  1. Not to mention, if Fury is anything like Leviathan, it will be a bit of a sleeper. From POVs, Leviathan looked like just a taller B&M Hyper. After riding it, the experience was SO different.

  2. Thank you guys so much for liking the countdown to Opening Day thing I'm doing. It's been fun doing this and helps the offseason go by faster! Now back to the countdown... Hey, look outside! Snow is melting and temperatures are getting warmer. You know what that means... Well yes it means that snow is melting and temperatures are getting warmer but it also means that we are getting closer to Opening Day! How close you may ask? 39 days my friends!! 4. I just saw someone comment online that Dragster is taller, faster, and more fun than Fury. I'm jealous. If this guy knows that Fury is less fun, then he mush have ridden it. I wish they would have let me ride it early, too...

  5. ^ Thank you for not towing the party line. One of the only things I don't like about this site is the amount of Kool-Aid some people go through. All criticism is not "being negative."

  6. Hi everyone! As you a lot of you are aware I have been a member here for a number of years and I have always been a big fan of the various polls (especially Mitch Hawker's) each year. It has been my desire to start my own poll for a few years now and with the Hawker Poll becoming a little less frequent in recent years (and seemingly not happening at all this year) I thought now is as good a time as any to jump into the fray. I would appreciate any feedback and hope you all cast your ballots before the deadline! Introducing the all new KASNAK COASTER POLL! The Kasnak Coaster Poll is a brand new poll of coaster enthusiasts from around the world that ranks wood and steel coasters together! Using enthusiast’s ballots similar to other coaster polls, the Kasnak Coaster Poll utilizes a point based system to rank coasters from around the world. How will ballots be scored?: Each ballot received will be scored using a points system. Each ballot will take 100 and divide it by the number of coasters on the ballot. The resulting number will be used to assign a point value to each coaster on the ballot, starting with 100. Example: We receive a ballot with 10 coasters on it. We take 100 and divide by 10, giving us 10. The top ranked coaster would receive 100 points, the second place coaster 90 points, the third place coaster 80 points and so on. After all ballots are received each coaster’s total points will be divided by the total number of riders to arrive at its final score. Scores will be calculated to the hundredth of a point. There will be a minimum number of riders needed to be included in the final results. This number will be based on the number of ballots received. This method serves a couple purposes. First of all it gives the opinions of seasoned riders a little more weight. For example the second place coaster of a ballot with 10 coasters would receive 90 points, but the second place coaster of a ballot with 100 coasters would receive 99 points. Secondly, we believe that it is the best way to give an accurate overall picture of how each coaster stacks up against its peers. Who can participate?: Anyone who has ridden a roller coaster and has an email address is welcome to participate! Whether you have ridden 5 coasters or 500+ we would love to see your ballot! How can I participate?: It’s easy! Using the guide below simply fill out your ballot and email it to coasterpoll@gmail.com! The voting for this year’s poll ends on Thursday, April 2nd at 11:59 pm EST. You will receive a confirmation email that your ballot has been received. When the tabulations are completed you will receive the results, as well as a copy of each submitted ballot to your email as well. I am working to get a website set up that will list the year by year results and ballots from each year. It may or may not be up in time for this year’s poll results. YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS WILL NEVER BE USED FOR ANY OTHER REASON THAN CONTACTING YOU WITH QUESTIONS, CONFIRMATIONS, OR RESULTS. Filling out your ballot: To fill out your ballot simply provide your name, email address, city, and state, followed by a ranked list of the coasters you have ridden, and the park each resides in. Please be sure to specify to the park for coasters that have the same name! You may include defunct coasters if you so desire, however they will be listed separately in the final results. The grouping method is absolutely acceptable if you have a large number of coasters ridden and do not want to/feel like ranking each individually. Having your ballot in an Excel spreadsheet with rank, coaster name, and park in three separate columns would be appreciated but is not required. The following coaster types will be group together (as seen, for example, on Mitch Hawker’s polls in the past) for the purposes on this poll. Favorite Vekome SLC Favorite Vekoma Boomerang Favorite Giant Inverted Boomerang Favorite Invertigo Favorite Schwartzkopf Shuttle Loop Favorite Intamin ZacSpin Favorite Ultratwister Favorite Skyloop XT150 Favorite Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster Favorite Eurofighter 320+ Favorite Looping Star Favorite Extened SC2000 Favorite Intamin Halfpipe Favorite Jet Star Favorite Wild Mouse Favorite Loop-Screw Favorite Wildcat Favorite Windstorm Favorite Spinning Wild Mouse Favorite Powered Coaster Favorite Arrow Corkscrew Favorite Vekoma Corkscrew Favorite Flitzer Favorite RC40/50 Favorite Zyklon Favorite Galaxi Favorite Zyklon Loop Favorite Jumbo Jet (Any) Favorite Tivoli Favorite Vekoma Family Suspended Coaster SAMPLE BALLOT: John Doe jdoe@gmail.com Orlando, FL 1. Favorite Vekoma SLC, N/A A little about me: My name is Vincent Kasnak Scott and I am a long time park and coaster enthusiast from Indiana. I am married and have a Shetland Sheep Dog named Wrigley. I have always looked forward to the various annual coaster polls as the highlight of my offseason. I wanted to create a poll that allows us to see how different types of coasters rank when they are all put on equal footing. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO EMAIL ME AT COASTERPOLL@GMAIL.COM!

  8. Acording to Mike Fehnel, Carowind's GM and Vice President, it was just residual water from the bleeding out of water from the some test dummies. https://twitter.com/mikefehnel/status/574723959779950594

  10. Well, I have ridden TTD.... That coaster is a lot of fun. Fury looks fun, but doesnt seem to offer up a largely different experience than other coasters I have ridden.... so for me I can confidently say without a doubt, that TTD may/should/probably could be more fun than Fury..... Well, I will not comment on anything that I have not been on. Having said that I prefer Magnum XL-200, Maverick, and MF (in that order) more so than TTD. WIth that logic, TTD is just a taller version of Xcelerator with one less element. An 18 second ride is not what I generally prefer over a 3 minute ride.

  11. They're still utilizing the billboard on the side of the building along I-75 near downtown as well. It currently says something about "OOTORB" (Out Of The Office Riding Banshee)

  12. Generally on most rides, with the exception of Firehawk and Backlot, if you ask about where to sit, they'll let you sit anywhere. It all depends on the crowds and other things of course.

  13. I'm partial to this video of the testing of Green Lantern: First Flight at SFMM, in which the water dummies' caps either came loose or were never properly attached, resulting in the water dummies launching water every which way and a long, drenching waterfall when the car momentarily stops at an MCBR: But that's me!

  16. Mine Train is by far the smoothest coaster I have ever been on. I don't know if Disney or Vekoma is more responsible for that, but I wouldn't be mad if a smooth family coaster like that came to Cedar Point eventually.

  20. Every coaster manufacture has made disappointments, Vekoma will forever be tarnished because of the cookie cutter SLC's. The Disney chain has 4 Big Thunder Mountain Railroads with only 2 of them being built by Vekoma. the one at Disneyland Resort that Derailed was built by Dynamic Structures. The cause ended up being from improper maintenance on Disney's behalf.

  21. Hey the Kool-aid is good!!! I agree though, I hate the seat belts....in 2010 as part of the crew, we were asked by the rides office if we thought the ride could use seat belts...we unanimously voted no. However, we were told if we had any complaints from guests saying their restraints weren't checked or checked properly, they'd be added as soon as possible. However, that was a different time than now.

  22. I say start it in X-Base behind Firehawk, make it head behind AE and Banshee into the boneyard and then back. It may be enough to put restrooms back there.

  27. That Green Lantern video reminds me of those suspended coasters that were loaded with water that passengers could spray those on the ground with as people walked by (examples: Nickelodeon Super Saturator, Roller Soaker).

  30. When I saw this topic the first term I saw was "InvertiBlow". How I miss the old days.... 2015 is a great year for me, KK, KI, HW, and the possible CW all of which are getting additions that I am somewhat excited for. (I'm afriad that my neck and head will hate me after T3)I can't wait to get back into the park, 2015 will be marathons on FE (which is IRONically made of it!), and relaxing evening runs on The Beast.

  31. I'm going to guess the seat belts had less to do with capacity than the assigning of seats, sending out not full trains and overall train operation.

  33. The other issue with turning the International Restaurant back into a full-service facility is that they'd need to update the furnishings. Even though retro is in these days, it would probably still seem too outdated for many. It seems like it was a very nice restaurant back in the day, as they even had a place for storing wine bottles.

  35. your point is? B&M builds a lot of coasters and hasn't done anything innovative since the 90's everything we have seen of recent has already been done successfully by another manufacture decade ago. You're looking at innovative the wrong way. He doesn't mean innovative towards the whole industry, but rather among themselves. The rides Vekoma are building are the same ones they've been building for decades, whereas B&M is soon opening their first launched coaster and just their second giga coaster.

  39. Hmm, don't remember seeing this before... Kings Island Drone Policy All drones (Unmanned Aerial Systems) are prohibited at (in) all Cedar Fair parks, including Kings Island, and any unauthorized drone(s) observed over Kings Island will be reported to the FAA and local law enforcement, regardless of its point of origin or operation. Drones may pose a potential safety risk and may violate Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. (https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/frequently-asked-questions) Seems that drones are all the rage right now.

  43. I love Adventure Express for many reasons. Not least of which because it is the only coaster at Kings Island enjoyed by my first real boyfriend and my husband (not the same person, even though there are other similarities, including the unfortunate reason neither of them really got into coasters). As a coaster enthusiast myself, I understand the tendency to focus on the big thrills. I hope the park, however, never forgets that most of us don't begin as enthusiasts, and some never become big thrill-seekers. There is a definite place for fun, mid-level thrills. Fingers still crossed for a little love on the theming. It adds that extra something for those who don't feel it is thrilling enough to bother with.
