found.3 points

Seeing as in recent years Ouimet has been striving to improve general park aesthetics, I wouldn't be surprised if this area gets at least some beautification in the next few seasons. I sure do hope so.3 points

In an answer to the original question..... How would I feel about that....? It would be the most horrible idea for a "mascot" in Kings Island history, honestly. Just because the name has the word "Kings" in it does NOT mean that it has or ever had anything to with an actual king or multiple kings. It didn't. That's almost like saying that because the word "Island" is in the name that we should move the whole park to an island. Any form of "mascot" dressed up as a "King" would just remind me of the Hart Park over in Louisville..... There's a reason why it's called Kings Island, and it has nothing to do with an actual island or king.3 points

That flat ride sounds nice. It might be a bit out of the way considering it's in sort of a low traffic area. Personally, I don't ever notice the garden at all when walking through there.2 points

I pictured a roving band of 10-15 bad Elvis impersonators...Short Elvis, Fat Elvis, Vegas Elvis, El Vez, 6'11" Elvis, Korean Elvis, Satanic Hellvis, Tortelvis, Melvis, GI Blues Elvis, and some others. Would be good and terrible.2 points

http://kifansite.com/files/2013/01/opening-spring-1972-580x300.jpg This is the only picture I have seen that has something to do with something king related, as you notice the crown above. I'm not quite sure that a king would fit in Kings Island now, unless of course a new area was themed, then I would be all in for it. Next topic, we discuss the relocation of Kings Island to an actual island.2 points
