Dollar Hours!

Possible. Or they could be cheap *******s like me. My first year as a Passholder I spent nothing beyond ice cream for the kids every 2-3 visits. I have actually been a bit more lax recently and actually allowed my kids to purchase Steel Vengeance shirts and they usually get some sort of treat each visit.

United’s Flight of Fear and Vagisil’s Vortex. Though Advil may get in a bidding war for that one. -

Cedar Point Crowds
King Ding Dong replied to sixohdieselrage's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Another issue of closing early is staff retention. If one is counting on that paycheck but is continually having their hours cut by being sent home they may consider more stable employment. Especially problematic for a park that relies on many employees traveling great distances to work in the fall. -

It seems logical the more a park closes early due to weather/low attendance the more hesitant the public will be taking the chance coming when there is inclement weather. Not exactly the situation the park wants be in and seems rather short sighted. -

I looked at the web cams around noon and it looked to be only one row of cars in the main lot. There really is little reason to close the park for weather if you have people there to spend money on stuff. Low attendance on the other hand... kind of sucks but it does seem to be the direction the company is heading. It sure seemed like KI closed early quite a bit this season versus the past couple of years. I am actually very surprised they had as many coasters running as they did. Weatherbug had the avg wind speed at 23 early this afternoon and anytime I have seen it get over 20 everything tall shuts down. Didnt you have that happen at SFGA last year? -

It does. Pretty cool how they did that. -

CP doesn’t stand a chance with that award. They don’t have one big kids area, they have 3 smaller ones. -

At what rate are things going? One season of slightly off attendance, or something else? -

Now waiting for all the posts asking if KI will have a Pre-K Pass next year so they can get the best kids area for free. -
Cedar Point to Remove Witches' Wheel

I just knew when they announced the closure those trees didn’t stand a chance. -
People expect woodies to be rough and bang you up a bit, they don’t expect the same from steel. I realize many still love old classics like Vortex and Corkscrew but one also has to consider the Guest experience of the general public that are not in the know about how painful and potentially best day ever enders these rides can be. Vortex totaly ruined one of our trips and last weekend Corkscrew did the same to some friends of ours that despite being warned got on it anyway becuase it was the only coaster without a big line. They were done after that and went back to the hotel to recover. Thus not spending anymore money in the park.

There are so many factors that come into play other than just initial price and resale value. Longevity, interoperability with other devices, investment in the ecosystem, repairability, battery life, size, rooting ability, carrier compatibility, carrier controlled updates, etc. I personally don’t use my phone for many activities unless I am truely mobile such as at a park and use my iPad instead 95% of the time. I don’t want to lug around a phablet in my pocket as it still is not as good an experience as an 10” screen. In this age of no landlines one feature I really like is the ability to make and receive calls on the iPad and switch between the two on the fly in a very seamless manner. I think Apple calls this “handoff”. Do Android phones and tablets have this same functionality? If so I would consider switching in the future but so far have been very pleased with th longevity of the Apple products.

Possibly, but I don’t think that kicks in until next year. I don’t know if they plan on bring in internationals like CP but they don’t stick around past weekly operations anyway I don’t beleive. It could help draw workers from towns to far away to commute each day such as Cbus. I still see a big problem in that the the work is seasonal and wages and benefits are not any higher than most other entry service industry jobs. CP was struggling this past weekend in food service and they still had at least some internationals. This is a joke, right?

Cedar Fair Reports Record Revenue in August http://ir.cedarfair.com/newsroom/press-releases/news-release-details/2018/Cedar-Fair-Reports-Record-Revenues-In-August/default.aspx I am sure some may take issue with the statement that they maintained integrity in their pricing structure, but is seems to have worked at least in the short term.

I imagine all it would take to theme the shed out nicely is have a some fake blood dripping down on the riders.

I am not following you here. Hasn’t Haunt just been getting busier each year? Or are you talking referring to a dwindling talent pool available to KI becuase of the competition?

Potato buns would work but they are different and not sure how well received they would be by the general public. Big fries, little fries everyone likes them different. My boys and I are not big fans of the large fries as we find the more like a baked potato than a fry. But they last longer under a heat lamp as thinner cut fries get hard fast versus a thick fry that just soft and mushy. Neither is ideal but soft fry won’t break your teeth.

Plus it would it no longer be a gluten free establishment.

Not so sure I accept that as an excuse. Summer is hot, some days more than others but summer is prime operating season and the park needs to be prepared for that. It is a problem even on mild days. Supplying enough ice for the machines is a manpower or infrastructure issue not heat issue.

I will likely be well below 32F at night, I can live without ice.
