  1. Yesterday on the train the associate said he’d be returning.
  2. There’s a Reddit user claiming to see the collision. Take that with a shaker full of salt.
  3. Not to bring Reddit into it, but there’s a few more details:
  4. Might be better to release a statement to clear the air than let rampant speculation drive the narrative.
  5. Exactly. Most accidents in these environments are preventable and come as a result of some kind of safety failure or oversight. I don’t want to bring the Icon Park incident into the conversation because it’s obviously very, very different, but in getting back to the park on season pass preview day I commented to my fiancé how grateful I was to have a home park where accidents don’t typically occur to the extreme that occurred in Florida. Don’t want to sound like a broken record, but it’s just disappointing and I regret making the above statement about safety, now. You just don’t know what else could happen. I guess that’s the risk, though. Has the park released a statement yet?
  6. Leaving the Intamin/B&M argument out of the conversation, I gotta say I’m still pretty disappointed. Regardless of the severity of the incident, it’s never nice to see safety in jeopardy like that. Certainly makes me lose a little trust.
  7. That all sounds incredibly stupid. Just gonna say it.
  8. I don’t know if they’re working at at all, now. They didn’t scan my pass to get in about 45 minutes ago.
  9. Personally, I’m loving the new RMC’d entrance sign.
  10. My game plan for tomorrow: 1. Show up late and leave early 2. Admire the myriad of general park improvements 3. Have a beer 4. Get a lap or two in on The Racer, Train, and Adventure Express 5. Repeat step 3 6. Have a nice lunch 7. Get home to watch The Reds lose
  11. Sort of off topic, but I saw this on the Kings Island History Facebook page. It gives you a good idea of the lay of the land when it came to the land used.
  12. A great prank would be the return of the Paramount logo. That would get a reaction.
  13. Seemed like an April Fools Day joke initially. I’m certainly curious about the PT show. Hoping it finds a presence in the park in other ways as well. Cool news! Shaping up to be a rad season.
  14. This was a great read. Didn’t know about the additional story elements to The Beast. Such a shame that seems to be lost to time. I’m hoping the recent announcements involving general improvements continue and we see a return to Rivertown’s former glory!
  15. So great! Wouldn’t hate a retheme to push it into to Rivertown, but I’m thrilled to see this classic receiving attention!
  16. Enough with the Intamin agrument. Christ. Is this really the topic?
  17. A pretty cool video I stumbled upon tonight that includes a handful of pictures I’ve never seen. Such a rad dark ride. Just wanted to share for those interested!
  18. Agree and disagree with that. The final result of Diamondback is lacking in the theming department in the ways you mentioned. While Mystic did a lot right, it is still a bit out of place. Which is a shame because it’s arguably the best coaster in the park. For me, both rides ruined the original feel and concept of Rivertown because of the deforestation of the area surrounding both coasters. In turn, it severely affects the ride experience of White Water Canyon and the train (which is totally neglected theming wise anyway). The isolation of both of those rides where part of the experience. Same can be said for The Beast. Both Diamondback and Orion are creeping in on The Beast now. I do miss the original Swan Lake too. Not worth losing that for what replaced it. I loved the splashdown idea initially, but don’t love the execution. That’s nothing compared to Paramount dropping Tomb Raider where they did. Stupid move. I’m not trying to be super negative, because I really really love the ride experience of Mystic Timbers. Including the shed. But they seemed to have lost their way when it comes to Rivertown as a whole. Totally different discussion, but those pictures included a shot of the pre- International Restaurant entrance building! Never seen that before.
  19. I think a lot of people love the area because of Diamondback and Mystic Timbers, and would prefer Rivertown now vs. how it was because of those coasters. Don’t get me wrong. They’re both great coasters, but they destroyed that area of the park. Easily could’ve been placed elsewhere. Between all over Rivertown and the destruction of the OG antique cars, arguably the most beautiful area of the park has been altered beyond repair. It’s a shame. Oh well. At least we can play soccer for cheap prizes in front of an empty warehouse.
