  1. Interesting. Frontier Fling is located right next to Snake River Falls, which the park already announced was being removed for "future expansion". It seems the Snake River Falls replacement will also require Frontier Fling to be removed as well. As for Kings Island, I think Xtreme Skyflyer will stay at the park until they have something planned for its plot of land. All of the upcharge attractions that were removed in the chain recently, including our own Slingshot, were done to make way for some sort of future expansion. With The Vortex replacement rumored to be built for 2026, I think it'll be a few years before we see a major renovation to Action Zone. There are multiple attractions in that area that I could realistically see getting axe'd, and that includes EXtreme Skyflyer. Also, here's an image of Frontier Fling getting removed for those who don't want to join the Cedar Point Passholder's group.

  2. I agree, and I definitely think it needs more of an intimate setting. When it was in the former location, though a bigger location, the animal stalls, the patio heaters and off the path made it much better. As long as the menu features items with names that guests can determine what exactly they would be eating. I know a few years ago, I had to look up what exactly the menu items were. And as long as you can visit on the handful of dates that it is open: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/winterfest/attractions/international-restaurant-winter-buffet

  3. The Racer being open during the event because I personally like it better than Mystic Timbers. Love love love tinker's toy factory Thought I might try the buffet this year as I've never been in the International Street restaurant I also have the meal plan this time around so I am looking forward to getting food and hopefully some of the holiday offerings will be included on the meal plan

  4. The International Restaurant can then also be renamed to Mike’s Budget Buffet for Winterfest. ..On a serious note with the upgraded food offerings we have had this season. I’m hopeful that the buffet will follow suit.

  5. Probably not, unless you add the all season unlimited desert prestige superdo pass

  7. I must be missing what show was added..... What The Dickens was always fun...but that $10 Starbucks gift card apparently ran up too much they had to cut the otherwise low budget show. (BTW, that $10 Starbucks Gift Card was a nice gift!)

  8. I can attest to this. The experience was well worth it. Either.

  9. You haven't lived until you have eaten a buffet in the IR during Winterfest.

  10. Yeah I can see that gift card increasing the show budget quite a bit...and I did feel like the show was less attended last year. Will say that $10 gift card was a nice perk to a participating audience member. My dad got to play Scrooge once and he was doing really well until he had to dance a jig. (My dad doesn't dance and whatever he did looked like a peanuts costume character dance that was kinda ridiculous) Overall great show and it'll be missed.

  11. CP’s Frontier Sling is currently being disassembled. No official word on why from CP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1988602284500537/posts/looks-like-something-else-might-be-on-the-way-out/9348629118497780/? If it’s being removed, how much longer before KI follows suit?

  13. Going off what @BoddaH1994 said, Adventure Express's minimum operating temp is 45 degrees, and as soon as the thermometer goes below 50, it runs really slow. With Racer, however, its minimum operating temp is 35 degrees. The other morning I was helping opening up Racer and it was about 38 degrees when we did our morning checks and Racer was running pretty good considering the cold temps. Having The Racer open for Winterfest is a great addition to the lineup. Also idk if this is being discussed yet, but Fastlane for Winterfest? When I look online at Fastlane, says it will be on sale soon. Considering that two coasters are now joining the Winterfest lineup, could we see Fastlane implemented for Winterfest and the end of the single rider lines?

  14. I kind of wish The Adventure Express was open as well for Winterfest because I think it would be a pretty nice addition to the lineup and it’s not a very intense roller coaster so I think it can operate most of the time. It’s nice to have The Racer though.

  15. I remember the "action" scene around the fort as a kid and I think I knew that the train route was rerouted when the water park was built, but watching this was the first time that I connected that my memories of the fort and action scene as a kid took place in a different fort than the one built around the house. By the time the water park was built, I was to old and "cool" to make the train ride a regular attraction while at the park so there is a sizable (maybe longer than 20 year gap) b/w those days and when my oldest was built and the train went from a "once every handful of years" kind of attraction to a "must ride it every time" kind of attraction. Sadly, I've come thru the other side with my 3rd child now tall enough to ride everything and the train is once again a "once every handful of years" kind of attraction". It won't be too long (but hopefully not too soon either considering my oldest is just 16) before I circle back with grand kids and the train once again becoming a "must ride every time" kind of attraction Thanks for posting this, it was an enjoyable watch.

  16. @Platinum BassThank you for doing all that work! I am totally fascinated by seeing the land before Kings Island was built!

  17. I’m not sure how much KK factors into having The Racer and SSBR operating for Winterfest this year at KI. Last season I visited BGW’s Christmas Town and KD’s Winterfest. KD was operating the same amount of coasters KI was for Winterfest in 2023. An hour down the road at BGW and they only had 3 of there coasters not operating out of their entire lineup. Also, Carowinds too was only operating a couple coasters. It will be interesting to see if the rest of the chain follows suit with having more coasters operate for Winterfest. Here are my trip reports: Regardless, having both The Racer and SSBR operating for Winterfest is a welcomed addition!

  18. “It couldn’t possibly run during those temperatures!” ”It wouldn’t be ready for spring if they opened it for Winterfest.” Then KY Kingdom announced their event. KI ran out of excuses. As with all things, it comes down to how little they can spend without people ceasing to show up. Clearly they feel that risk. If you think KY kingdom doesn’t matter to Kings Island, it certainly does. Their success will force Kings Island to do slightly more than the bare minimum.

  21. ^I woke up at 4:50 on Thursday and snagged the full 6 one day tix for the first six days of operation. It’s going to be busy but honestly I would regret not going opening day if I can go to opening day. The fact tickets sold out so quickly is not surprising.
