  1. @BoddaH1994 That is all very interesting but doesn’t address your previous strong objections to the SIX membership program. That program appears to me to be more consumer friendly than what CF is offering here, the subject of this thread not meal plans, winterfest or picnics. What do you have to say about what CF is offering? @malem Yep I am aware of that as several years ago I did cancel a SF membership and changed to an annual pass. Still beats the approximately 364 day cancellation policy CF is offering here. I actually want to go back to the membership program but need to time it right to soft-lock in the low price and also get them processed for the gold benefits. That is if the sum total of the payments is equal to the cost of an annual pass.
  2. But, but, but. This isn’t even cancelable. With a SiX membership one can cancel anytime after month 12! Month 14, month 19, month 45. Anytime. Here you are committed for 12 month blocks. What if I change my mind? I am stuck! Where is the long screed about how terrible this is for the guests?!?!?
  3. See my theory is that clearing way back there is not for employee dormitories but for 2019’s new ride SOB. Son of Bat
  4. Where is @BoddaH1994 to explain how terrible this is? With 12 payments it sure sounds an aweful lot like a SIX membership. There will be months you are making payments and can’t use it! And what happens if your credit card expires? Doom and Gloom I tell you!
  5. I think that says more about basketball than wedding rings. -KDD who hates basketballs.
  6. Born and raised in St. Louis and spent most of my adult life there. Never heard of this.
  7. The Pulse is strong in this one. Congrats. Do you have an assigned position/location yet? Please Be Rivertown Freestyle, Please Be Rivertown Freestyle
  8. Never been a ride op and there are many here vastly more versed in the subject but a two minute “dwell” time is a lot higher than the goal in most cases. I think they are generally about 60 seconds as a goal. Not that it is always reached due to various factors. Adding a third train does not increase capacity linearly due to the inevitable stacking. It doesn’t go 400, 400, 400. More like 400, 400, 200 for that third train. That is still a 20% increase in capacity, which makes a difference if you are standing in line.
  9. @JubJester That’s what it sounded like she said. I am hoping the term has a meaning outside of golf otherwise there’s some shenanigans going on after hours. Maybe it was “rivet” ? With all the different kinds of body piercings I could see there being a some problems particularly the studs I have seen in small of some women’s backs. (Ouch) I can also see that a women’s diamond ring could theoretically cause some damage to the slide but from my understanding the facets on diamond rings are not such that they can really cut anything. It’s just interesting that the rule only applies to that one slide. Regarding shirts, I have also had some issues at KI regarding that but spoke to a supervisor last year and they assured me that a synthetic swimware shirt is allowed though you may have to tuck it into your trunks. Some ops have tried to tell us to take them off and I politely inform them I have discussed to issue with management and if they would like to call their supervisor up to discuss it further I am willing to wait. They immediately back down. Even had that issue with another women standing next to me once in a long sleeved surfer style suit. The op asked her to take it off and she was like, “This is my suit, I don’t think you really want me to do that”. Lol. One reason I was particularly annoyed that day was Kiefer has always been scared of the drop slides and had decided that that day he was going to be brave and try it so I was going to do it with him. We had already waited in line so I wasn’t going to make him leave. I am going to contact the Aquatics Director regarding regarding eyewear as well. Ryan can’t see squat without glasses and has optical swim goggles that they always make him take off on slides. However that day he wore his athletic goggles with a strap that he also wears on the dry side and no one said squat about those. Doesn’t make sense at all to me. The only functional difference between the two is the athletic googles do not create a seal around the eye. Confused. @chuck norris I don’t follow how that explains it is only enforced on some slides.
  10. KI has just gone to far in what they now classify as a “loose article”. A men’s wedding band? Seriously? Was refused entrance to Tropical Plunge at SC yesterday becuase of my very simple plain ring. What married male in the US does not wear one? Have never had a problem before including several visits this season. I asked to speak to the ride supervisor and she explained that the policy is new this year and applies to this slide only and a ring could catch on a “divot” if a rider uncrossed their arms. I looked at the signage at the entrance and all jewelry is now classified as a “loose article”. So just take it off you say? Well like many men who marry excellent cooks we tend to put on a few pounds after tying the knot and there is no way that ring is coming off my finger unless it is cut off. It has probably been 15 years since it has been off my finger and that was with the assistance of soap. So I accepted my fate without yelling or being a jerk about it but was pretty annoyed so I went in the wave pool to cool off and stew about it. I got to thinking about it being an issue 10 years or so ago when I had some surgery and the nurse wanted me to remove it. I told her she was welcome to try and she just ended up tapping it up with some medical tape. So I went to First Aid and got a 10” strip of tape and wrapped it up, showed the ride supervisor and she was fine with that. Something they should probably suggest to guests rather than just turn them away, maybe even have a role at the line separator position. I still think banning wedding bands is over the top especially when KI appears to do so little about cell phones out on rides. Am I all wet and everyone else thinks to remove their wedding rings before going to the water park?
  11. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Closed again yesterday!
  12. I completely understand about Rougarou but am not as down on it as others. Sticking your head forward works for my kids and pressing my head back works for me. Just seems replacing a section or two of reprofiled track would fix the majority of the problem and make it a pretty decent ride. CP needs people eaters, especially on days like today where reports are that all lots are full and the line to get in this morning backed up to McDonalds. Although several come to mind like CCMR, WT and Corkscrew. It really depends on what if anything would replace it. CCMR if they could get something with a lower height requirement for families. Just doesn’t seem to serve any purpose with 48” height requirement. Same could be said for Wilderness Express. Ryan calls Corkscrew “demeaning” but is nice to look at and also has a small footprint. WT is useless with its overly restrictive size requirements but takes up no space and does check off the 200’ box. In the end I come down on Corkscrew becuase it is just a bad ride.
  13. They will just wait for the company to start having financial trouble then purchase it. You know the rest of the story from there.
  14. Merchandise sales less a probably a high shrinkage rate as well. Turn the tables and now KI is stealing guest’s money.
  15. Maybe they will build a shelter and slap a bunch of claw machines in it.
  16. They use it for a Haunt. Just like TRTR in Rivertown. Two other repurposed stations I can think of are old Skyride stations at CP and SFSTL, buildings are expensive.
  17. Well it is a bit of a hike to next Three Point Challenge.
  18. What teenageninja said. Sit still but comfortably, ask questions about the topics they bring up, absolutely no negativity about any past employment experience or managers. Remember to keep the focus on what you can do for them (work hard, keep focused, be reliable, keep your mouth shut, be flexible) not what they can do for you or how much you need this job. Keep theses things in mind and you will do fine. Let us know how it goes.
  19. But we need staff for the Rivertown Freestyle!
  20. The question I have is why close it Labor Day instead of end of season? Surely they don’t need the extra time to install a replacement flat. Don’t think I have ever seen more than two ride ops.
  21. Outside of Frontier Trail it is one off the shadiest parts of the park, I am more concerned about the trees. Noticed it down several times this year and suspect it has more to do with maintenance than needing that little corner for something.
  22. I don’t see anything happening to Magnum. It is still fairly reliable and can eat people well if called upon. Unfortunately looks like I will be there on Sunday 9/2, historically Saturday and Sunday can be really crowded if good weather. Full lot, parking on grass crowded. Reason is some friends have tickets expire that day and don’t have very flexible schedules but will be staying overnight so thinking of going back Monday and maybe spending some time at the beach. At least the hotel has a pool if it gets crazy Sunday.
