All I'm going to say is that I think people will be more grateful about receiving an announcement about a closure rather than just waking up one day to find a coaster is gone. If anyone from the park is checking these forums, my request to you is if The Bat has reached it's final days, PLEASE let it close with fanfare and with final rides and love/support from it's fan base much like the park did with Vortex. I understand the need to move forward, I may not like or agree with all of the decisions, however, giving a chance at last rides is a very respectful way to close an aging attraction instead of acting like nobody cares about it or just tearing it down during the off season.3 points

(Not directed at you specifically) I don’t think the removal of any of those attractions is anything more than “wishful” thinking from enthusiasts who’d like to see half the park demo’d in favor of concrete and lackluster coaster installations. Have there been any legitimate rumors saying this? Aside from regularly scheduled seasonal work involving Timberwolf? That said, I hope none of that comes to fruition, including the removal of Top Gun/The Bat. There are so many other areas of the park that need attention before AZ. I’m afraid that massive ride removals would only lead to large spaces of cleared land and wooden fences for 5-10 years.3 points

Mamba holds a lot more significance to that park though than Slingshot did to KI. I realize anything is possible but I can't see it happening as it, Prowler, and Patriot are the best coasters in the park. With the lack of love they give WOF I'm surprised they are even painting it especially a different color scheme. It is also a workhorse unlike say Ka or Nighthawk.2 points

Mamba is getting repainted so it won't be that. I could see Zulu though.2 points

It's professionally worded but my question is, Why Couldn't they have announced this back in early October and given people a chance for last rides??? I know their maintenance budget was cut under the merger but still the fact that there was never a chance for final rides almost stings more than the actual closures. Nighthawk had it coming, as did scream weaver, however I'm surprised about the Drop Tower.2 points

The KIC admin are going to moderate and do their best to follow the TOS along with making a decision based on other known and possibly not known factors. We are not always going to make a decision that makes everyone happy. On the subject of The Bat. I removed a thread that was posted by a member claiming to have insider information from Charlotte without revealing a source. The park nor KIC admin owe or need to make a statement because a thread gets posted about an insider information rumor. I have spoken to the park and there is no plan to remove The Bat. As of right now, The Bat being removed at the end of the 2025 season is just a rumor. I realize everyone is a little on edge with the changes the new Six Flags company is making. We are all passionate about our park and want to see it be its best. We also can't get so upset about the things we don't like that we forget to enjoy the park.2 points

These smaller parks cannot afford to lose any rides. Six Flags isn't going to touch any of them unless its an absolute emergency. I think Worlds of Fun is perfectly safe. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it.1 point
-
I am not saying it is the case and let's hope SIX never gets to this point, but the problem that is often the case is that you get a bean counter that simply looks at the dollars and cents and takes all emotion out of the decision. They say eliminate the ride with the highest O&M cost without taking other factors into consideration and that is how a popular ride that draws people gets eliminated.1 point

Keep in mind we have seen this before at our own park... Did the guests that loved Slingshot get to say goodbye? Did the guests that loved Pipeline Paradise get to say goodbye? Granted one was a paid attraction and not everyone did Pipeline, but a ride has the distinction of being a favorite ride for somebody. Maybe KI once again was a test park for this new kinda rollout1 point

I'm sure there's a minimal level of care. But they are making decisions from a non-emotional standpoint. Remember, the parks are being overseen by a team led by the very person who, when they were acting GM at KI, sacrificed the original Antiques, KCKC, and Flying Eagles. Sentimentality is not forefront on the current executive teams mind. Cutting maintenance costs and redemption of real-estate within the parks is. As I said in an earlier post - it is what it is.... and there's more to come...1 point

Snow Works is one of the few disappointments at WinterFest. It pales in comparison to the snow tube attraction for Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom.1 point

I looked at our front gate gallery and did not see it. Not a lot of photos from that era in it. https://kicentral.com/photos/front-gate1 point

I would also like to see a nicely made park museum installed into the KillMart building, although only if the maze is moved to a new location. The idea of losing another Haunt maze makes me hesitant, but I'd think it could be easy enough to construct another small warehouse like the park did for Slaughterhouse when it moved. It might not be easy, but a short looping documentary would also be really fun to have in there if the building were to be turned into a museum. There's one massive thing standing in the way of expansion within KI's Soak City that I haven't seen a ton of people talk about: the high voltage power lines that cross directly through the center of it. I'm not at all versed on the rules regarding what can go under them, but from what I've gathered it's not much more than a path. The gap isn't huge but it's noticeable enough and unfortunate because nothing can be built under them.1 point

Keep in mind, that our member here reached out to Over Texas and they denied that their coaster was leaving. Didn't Great Adventure do the same with Kingda Ka? Most of the steel coasters will leave Kings Island at some point in my lifetime. Diamondback, Banshee and Orion, I'm looking at you. Millie will die one day, as will SooperDooperLooper. There is a difference in an immediate closure and a planned obsoletion. Hopefully in the future, the chain will give cherished coasters a proper send off. I get that the two chains are figuring it out as they go, but if this is the new norm, it's not looking good.1 point

It's very concerning how this is following very similar steps to Kingda Ka. It starts out as just a random thought, but then makes its way to a rumor. Then, lots of people start paying attention (like Screamscape). Before you know it, you find documents that prove the rumor true. Everyone waits for the park to make an announcement, but in the meantime, everyone gets their rides in while it's still running. Before you know it, the ride closes forever and fans are furious. Kingda Ka was just the first of many rides to close. The Bat, Invertigo, Congo River Falls, Nighthawk, and hydraulic launch coasters could be following. We are entering a new era for theme parks. Remember to enjoy the park, and have fun. Regardless of what happens. Kings Island will always be a place to have fun and share memories with friends and families. Because of this new norm, you never know if your latest ride will be your last. Enjoy every moment of it.1 point

I personally like how the "newish" user comes in and writes a thesis on how they think the TOS suck. As if they were a long time member here, or are they? Schell if I know.1 point

I understand the distrust in Six Flags for now....but what I don't get is a newish user comes in and says something to the tune of "The Bat is leaving because someone from Charlotte told me." Not long after the fact that Six Flags says 'xyz' isn't going anywhere....so are we supposed to trust them or not? I always try to ride The Bat as often as I can....so not much will change for me to prepare if this is true. I'll be really sad if it does end up happening.1 point

Unfortunately I don't think with the current leadership and ride removal trends that The Bat will last too much longer but I hope they can get a 5 year plan in the works to retire AND replace the older attractions they want to get rid of. For example we all know that boo blaster, Invertigo, and Congo have to be on the short list of soon to be removed rides and The Bat can't be too far behind them. If they could remove all 4 by the end of 2030 and have built a new dark ride, a new coaster in The Vortex plot, AND a coaster in the Invertigo/Congo plot, I'd say that would be acceptable. However, making no investment and only removing rides is not what anyone wants to see happen to the park. While I hope we never see the day that The Bat gives it's final rides, all I'm asking for Kings Island, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, or whoever is in charge of these decisions is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the fans a 3-4 weeks notice like has historically been customary to do and don't just tear down a ride that has been a classic at the park for over 30 years without any word during the off season. I understand that rides get old and are removed but please Kings Island have the respect for the guest and the fans of the ride to at least give them a chance to get final rides if that decision ever has to be made1 point

Hold up? Is is confirmed Bat is leaving in 2025 or is it just speculation by another thoosie?1 point

^ I agree so much with your post, but I do want to talk about one thing: Where is the idea that outsiders are making these calls coming from? I was under the impression that the leadership team of the new Six Flags was entirely made up of legacy Six Flags and (especially) legacy Cedar Fair execs.1 point

Well, Kentucky Kingdom sure knows how to throw a Christmas party! This year’s holiday event was a total blast, but it was packed. I mean, I’ve never seen the park so crowded, it reminded me of a KI Haunt Saturday night. The tree lighting ceremony was super cute. The Sugar Plum Fairy was a hit with the little ones, getting them all involved in the dance numbers. It was adorable, but let’s talk about the audio. It was really hard to hear her, even standing close. They definitely need to invest in some better sound equipment. The kids’ area was nice, I had never been in that area. The rides look fantastic, the landscaping is beautiful, and the holiday lights are just magical. The entire park was decked out in lights. Seriously, every almost inch was covered. The front of the park and Hurricane Bay were the busiest areas, especially the tubing hill. The carousel area to Swamp Water Jacks was also really well done. We also caught a show in the outdoor theater that was good and kept the audience engaged. I think it would get @brenthodge's stamp of approval. The carolers at The Bluegrass Bakery were fantastic, but again, the crowd noise made it tough to hear them. They could really benefit from some mics. And let’s not forget the cinnamon bread! Worth the long line, every time. We rode the Drop Tower and Kentucky Flyer, which were both great. We tried to catch the 5D theater, but the line was too long, and we missed the cutoff. Now, here’s where things get a little weird. The queue for the 5D theater was dark, quiet, and just plain boring. It needs some light, decor, and music to create a more festive atmosphere. And the strangest thing of all was the area around the mini WindSeeker and Kentucky Flyer. No lights, no music, no Christmas decor. It was like a forgotten corner of the park. I can only assume there was an electrical issue, but that’s still pretty concerning for two major rides. They need to light up that area and add some holiday cheer. Despite the crowds, we had a great time. I’m definitely planning to go back during the week to explore more and avoid the madness.1 point

If Surf Dog can be listed as a roller coaster, RiverRacers can be listed as a water coaster.1 point
